Hey guys.

New to the forums, so I'll post a little bit about my experiences and I also have some questions.

I first started experiencing sleep paralysis when I was about 18. I'm now 23.

It only happened a few times a year, but started to become more frequent about a year and a half ago.

I'm more or less just paralysed and semi-conscious. I can open and shut my eyes, but the rest of my body won't move. I've never hallucinated which I see is quite common among people who suffer it.

Anyway, I first read up about astral projection about a year ago. I tried it quite a few times but was never able to really achieve anything. It wasn't until I was searching around on google one day that I came across the connection between the two.

The first time I tried it while experiencing sleep paralysis was intense. I had never felt vibrations until now, and they were bloody intense lol.

Since then, and if I remember to (sometimes I don't because I panic, and as I said before, I'm usually semi-conscious), I'll get thrown into vibrations almost instantly.

This is where I'm stuck. I get scared, as in terrified. I'm not really the type of person who has that type of fear either. I very rarely get scared of anything, including the devastating earthquakes that have been hitting my city(Christchurch, NZ).

This though is way too much for me and I always end up bailing on it, even though I can feel how close I am.

A couple of nights ago I got so close I swear I felt as if I was about to hear a popping sound, like my bodies were about to separate. I also noticed total blackness, though I'm not sure if my eyes were open. All I remember was being too scared to face what ever would happen if I left my body. The instinctual thought running through my head was that I wouldn't come back. I know now why so many people ask about it.

So my question was - What exactly will I experience if I go through with it? How do you know once you've left your body? Can you see yourself instantly? Are you in the air?

I'm also curious about some of the nasty things people can see and hear sometimes. Are these things just in your head or do they actually carry some kind of a threat?
