I raise my hand, I have attended a retreat held by the staff at Glorian: www.gnosticteachings.org the retreat was great, schedule included meditation and pranayama sessions, mantras/vocalizations and detailed lectures about the spiritual path, consciousness, religion, enlightenment, occultism, esotericism etc etc. I found this group to be safe and a take it or leave it (its up to you) attitude, they give you the practices and information, then it is up to you whether you decide to take it any further after the retreat is over. In my opinion, what they teach is a robust and complete system of spiritual development.

If you are interested to know more about what this group teaches, I highly recommend you visit their sister site which is www.gnosticradio.org where you can download lectures about various subjects, each week they do a live lecture where you can join in an online chat to ask questions at the end, I believe the lectures can be heard live or streaming through iTunes as well, otherwise the site above contains a lot of those audio lectures transcribed into written format for easy reading, complete with diagrams and a forum, etc.

Great video and inspiring words!

The Holy Spirit is the force through which God or the Ultimate utilizes to create, creation occurs because of the Holy Spirit, to my understanding The Holy Spirit is masculine yet unfolds itself into the feminine in order to create (yet also encloses the Trinity within itself), In the Hindu tradition Shiva unfolds Parvati in order to create, the outcome is Ganesha. This reminds me of the Egyptian Osiris-Isis-Horus.

Your going to have to do it yourself. Can someone else learn how to walk for you? No, this is impossible.
#5
My friend, you are worrying unnecessarily over this, by accepting changes and hardships in life you will move in a much more positive direction. Everybody wants to feel good and nobody wants to feel bad, accept the good (dont form attachment), learn from it and likewise accept the bad (dont run away from it), learn from it and move on, be optimistic in life!

This is not such a wise thing to do, it may sound enticing and tempting but doing such things (playing with black magic) will only cause more pain and suffering, its something like trying to heal a cut wound by chopping off your arm!

Why are you desperate for anyways? Your making it worse for yourself by worrying over this....

Welcome to Magic! / Re: Light and Non Light
December 13, 2011, 22:10:56
Im not sure I totally get what your trying to tell us about the light and non-light souls, the terminology your using is slightly confusing, anyway, would you be so kind as to try to explain to us here what you mean by those two terms; non-light and light, and also define what your interpretation of a soul is?

Yes its possible to astral travel to planets outside of earth, the main problem with taking anything too seriously in the astral world is that the astral is very sensitive to our perception of it, the whole landscape and contents of what we are seeing can be modified by how we are seeing it mentally, a preconception, an expection, etc.

So seeing a city on mars may not necessarily mean that there actually exists a city on mars, it could have just been a manifestation of our deep subconscious expectations, but on the other hand it could also have been an actual city on mars, the only way to know whether what we are seeing is something true or false, subjective or objective in other words is by learning how to work with the consciousness, consciously.

Thats why so many traditions; Buddhist for example constantly emphasize the importance of being mindful from moment to moment, day to day, this helps to develop a discrimination between subjective thought projections/internal dialogue and external reality to really perceive them in their proper forms.

Seeing the numbers 11:11 really shouldnt be any different to seeing the numbers 11:12, or really any other number combination, I think that your mind notices the 11:11 pattern and somehow unconsciously makes you look at it, maybe it could be some type of fight or flight response, ive noticed the numbers 11:11 on many occassions but really it just feels like the subconscious mind notices the pattern and draws your attention towards it because it really stands out.

mon9999: so there is a possibility that we incarnate as animals?

Yes, we have human bodies now, but it is possible that later on in a future rebirth, due to our karma we may have to inhabit an animal body, this is not considered to be a fortunate rebirth, the humanoid is considered to be the pinacle species amongst all the other lifeforms on this planet, the human kingdom also serves as the platform from which further development can be attained.

We take our bodies for granted, we do not recognize how fortunate we are to have such a body albeit for a very short amount of time, soon the time will come when we will have to abandon it, some due to old age, others to illness or sudden death. Do not waste your time as there is not much of it left, seek to become a better person now and not tomorrow!

