People interested in this stuff might want to check out Quantum Questions by Ken Wilber. It consists of collected writings of the fathers of QM and shows how they were basically all mystics. I haven't read it myself yet, but I'm sure it's excellent. :)

I'm recommending The Core Program by Peggy Brill, P.T.

Used with care and awareness, this is an excellent book for beginners and for people who are looking to get back to the basics and straighten out their bodies.

The books is an "everyday" workout that targets the core of the body: shoulders, chest, stomach, mid-back, lower back, pelvis, and hips. It's designed to strengthen, but, more importantly, balance the muscles in these areas.

The best part about the book is that it has three levels. You start with the core foundation, then intermediate core, then ultimate core. So, any skill level and ability can begin this program.

The exercises can all be done at home, and there is a full body resistance (weights) program for the upper and lower body in the back. First weight lifting program where I don't feel like I'm damaging some parts of my body to strengthen others.

My posture, martial arts flexibility and stability, and feeling of body-comfort have all greatly improved in the 4-6 months I've been using this book.

Finally, the book is designed specifically for the female body. (Note: I'm a guy. And I have a guy body. :))

If you're looking for a place to get started, this is a good book. If you want to correct imbalances, this is a good book.

Is the masculine/feminine another way of saying yin/yang or electric/magnetic (fluids)?

Also, masculine and feminine both have passive and active aspects. Does this correlate somehow with the four elements?

When I attempt to send a PM and I forget the subject, I am informed that I need one. Going back, all my text is erased. This has happened a couple times. Perhaps this can be eventually addressed? An automatic "no subject" seen by the sender, etc.?

There's whole bunch of things going on in your mind at any one time--what are you trying to silence?

As far as I can tell, here's what most people have:

1) thought stream
2) subvocalization
3) emotion/sensation

As far as I can tell, what most of us are working on is silencing subvocalization. This is the little voice in your head; it's not *you*. This is most people's "reading voice." When most people read, their throat, lips, and tongue make micromovements different from speaking only in magnitude. Fast readers utilize the thought stream--from eyes directly to mind.

I believe that projection requires silencing subvocalization and leaving the thought stream alone (or perhaps focusing the thought stream). (Subvocalization involves micromuscle movement, therefore utilizing the body, therefore locking you in the body.) I forget the exact quote, but Frank has mentioned that his mind is "clear but very active" when he is projecting. (Again I forget the exact words, but that's the gist I picked up...)

How can you separate out what's what in your head? The best way is to practice reading with the thought-stream alone. Then it's easier to differentiate this activity from subvocalization. Count rapidly 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10-1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10... out loud *while reading*. Quickly, you'll be able to read while counting. Now, count silently to yourself *while reading*. If it's light material, like a novel, the words will flash by faster and eventually you'll be able to bring in imagery, etc. This is utilizing the thought stream.

I've just begun practicing this; I still count a lot. But all you need is to get the gist of it, the feel of subvocalization. Then you can *turn it off* -- this is the silencing -- much easier when you know what you're silencing. (Still takes practice!)

Subvocalization feels more linear, one word after another like speaking. Thoughtstream is --bam!-- whole sentence/concept at once. When you're trying to silence the mind, and a full concept rips by, that's probably the thoughtstream. And then when you think, "dammit!" to yourself, you've just subvocalized. :)

Now, on to speculation. You've only got one mouth, but your thought stream can probably subdivide (this is multitasking, letting your mind wander, etc). So, once you turn off subvocalization, you need to focus your mind, bring all the separate streams together. Probably maintaining an image, maintaining localized body awareness, or concentrating on a sensation is best. (If you use a mantra, you risk activating subvocalization!) Another thing to focus on? Projecting! This is concentration, bringing your mind together to one point, one task.

Napping after inadvertent sleep deprivation, all sorts of weird stuff happens. A few times, including just now, I get hit by vibrations, over and over again. And they hurt! Over most of the body it's intense, but not unpleasant, but in at least one spot be it my subnavel storage center or another location (most likely another energy center) it is very unpleasant. This time it was the back of my head. You can feel them about to hit. It's hard for me to describe what the uncomfortableness is. Like a squeezing or a pushing or a clutching maybe that goes up and down with the intensity of the vibrations elsewhere.

I can think of all sorts of reasons why this happens. What I'm really curious about is how common it is. Does anyone else experience pain during vibrations?

