Welcome to Magic! / Enochian Magic
March 23, 2004, 12:27:05
Has anyone on this forum practised any form of Enochian Magic? Either using a system from Dee's Heptarchia Mystica or based on the Watch Towers which was modified and used by the Golden Dawn.

Any feed back whatsoever would be much appreciated.

Welcome to Magic! / Scepter ?
May 22, 2004, 13:42:35
Monsolith, your sceptre should work the same way a wand does. As a focus of your WILL. The sceptre is in fact more of a symbol of sovereignty and authority.

I used a quartz crystal at the tip of my wand mounted in silver and attached to a silver hand grip by copper wire. Silver and copper are excellent 'conductors' of all sorts of energy. Btw the main part of my wand is made of 'bog oak'.

I wish more people would act like DragonUnleashed, and use meditation/prayer first before rushing into evocation.

Welcome to Magic! / good spirits...???

I keep 'plugging' this one:

"Summoning Spirits" by Konstantinos.

Comprehensive yet easy to understand. However please do not rush into the art of evocation, PREPARE THYSELF. It is not for idle curiosity but as one of the ways to enlightenment. There is a multitude of spirits who will be pleased to aid us in our quest, equally there is just as many who are happy to deceive the unprepared.

As an added point, I know that some people will criticise the use of magickal practices for gaining material wealth, but many occultists regard it one of the most fundamental occult laws (at least regarding the western world), that in order to make progress in the spiritual world, it is first nececery to master the physical world.

There is a lot of truth in this. You dont have time or energy to explore the spiritual realms when you are slaving away for 12 hours a day or more in a sweat-shop, in addition to the feeling of depression it gives you. I know this as i have done it! People who deny this do so because they are in fact financially sound, although often they don't actually realise it.

Yes indeed......as I said in another post before we can really help others we must help ourselves. For if we are in a position of both spiritual and material strength we can give help on both planes. Eventually of course we will have no further need for any material gain this is then hopefully past onto our loved ones to help ease their burden on the physical plane likewise giving them a foundation on which to grow spiritually. Please note this is only one way, the easy way, some of us can grow spiritually without any material gain whatsoever.

Now Hephaestus if all UK forum users 'stole' those numbers you may not win much!

However as am not like that I've written them down in my diary so I will do my best to help you.

Before we can help others we must help ourselves and by helping others we help ourselves.

Remember magic is neutral it is the motive of the user which makes it good or evil.

Welcome to Magic! / The best wizard ever?

I think the only way I can answer you from my perspective is which occultist I would most wish to hold conversation with. They are two, Dr.John Dee and Francis Barrett.

Parents must be allowed to bring up their children which they feel is correct for THEIR family environment. However I feel it is a great shame that people are not more tolerant and understanding of other philosophy's. I was very fortunate for my father had a great vision and allowed and even bought me books on the occult. At the time it was ME who was so immature that I could not handle IT correctly. Fortunately I'm now much older and a little wiser.

Welcome to Magic! / Tools for evocation
March 09, 2004, 23:34:37
I don't see why you cannot use any tool you think suitable for the task as long as they provide you with a strong link to what you hope to achieve.

The tools you mention are of the 4 elements just make sure you engrave or paint on them the various sigils and names of God/power.
And remember you will need two wands one to represent the element of fire the other is an extension of your WILL and is used for acts of evocation etc.

With regards to your cauldron I assume you wish to use this for skying. As long as you cannot see any distracting reflections in it this will be fine.

I wish you well.

Here is a link regarding egregores. This is just a taster there is more on the web regarding this matter.

In a similar vein is the creation of an "Egregore" a very interesting concept I've only read about in "Summoning Spirits" by Konstantinos (chapter 1+10).

Apparently one has to make a figure of clay and give it 'life'. The type he refers to is only etheric and only rests in a physical shell when not active. He does say however physical egregores are possible. He also gives a stern warning that egregores must not be allowed to live for too long, 3 to 4 months max and must be destroyed when their task has been completed, for they will gain in strength and become free to do what they want. In chapter 1 of the book he also mentions group egregores that are used by magical lodges apparantly they are not dangerous and can exist for centuries.

He clearly states that this practice has few limitations and almost limitless possibilities.

I must confess this is all very interesting, 'thought-form entities, egregores' which I've only read about but not practiced.

Welcome to Magic! / Goetia
March 03, 2004, 23:17:50
There are quite a few versions of "The Goetia" published now and some are indeed medieval in concept. The only version I have now is Crowley's illustrated (New Falcon Publications, 2000). This is less 'starchy' and more in line with the Golden Dawn way of thinking (if that's your thing). It does state at one point that the spirits of the Goetia are indeed portions of the human brain. There is also a wonderful account of an evocation of 'Orobus' one of the spirits of the Goetia which makes for a wonderful read in itself.

"If God didn't exist man would have had to invent Him."

Welcome to Magic! / Summoning
February 25, 2004, 01:14:33
I assume you mean summoning spirits. There is a lot of material available. One of the most useful I've found is "Summoning Spirits" by Konstantinos; it's nicely written and quite easy to follow and understand. For a more indepth understanding try "The Practice of Magical Evocation" by Franz Bardon although you will need to practice and understand the methods outlined in his first book "Initiation Into Hermetics", but be warned these are "heavy going" after all the art of evocation/invocation is not for a "quick fix" or idle curiosity. It is an aid to help you on your path to enlightenment.