To my understanding; speaking purely on physical terms, animals have a specific function in nature, each species has a job to do to help keep things in balance, like the various cells and organs in your body help to sustain the larger body they occupy (your physical body) likewise the animals do the same for the larger body which is this earth, this is one reason why they are around, another deeper reason based from esoteric knowledge is that animals themselves house consciousness just like us humans, yet the consciousness present within the animal is less experienced, the consciousness within the animal is either evolving or devolving, if the consciousness in the animal is evolving then it will be doing so in order to enter into the humanoid kingdom, if it is devolving then it will be going backwards so that later on it can once again enter the evolving cycle to have another chance at entering the humanoid kingdom.

To make the picture complete; Mineral<Plant<Animal<Humanoid

Animals are not just here to fill up our bellies (or each others bellies), they are a very important ingredient.

Well, that's a good side-effect nonetheless :-D

Quote from: CFTraveler on November 07, 2011, 10:13:52
Yep.  When I started doing this I thought I was listening to entities, and soon figured out they were self aspects (or subconscious chatter).  Then, after a lot of 'deepening' I found out how to get beyond it, and I'm still not that good at it, but I'm getting there.  Somewhat, anyway.

Thats really good CFTraveller, that your able to get past the mental chatter (even somewhat) without identifying yourself with them, this is actually a type of serene observation, its really good that you have been able to get to this stage and it would be even better if you can get to this daily!  Do you feel any positive effects leading up to the meditation practice and even after the practice? By effects im inquiring about emotional, psychological, physical etc such as feelings of peace, tranquility, heightened awareness, non-attachment to anything, non-distraction, contentment, emotional tension release, stress alleviation etc etc?

I think we are thinking different things about what channeling is, what I mean by channeling is people who are trying to contact some being or entity that is not themselves and inviting them to express through the body and mind of the channeler. This is dangerous and foolish, what you are saying by watching your own mind CFTraveller is simply watching your own inner dialogue, those voices could simply be your own subconscious mind, we have internal chatter all the time even when we are awake in the physical so why would it be any different when we try to meditate? It makes sense that all the internal chatter will become more pronounced when trying to meditate as we start to become more aware of the internal state.

It would be worthwhile to try and overcome that chatter (without force) and then shift your observation towards the observer ;)

Sure you could call it whatever you wanted, the Mystical, Spiritual, Enlightening, Religious etc etc...

Although in my opinion it is possible to do such things without calling it anything, the name is just that, a sort of ID tag that conjures up the concept of what it is that you are trying to achieve. You could be a "Mystic" without even calling yourself that, you could be a "Christian" without calling yourself that, likewise you could be a Yogi without calling yourself that.

Remember that if you go deeper into the origins of the word Religion which is the Latin form, then you will run into the word Re-Ligare (Re-Connect or Re-Bond) obviously in the context of spirituality this would point to a reconnecting to our divinity and the Supreme Reality/Absolute, whats interesting is that the word REconnection implies that we were once apart of that (possibly the fall as referring to Eden and prior if you have the Christian background).

It is possible to say that these studies (meditation, astral projection etc) are contained within the main religions Hindu, Christian, Buddhism, Islamic etc but do not themselves have to be classified under a religion, you could be practicing these things yet still have no connection to either religions, thats why I said earlier that you could be a Christian yet not call yourself as such.

I will give you an example, if you see an animal eating food, the animal is obviously eating in order to survive, to live, to the animal, food and surviving/living as words are meaningless, what we call eating is really just an impulse to survive, its a function that takes place within nature that has no name. Likewise you could say that meditation or astral projection is an internal function that we perform that truly has no name.

So to end this long reply (I hope you dont mind my long answer) my opinion is that all these things do not belong to any name, but rather the names are used to distinguish what these things are and what they do, likewise with religion; religions are formed in order to show us that there is a set of processes or steps that we must perform in order to elevate our way of living/reconnect with God/supreme reality/Absolute/Allah and so on.

This is quoted from a website that I thought may contribute to your thread homesick:

"Sakyamuni Buddha initially felt no one would comprehend what he had realized under the Bodhi tree. According to legend, he did not want to teach until the god Brahma convinced him that there are beings whose eyes had little dust and who would understand.

Enlightenment is not hard to get because it is foreign or complex. It is hard to understand only because it is so simple yet profound. It is like convincing a fish that it is in the water and it is mostly made of water. It is hard to see because it is so close and so present.