I was just curious if anyone has any material as to how we're put together as we step down into the physical.

Is the so-called (first?) higher self on the astral level? Beyond? At what level would all the ego's related to me re-integrate into a higher self, if that's how it works. Which level keeps track of past/future/synchronous selves, etc?

Are there an infinite number of physical universes in a probabilistic sense? Or are there just other unrelated physical universes besides this one?

Is there a single God (or group!) that created humanity that in turn was created by the underlying One? Kinda amazing that we humans seem to have access all the way to One with enough effort, isn't it?

Along with spiritual writings, what are people's experience with the structure out there? What kind of information has been told to you or you've experienced?

Does a more or less un-interrupted ego exist after physical death? When I say more or less, I mean no more interruption then, say, waking up in the morning.

Does anyone have any material on large-scale healing, such reshaping bone, regenerating a lost finger, etc? (I want to heal something not quite so radical related to myself, but I figured I'd ask big.)

Basically, anything that's "locked in," something that healed wrong, or a body part that's supposedly gone forever.

Some ideas I have at the moment are personal focused intent, prayer for higher healing, prayer for more ideas, meditation and raising energy to increase my potential for change.

So many choices for phasing/obe!

There's the Monroe Gateway Program and Holosync, both of which have been mentioned here.

Then there's www.mindsafari.com which they call remote viewing, but if you read between the lines it's also obe related.

And then there's metatones. And there's probably more out there. They all have theoretical baggage, and they're all expensive! Certainly they're worth the price if they do as promised. The mindsafari one paints a particularly fascinating picture, especially the second course of the sequence.

I'm just a little worried about subjecting my brain to one-size-fits-all programs, not to mention a few other things. I've decided to meditate and practice for a month on my own, requesting guidance and assistance to see what happens before I consider one of these programs. (During which I'll see if one of these programs gets recommended to me.)

Hey all,

I can get drifty and start to lose track of my body fairly easily, but breathing problems always bring me back.

I have allergies and breathing through my nose is never entirely effortless, like breathing through one's mouth is.

Question (1) - Are there people out there who can breath as easily through their nose as their mouth while they're lying on their back?

I always feel like I have to keep a little awareness on my air passages for optimum airflow. As soon as I back off it gets harder to breath through my nose. And I don't like to breath through my mouth while attempting to project because it dries out in seconds. Anyway, keeping this awareness on my breath is holding me in body.

Ideas appreciated. I don't really have a reclining chair or anything.

I could add on to this, but I'll start with the above.

Hey all,

The Promise of Sleep by William C. Dement, M.D., Ph. D.

Chapters 3 and 4 talk about sleep debt and circadium rhythms. It goes beyond the basics into fascinating stuff I never knew. It seems likely that properly managing your sleep would lead to enhanced dream recall and more ease in maintaining the body asleep / mind awake state.

I didn't understand sleep until I read these chapters. Yeah we all need more sleep, but research has shown that the body carefully keeps track of our sleep debt and we carry it with us for weeks. An understanding of how to work (sleep) off this debt and manage it in the future seems invaluable to those of our persuasion.

Also, this implications of his research are fascinating on a philosophical level as well.

Thank you for your progress report. You seem to be getting on really well with the NEW system. To answer your question concerning how NEW can be used to heal others...

Healing was my first love. It is a subject close to my heart.

What you have been doing will work well. Simply draw energy up your legs and 'feel' it moving down your arm(s) and into your patient.

A higher level of healing can be achieved if you have a little practice working with the primary centres.

For this method (which is the one I have used all my life for contact healing) prestimulate feet and legs, then use the full body circuit a few times. When you are ready to begin, sit your patient down and ask them to close their eyes (if this is appropriate, depending on the circumstances).

Close your eyes and relax for a few moments. Say a simple prayer for healing for the patient, i.e., "Beloved Father, please give healing to this person." but keep it simple. Place your hands on the patient and draw energy up through your legs and torso to your heart centre, and feel the energy overflowing in a Y shape and pouring down both your arms, and into your patient.

The breathing below is comprised of full inhales and exhales.

During each IN breath, draw energy to your heart centre and feel it accumulating therein until your lungs are full.

During each OUT breath, push the energy from your heart, down your arms and into your patient.

Continue the above process until the heart centre strobes several times. When this happens, you will feel a whole body orgasmic sensation. Energy will pulse powerfully into your patient. The heart centre strobe is a very noticeable, pleasurable sensation for the healer. When the strobe happens, the intensity of your breathing may increase quite a bit; this is normal. It can be quite a breathtaking sensation.