There are many others which I will not bore you with now. If I had just one book on this subject I would go with Konstantinos.

Look to the light and never ever loose sight of it. It may at times become dim but it will always be there providing you keep looking. I wish you well.

Welcome to Magic! / Pojecting my will onto others...
February 24, 2004, 12:16:03
I'm sorry things have not worked out with your friends and don't beat yourself up for there is only so much you can do for them. As I said before ultimately they must take resposibility for their own actions.

Love, deep love against all odds takes us all our lives to achieve.

LAYLAH....loves always yieldeth, love always hardeneth (Alister Crowley).

Welcome to Magic! / Pojecting my will onto others...
February 12, 2004, 09:34:04
There is only so much you can do to help your friends, ultimately they will have to help themselves. However you can go a long way in helping them. ONE way is by calling upon the help of spirits to strengthen your friends resolve and miracles do happen, they may even be freed of their problems. God moves in mysterious ways.

Work with books like "Summoning Spirits" by Konstantinos. This is a very understandable and clearly constructed guide. For a more detailed background on the art of evocation look to "The Practice of Magical Evocation" by Franz Bardon. This can be a bit dry and heavy going but it's very detailed. Both books list various spirits and their attributes. Even some of the old grimoires have useful information that can aid you.

Once you locate the spirit which has the attributes most likely able to help you, you can use prayer in the first instance (we often underestimate the POWER of prayer) before attempting skrying on the astral plane and ultimately physical evocation.

Draw the spirits sigil on clean white paper using an ink colour attributed to the spirits sphere. Meditate on this sigil and call the spirit to prayer asking its help and guidance for your friends. The more you associate yourself and your surroundings with this spirit the more powerful will be your prayer. Try and find as much about the aspects of the spirit as you can, its sphere of origin (Sephira, planet, element). What is its attributes, metal, incense, herb, colour, gem stone, etc. Gather as many of these items as you can around you and try and illuminate your place of prayer with the colour of the sphere of the spirit. Don't worry too much if you cannot achieve all of this what really matters is your belief and sincerity in what you are doing and a WILLingness to succeed.

If you find you need a stronger link with your chosen spirit (likely with lesser spirits) you will need to summon them by skrying or physical evocation. The two books I mentioned explain this in detail, but take heed this can be a long and arduous task.

You can make the spirits sigil into a talisman which you may wish to pass onto your friend for them to keep. Do inform them what this is for and what you hope to achieve by it. The talisman can be made more permenant by engraving the sigil onto the associated metal. If creating a talisman out of a sigil enclose it in two circles and inbetween these circles various names of God and/or the names of the spirits superiors may be written if you so wish.

As I said to you before "seek and you shall find, knock and the door will be opened unto you". If you believe and are sincere in what you are doing your WILL, will succeed.

Use this for postive ends and you will receive positive results, use it for negative ends and you will receive negative results.

A word to the wise is enough.

Welcome to Magic! / Pojecting my will onto others...
February 06, 2004, 10:32:25
I would think thrice before attempting to effect the will of others:
1) why you wish to influence,
2) to want end,
3) and how.
For anything you do by magic will resonate throughout the universe eventually reflecting back on you.

We all have the right to freedom of choice and to be free to make those choices without the influence of others. Advise someone who seeks guidence by all means but ulimately they must take resposibility for their actions as must you.

Many years ago I was asked by a close friend if I would perform a ritual that would seperate an affair his father was having with another woman. This I did and the couple seperated in a short space of time. I know deeply regret performing such an act which acted upon the karma of these two people even though it seemed for a good cause.

Use magic as a path to enlightenment and you will be enlightened. Seek and you shall find, knock and the door shall be opened unto you.
Everything you need is out there you only have to look but no one said it would be easy. I wish you well.

To appreciate the man you should read some of his works. I find 777 (revised) indispensable.

The only thing I suspect of Tolkien is he may have had some knowledge of Enochian Magic. This is speculation on my part.

"Summoning Spirits" by Konstantinos is a wonderful book to guide you to the path of magical evocation.

Please, please do not tred this path out of idle curiosity but use it as way to spiritual enlightenment[:)]

Welcome to Magic! / Familiars
January 09, 2004, 13:54:20
Familiars are normally assigned to you via. the familiars superior spirit be it an angel, demon etc.

Higher spirits normally have legions of spirits under their command which they can assign as a familiar to the magician.

Personally I would not accept the assigning of such a familiar for you must have a very strong will so as not to be deceived or even worse possessed by this spirit. This would not happen if the spirit was angelic but goetic spirits could try and adversly influence a novice magician.

There is an interesting account of such an occurance in Ebenezer Sibly's book "A New and Complete Illustration of the Occult Sciences" (1790) (I think may be available to read on the net on the Sacred Texts site). A one Thomas Perks who in the early 18th century who probably out of idle curiosity called upon spirits which he believed to be angels. In fact all went well until he accepted their familiars. These then started to appear (and I quote) "...as serpents, lions, bears etc, hissing at him and attempting to throw spears and balls of fire..." He could not control them and eventually through absolute terror he became ill and eventually this illness took his life.

I firmly believe if one must use familiar spirits and I don't just mean your family pet, make sure your intensions are honorable and you have clear objectives as to their use. Most of all make sure you have a steadfast willpower that is unshakable whatever may come before thee.