Because of its subtlety, some might even ask, what good is enlightenment anyway? Why should one try to realize enlightenment at all?

I think that Buddha's teaching of the Four Noble Truths is an elegant, simple, and profound solution to this question. Buddha taught that there is suffering; there is a cause of suffering; there is an end to suffering; and there is a path to end suffering. If you are dissatisfied, do not seek to end your dissatisfaction with a temporary patch. Liberate yourself from its inner root. Seek enlightenment.

Buddha identified a problem—dissatisfaction or suffering—and offered a solution. In that way, out of his great compassion, he made the purpose of liberation and the path to liberation accessible.

But—dare I say this?!—liberation has another meaning, beyond the end of dissatisfaction alone. Or perhaps I should say, calling it the end of dissatisfaction does not seem to do it complete justice, does not by itself give a sense of liberation's fullness, and might even mislead one into thinking it is a state that is placid or numb.

Beyond the end of suffering, there is an ecstatic quality to liberation. It gives fullness, meaning and joy. It brings gratitude and love. It reveals the beauty and magic of the ordinary. It grants overwhelming wonder that there is anything rather than nothing at all. It shows the whole universe to be an amazing magic trick. In its wake comes immense satisfaction and well-being. It is like putting down a burden one has carried for a million years. Attaining it might even make one want to sing, shout and dance like a madman or a fool."

"1:Could the garden of Eden be some type of prision where you can never see dark only light?"

Well not really, have a look at what eden implies, in the dictionary eden implies a blissful state of existence; any delightful region or abode, a paradise. Also remember that adam and eve fell into the wilderness. You can say that the the wilderness represents the dimension below eden which is this physical dimension, and you could also say that psychologically we fell out of the blissful state of eden and into the wilderness which is psychological suffering.

Actually, from a spiritual point of view, wouldnt it make sense that the term alchemy would imply an internal change, an internal transmutation rather than primarily an external one (of changing the composition of physical metals)? Now im not saying that it is not possible to do that, but for the person who is trying to develop spiritually, changing the composition of metals in that way would yield no results.

Taken from Kellydest's quote
"The Stone's history and the history of the human race up until this day is a strange story full of secret societies, hooded cloaks, and mystical symbols. Such theatrics are childish and shallow. It's pointless to look for the light in the shadows."

On the contrary, the symbols themselves contain very deep knowledge, for instance a certain mantra in written form contains within it a deep truth, for us who have not penetrated the symbolism... well it may appear to be just a silly and shallow image.. or story, they are not meant to be easily understood, because knowledge is dangerous, especially to those who are not mature enough to handle it.

"One of the oldest sciences of humanity, Alchemy was known and honored in all ancient cultures because it protected the science of transforming the gross, animal man into a divine being. Yet, as is sadly evident in this day and age, mankind has never respected the divine, and only seeks to indulge in pleasures regardless of the price. Nonetheless, for those who would learn how to apply the mysterious science of Alchemy in their own life, we provide you with the key to unlock the door."

"Although it may appear to be incredible, it is true and factually certain that the science of endocrinology is closely related to Sexual Alchemy. Endocrinology is bound to produce a true creative revolution. Scientists already know that the sexual glands are not sealed capsules. The sexual glands absorb and secrete hormones. The hormones of secretion are called “conserving,” because they perpetuate the species. The hormones of absorption are called “vitalizing,” because they vitalize the human organism. This process of hormonal absorption is transmutation; it is Alchemy: the transformation of one type of energy-matter into another type of energy-matter."

"Trans • mutation: the change of one element into another."

Would you truly trust a complete stranger to enter your home? Channeling is a gamble imo, most of the time you dont really know who your allowing to enter your body/mind.

I do not think its a wise idea to avoid/ignore negative emotions, by doing this you will just bury them deeper into your subconscious, later on you will get a surprise visit, they will still be around before this; operating in deeper parts of your mind well below your conscious awareness.

Its best to simply observe the phenomena as it takes place, as if you are the silent observer, watch how it appears-sustains-dissolves, by doing this you will understand how it works.