The strobe will pulse several times, with its intensity being affected by the energy deficit in the patient. If, after the first strobing pulses, the healer continues pumping energy into the patient, the heart centre can be made to strobe again, sometimes with several 'episodes' groups of pulsing. But one or two sets of strobing are generally enough for a single healing session.

The heart centre accumulates secondary energy, as energy is passed through it. But while this is happening, healing is still taking place through the secondary level. Whether or not the heart centre can be made to strobe will depend on development. But this will happen if you keep practicing. The best way to practice is to give healing to those whom need it.

The above can also be applied to distance healing.

A letter, photograph or email letter (onscreen or printed) can be used to make the connection. If you personally know the patient, this in itself is enough, and you can then just 'imagine' them being in front of you.

For distance healing, what I call 'computer healing' do the following.

Sit in front of your pc, with the letter onscreen.

Close eyes, relax, trance if possible, and say a healing prayer for the patient.

Raise energy as per the contact healing method given above.

Imagine the patient's head is directly in front of you, within easy reach. Perfection is not required, just imagine generally.

Reach out and place your hands (your real hands) onto the imagined head.

Pulse the healing energy through the heart centre, as per normal contact healing.

You'll find the results are the same. If your patient is also relaxing, they will often feel your hands and the healing energy flowing into them.

This works well on a chat or talk program, where the patient relaxes, closes eyes and receives the healing as the healing is being given.

The above method, when used a lot, programs your energy body to respond to sick people, or people low on energy. You will find, in time, the healing will begin accumulating in your heart centre, and flowing into a patient in need, whenever you are close to one in person, or connected to one, i.e., email, chat, etc.

With more practice, the healing act, with full heart centre strobing, can be accomplished in under thirty seconds. This makes it possible to treat a great many patients, if one has a healing centre.

This level of healing is invigorating for the healer and does not take energy from them. It can, however, make one hungry; especially if many patients are treated in a row.

The amount of energy that can be produced, especially for those new to healing, is increased by the trance state. This is part of the reason why I always recommend people develop a robust trance state, so they can operate from within it, i.e., be able to move their arms and talk, etc.

This is the simplest and most powerful healing technique I know of.

Just for interest......

25 years ago, when I opened my first healing centre, my first patient was an 11 year old boy with a serious eye disorder. He wore thick, shot-glass glasses, and was steadily going blind. During three subsequent weekly visits, his eyes improved to the point where he threw away his glasses. Worried, his mother took him to the eye doctor where he was tested for new glasses. His doctor was amazed as the boy now had 20/20 vision. I met this boy, now a man of 36, a few weeks ago. He still has perfect eyesight, and still gave me a hug, just like he used to after healing.


Anyway, back to work for me. I hope this helps....

My friend emailed this to me:

"Also strange is that my [...] whatever you called them have
been increasing. I think it's stress, I've never had this many at once. I'll
just be half asleep and see some wierd thing hovering over me.  I know that
I'm some what awake for some of them, because I can feel that I pull the
covers over my head. It's not like a daily occurence, but I'd like to figure
out if there's something I can do to prevent them. Some outlet I need to use
to destress perhaps."

Of note, she thinks my "energy stuff" is pretty out there. And, I think she finds the idea of non-physical entities pretty laughable.

In any case, comment and suggestions welcome. This is really just an FYI. I'm either going to send her a copy of PPSD, or try and coach her defenses up from a non-occult perspective, depending on receptivity. But, in the unlikely event that there's a  "quick fix" for her, that'd be great. Hey all,

I've just finished reading Quantum-Touch by Richard Gordon (2002). I'd like to recommend it as must have for those interested in energy healing. The beginning exercises are uncannily similar to NEW (body awareness), which gives it much credibility in my mind. Furthermore, using the techniques in the book, I had an extremely intense energy session last night, and I only expect it to get better as I practice.

Think of breathing techniques, toning (voice vibrations), and healing explained as simply as our RB explains NEW, and you'll get a good idea of how the book is written.

The core of the healing is sweeping energy just like NEW's full body circuit, but instead of storing the energy, it's pushed out the hands. Yes, obvious, but the book is much, much more than that. http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/images/icon_Smile.gif" border=0>

The author goes as far as to claim structural re-allignment, when the body needs it, among other things, and there're several before and after pictures, so I have no reason to disbelieve at this point.

