First let me give you a little bit about me. I pop up on this site from time to time with a question or two. A while back I was trying to project just about every night. Lately not so much. Anyways. I just had a crazy experience and I'm almost completely certain this was an OBE. This is what hapened.

I had woken up around 4:30 in the morning. Tried going back to sleep and couldn't. Was on my laptop till around 6:30 when I decided to try and get some more sleep or just listen to more music. I'm listening to this binaural beats track and more quickly than usual felt that falling feeling that I had grown so accustomed to. I must have been going under deep though because I was drifting in and out of sleep it seems. Not sure for how long though.

This next parts hard to describe. I must have woke up in sleep paralysis. I've never had sleep paralysis before but I'm pretty sure this is it from descriptions. I feel myself wake up but my eyes don't. I can hear the music playing but I'm sure I'm hearing other things that aren't part of the binaural track. The falling feeling comes on out of nowhere, stronger vibrations than I've ever felt before. I'm so sure it was sleep paralysis because I couldn't move anything and certainly couldn't open my eyes. So I decided to go with the vibrations.

I'm falling and falling and suddenly it seems like my vision kicking in. I think usually when people OBE they say they end up in their room first right? I didn't but I don't know why. Maybe I had actually used phasing instead. I'm still really confused as to what happened. I told myself that I had to fly out of my body and the first images that come to me is me flying over what seemed like the earth but almost like a giant mural painting of the earth. Then I thought of someplace I wanted to go and I was there instantly. A lot of things looked really surreal. The part where I was flying over the Earth almost looked like a dream. Still if it was a dream this was unlike any regular or lucid dream I ever had before. I've never had such a state of consciousness either during a dream.

Anyways this whole ordeal couldn't have lasted more than 5 to 10 minutes. I think I willed myself back into my body because I thought about my body and then started falling again and all of a sudden could hear my binaural beats going on but I was still in sleep paralysis. Took me another minute or two (but it seemed like forever) to wake myself up for good. Immediately I had to share this because it is certainly the closest thing to an OBE that I have ever experienced. And if it wasn't one it was definitely the most insane lucid dream ever.

Does anybody else think this was possibly an OBE?

It's been awhile since I've last been on the website and it's been awhile since I last seriously attempted to project. So far I've never had a succesful OBE but I do have a few questions:

1. When trying to exit my body I've got to the point where I feel like I'm floating/sinking and the darkness in my eyelids looks very three dimensional. I've heard others mention this state. Does this mean I'm close to projecting?

2. I've been reading "mastering astral projections" and have read that sometimes before exiting your body you'll hear voices. Some of these voices sound like they're addressing or even trying to scare you or intimidate you out of projecting. Has anyone experienced this?

Alright so i've been attempting projection a lot lately. I feel like I'm getting further than I did before but I'm not sure.

At times I feel as though I am asleep yet I'm not. I don't know if this makes any sense. My body becomes pretty numb and I feel like I'm floating.

Also the other night I had my eyes closed and I felt kind of distant and then realized that the blackness that had been the inside of my eyelids was now illuminated in a sense. It was almost like the sun was in my room and the light was shining through my closed eyelids. Does this make sense. I feel like I'm making progress but still pretty far off.

Lately I've heard many people talking about the negatives of astral projecting. Mainly about hallucinations and all sorts of things. It doesn't worry me to the point of being scared but it is something I think about. My parents (who have experience in astral projecting) tell me their is nothing to be afraid of and that they have never had a negative experience. Is this the norm?

Something strange happened. I woke up in the middle of the night and had trouble getting back to sleep. While attempting to fall asleep I kind of had one of those dreams where you're not fully asleep but more like half asleep. The second I opened my eyes astral projecting came straight to my mind. I closed my eyes and instantly I felt like I was falling (like when going into a deep mediation). Has this happened to anyone else?

This may be a little bit off the subject but in some way relates. The Myspace band The Silk Dreamcatchers talks about their newest album, a concept album which is a long story about heart break, spiritual enlightenment, journeys across the earth, and ancient supercities in the year 2012 in their blogs. The album is coming out soon. Read the blogs and check it out:

Good questions. Hopefully this well help you a bit

1. I've heard it is possible to take someone with you but if your boyfriend is skeptical about it then it probably won't work.

2. Yes it is possible to go back in time while in the astral realms. The 70's are also a period that I would like to visit, mainly for all the amazing music.

3. I've heard that it is easier for those who are younger to tap into astral projection. It's always possible to re-learn something you used to know. Especially when it comes to this.

4. If you're afraid of the dark that is a huge obstacle to overcome when it comes to projecting. Just relax and remain calm and sure that there's nothing that can harm you. And yes waking up a few hours before you usually do would be the best time, or at least it is for most people.

Anyways hope that helped and remember there's nothing to fear when it comes to projecting

I was definitely concious of every part of it. I've had lucid dreams before and this was different.

I don't know why I didn't bring this up before. About a month ago I had a dream. And in the dream my "dream" self was going to go to sleep which would have sent me to sleep while already in a dream, strange I know. But instead of falling asleep in my dream I began to feel like I was falling and in a matter of seconds I was in what seemed like a dream.

Anyways I woke up in a strange apartment with my IPOD and a familiar song was playing but in reverse. Anyways. I exited the apartment and flew over the town. This felt way more realistic than the dream had been. However I would black out and end back up in my dream. Really weird. Eventually I woke up. Anyways. Any thoughts?

It wasn't so much that ONE of my questions wasn't answered. It was a couple and it seemed like people were answering EVERY question BUT mine. So it got kind of annoying. Thanks for the help.

Please someone answer this question. No one has answered of my questions yet and in all honesty I'm sick of it.

My question is how do I know when I'm close to leaving my body. And please don't give a vague response.

I'll be relaxing. And it'll start to feel like I'm falling, I can see the 3D darkness that everyone talks about. I can no longer feel the bed under me and after that I begin to feel like I'm floating or lifting up. Am I close to projecting?

I can get into the vibrating stage but don't know what to do next. What do I do next?