Welcome to Astral Consciousness! / Re: Reality checks
September 22, 2011, 08:53:01
Is it possible to develop some ability to discern which reality or dimension we are in just by perception of the experience? What I mean is that there must be some unique characteristic feature within each dimension that sets them apart from each other, I think reality checks are great and can help us greatly but at the same time I think that there must be something else, some type of ability to discriminate, which can aid us in realizing that we are infact within the "astral" dimension etc.

Although im guessing that this type of ability would be developed over an extended period of time, training the consciousness to discriminate between realities on a constant basis would be quite a challenge yet after some time it would be a normal way to perceive, thus such a person would be conscious of being in altered states or dimensions... naturally and spontaneously.

Whether you believe in demons or not, it does not matter, the fact is that sometimes yes people do in fact experience demons whilst traversing the extra-sensory realms, these demons are in fact negatively polarized entities, we all know criminals exist amongst us humans, they are individuals that are driven towards doing "evil" or negative acts, likewise demons are of a similar type, have you ever met a hard-core criminal? If you have then you have had the experience of meeting one, likewise are people who encounter demons.

Although you are right that some people may actually be encountering their own mental formations that appear as "demons", well this is just as interesting, because that mental formation represents some "demon" that is functioning inside of our subconscious mind, these "demons" may manifest before us in the thought sensitive realms if the conditions are right for it, and because they appear to be outside of us, we mistake them for being elements that do not form part of our own constitution psychologically.

It is these demons that we carry within that must be abolished from our psyche, if we want true liberation and enlightenment of the Soul/Consciousness. Now here we see why religions have as their foundation a system of ethical discipline, not as some kind rule to weaken the students mind, but rather to cultivate the positive qualities inherent within the Consciousness of man, those demons are what some people call ego or self-will, a form of self-centeredness that obstructs the development of the Soul/Consciousness.

"Error runs down an inclined plane, while Truth
has to laboriously climb its way up-hill."

In microcosmic words it is easier to feed our egos/demons/desires than it is to weed them out and cultivate the virtues of the Soul.

Thus macro-cosmically it is much easier to become a demon than it is to become a saint or a buddha.

I'd say drugs that stimulate the central nervous system and overload your brain with reward chemicals such as dopamine are counter-productive towards spirituality, first of all these substances stimulate your nervous system so much; that a simple relaxation session becomes totally useless, on the comedown off of these drugs your body and mind will be in a disturbed state making spiritual practice close to impossible, so it would be better to ingest something useful like (organic not gm) fruits and vegetables instead.

Alcohol on the other hand may seem subtle when compared to cns stimulant drugs but that is mainly due to how it is portrayed by our society, alcohol can easily be abused; it seems to remove inhibitions temporarily which is a big problem if you are trying to cultivate ethical discipline and other disciplines to help you on your spiritual path, if your body is thirsty water is the best remedy ;)

In my opinion mind altering substances should not be taken as a helping hand to spiritual advancement, there are other tools much better suited for this purpose, prayer or mantra recitations, meditation, concentration.. etc have alot more depth and have a longer lasting effect if done properly, will drugs ever help you reach for example the Samadhi state? Most likely not, and if in the unlikely chance that we do reach that state by ingesting a certain substance, what is the point if we cant do it straight-sober?

QuoteHas anyone had experiences where it effected your progress or awareness of APing?
Yeah, first of all drugs such as speed may make you seem like you are more alert and you may be while on the drug, but when the effects start to wear off your heading off towards the other direction, your awareness goes way below baseline and it has a very dream-like quality to it, definitely not as sharp. So you may be getting a few hours of "sharp alertness" but the price to pay for this is hefty, you may be recovering for days, weeks or if your unlucky.. months, some people struggle to recover for years after using such drugs, you may develop nervous twitches, paranoia and a whole host of negative behaviors that can stay with you for many many years.

Also CNS stimulants affect your sleeping pattern, your wide awake when you normally should be sleeping, waking up after sleep.. your body feels horrible, every movement is painful, thoughts loops around in your mind over and over like a broken record.

The problems that these drugs create will just add more obstacles for you in the long-run, its not worth the hassle. A lucid dream or astral projection achieved naturally produces a sense of well-being and awe that no drug can replicate.