I don't think this is the complete picture. (I'm not saying you do either, of course.)

I do agree there are obvious connection points. There seems to be a one-to-one correspondence between the chakras and the endocrine system. There also seems to be a correspondence between nerve clusters and secondary energy centers. So, there seems to be a complicated energy body within the complicated physical body, and they interact. Some people even claim that all physical illness is the result of energy body imbalances. I don't think this is likely because when I got an almost-broken bone, for example, I felt an energy blockage in this area. I would personally like to assume that the energetic body completely governs the physical body--it would be comforting to me--but it's quite a sweeping claim that shouldn't be automatically assumed. Certainly they influence each other, and healing one side would dramatically influence the other.

Another thing that confuses me is that the energy body has structure. Within this structure is more energy. We move it up and down, push it out of our hands, feel it. How is "loose" energy different from the structure of the energy body? How is this structure maintained? We have bones, tissue, and skin, and fluid such as blook flows through this structure. Maybe the energetic situation is analogous.

So, what is the mechanism for the energy body to interact with physical reality? I personally think it's through quantum uncertainty. Until a particle is observed, some of its attributes are undefined. There is an inherent randomness and uncertainty in the fabric of physical reality. Experiments by the PEAR group [http://www.princeton.edu/~pear/], for example, have determined that human consciousness has a small but statistically significant effect on probabalistic events. It has been proven that human consciousness affects reality. (Also see Reinventing Medicine by Larry Dossey(?)) I personally believe that this manipulation of reality, the manifestation of human will, is through quantum uncertainty. A whole bunch of random events, instead of canceling each other out, line up to our will, and miracles happen.

Internal neuron function in the brain is still unexplained. It has been hypothesized that quantum effects, electron tunneling, determine whether neurons fire. (Physics of Consciousness, by Evan Walker) Perhaps our eternal consciousness manifests on a physical level through quantum effects in the human brain. Maybe we control our bodies through quantum effects.

To jump back to healing... Given quantum mechanics, it is physically possible (though infinitesimely probable) that the chair I'm sitting on now could disappear from under me and reappear five feet to my right, causing me to fall to the ground. The length of time to go by for this to actually have a high probability of occuring is as long as several lifetimes of the universe, but it's possible. I think this "anything can happen" reality is how healing can take place. I think energy might be likened in some way to "potential." The more energy we have, and the more focused our will, the greater the "probabalistic override" of reality.

P.S. What if energy doesn't really "flow like water?" What if, as we move our awareness around, we're creating weird reality fluctuations that cause sensations in our nerves, and makes our brain do funny things? That doesn't explain all the spontaneous buzzing activity I get. And, there really does seem to be structure... And there really is a flowing "feeling." But it's so weird that we can lump this stuff up and push it around with our minds. I like it, but I can't make sense of it. You can't bunch up electric current and push it around. I guess it's a bad analogy.

Welcome to Metaphysics! / "Strobe" Followup

Hey all,

There've been a couple threads on flashing lights behind the eyes. I've begun to experience this myself, and I was wondering if anyone has gotten anywhere with it.

The flashes are a dim white, always at the same frequency, relatively quick. I series of flashes usually lasts about a second and a half. I'm starting to see recognizable images and blob-like stuff in my mind's eye.  But as of now, I'm still classifying it as imagination.

I just remembered, the flashes have started to come on different sides of my field of view. Sometimes off to the side, or above.

Here's a little survey, because I'm trying to figure out this "sex" thing.

Do you think about sex more than you'd like, or let sex influence you more than you'd like?

Even if your answer is no, I'd still be curious about your thoughts.

If you answer is yes, why do you think that's the case?

Hormones (just because we're human), societal inundation (we're indoctrinated), religious issues (it's been blown out of proportion), unseen influences (true influence from beyond the physical)?

As long as I'm trying to figure out the meaning of everything, I might as well try and figure out the meaning of sex too. Why sex? It's like eating and drinking and other "human" impulses. But it seems that the concept of sex extends beyond the physical world.

Why are people so hung up about sex? And are we just wasting our time?

How does being a spiritual entity relate to being a sexual entity?

I hate glasses and contact lenses (I'm fairly near-sighted), so here's what I'm doing:

1. I have created and will maintain constructs or "shields" around my eyes programmed to alter the shape of my eyeballs and lenses.

2. When I have free time I do two step energy raising. Inhaling and raising energy into my heart chakra, and then exhaling and channeling this energy into my eyes with the intent of healing.

3. Praying for perfect vision.

4. Using the the wrapping technique on my eyeballs.

5. And, of course, wearing glasses and contacts as little as possible. (Rather difficult when I'm in class or at the computer, but I'm doing my best. http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/images/icon_Smile.gif" border=0>)

I'll certainly post if I notice any subjective improvement, and of course if my prescription changes, as diagnosed by my optometrist.

Anyone have comments, suggestions, stories, or ideas?

I'm probably jumping the gun here, but here's what I think:

This new layout may be intimidating and confusing to people trying to share and obtain information.

People without the latest browsers, large monitors, and fast connections will have trouble viewing this site.

Handicapped individuals will probably find it impossible to use this site.

I think.

I don't know if the new look is permanent, or if it's just a test, etc, etc, but the above is my opinion.

Simplicity is best when trying to reach a broad audience.

Hi!

My name's Mark. I'm 21 years old and I'm third year student majoring in Computer Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Illinois here in the States. I've been into martial arts for about 10 years, I love to read, and I'm interested in constructed languages.

My dad's experimented with alternative means of healing for a long time. When he started doing something called Golden Shield Qigong I became interested, but didn't have the time to practice myself. And, frankly, people punching and hitting each other with sticks seemed a little too intense for me.

But anyway, I found Spring Forest Qigong a few years later and practiced for about a year, until I found NEW.

I was looking for information on visualization on the web, and found an article by Robert Bruce. I found it to be well written, and his discussion of energy agreed with my own experience in Spring Forest Qigong. When I read about Astral Projection, I freaked out. If he says energy is for real, and my experience confirms this, then maybe AP was real too.

So here I am.

I'm interested in energy work, defense and understanding of unseen influences, projection as a tool for understanding and exploration, healing, spirtual advancement, and doing cool things with my mind to freak my friends out. (Nothing yet!) And I just want to understand the nature of the greater reality.

Sound off, people! Who else is out there?

I've noticed that energy work seems to physically relax my body. Also, RB indicates somewhere that the Rope Technique can bring on the heavy trance state.

I used to progressively relax my body, starting with the toes, then the feet, then calves, knees, etc. These body parts would begin to fizz and tingle as I reached them. And then I'd begin to lose track of them. My arms and legs would be like logs.

Here is a technique I have found very effective that puts energy work and progressive relaxation together.

1. Focus on your toes. Tell yourself that your toes relax. The joints, the muscles become completely relaxed. Do each set of toes separately, if necessary. Do an opening awareness action around and through each set of toes separately. This is exactly like the tearing / bread breaking awareness action. Feel your toes opening up.

2. Focus on your feet. Tell your feet to relax, that your feet are becoming completely relaxed. Feel the tendons relax, the soul of the foot, the top of the foot. Do a gentle opening awareness action through each foot separately. Feel your feet opening up.

And so on...

3. Ankles
4. Lower leg / calves
5. Knees
6. Upper leg / thighs
7. Hips, groin creases, buttocks
8. Lower back
9. Fingers
10. Hands,
11. Forearms
12. Elbows
13. Upper arms
14. Shoulders

15. Feel your whole back and shoulders relaxing, sinking into the bed. Start at the base of your spine. Do a tearing awareness action, perpendicular to your spine, pulling away from your spine on each side. Move slightly up the spine and repeat, traveling all the way to the neck.

16. Repeat (15.) on the front of the body.

17. Gently open the neck, head, and face. Progressively relaxing each part. Feel your lips droop, your face relax, your forehead becoming unlined, your eyelids gently staying closed without any effort.

I've found progressively opening and relaxing the entire body is extremely effective for getting me into that "ready" state. I'm a log by the time I'm finished.

Now I just need to work on my mind.

Does anyone have similar techniques or suggestions for modifying this one?

At least three times, I rolled partially out of my body! It's real! It's incredible!

Ok, I have a question. As I tipped out, lying face down next to my body, I couldn't breath, presumably because I didn't have any lungs.

But this was very disconcerting, and I felt very much like I should take a breath, so I rolled back in. I took a few breaths, tipped back out, and couldn't breath again. I felt like I was "running out of air" but it could have been my imagination.

Besides "don't focus on it so it's not an issue" does anyone have any suggestions?
