I suggest (as lionheart) to forget about setting SP as your goal.  Additionally I suggest trying an indirect method as opposed to the direct method which it seems you are trying now.  Instead of lying down trying to obtain SP, just go to sleep (assuming you try on a night in bed).  Just lying down and trying to project is very hard to do for your first exit.  Here is what I suggest:

Go to bed on a night (maybe earlier than usual providing you can get to sleep).  Have strong intentions that you will project AND set strong intentions that you WILL wake up after, say 4 hours, of sleep and remain still.  This may take some practice but eventually you will wake up after the set time and you will also be aware that you should remain still.  Do not move.  Remain focussed and (for me at least) within seconds you will transition.  You may hear noises or other sensations - ignore them and keep your focus.  At this point hopefully you will find yourself ready to "exit" (although I dont like the term exit).

Another great time to try is if you have a lie in and just stay in bed, slipping in and out of sleep.  You will be in purely REM at this time and if you keep it in your mind about staying still and projecting, the same situation as above should present itself.

Hi agree with Szaxx - SP and Vibrations are not required at all and should not be a focus.

The thing is, when beginning to project its easier to wrap your head around the whole thing if you set attainable goals such as achieving SP or vibes, as if you are hitting milestones on the path to projection when you get them - I know I certainly started this way.  However the fact is (for me at least) that the act of projecting is the whole sum and while setting markers such as SP and vibes may help you ease your mind into it, I dont think its necessarily the best way to actually achieve a projection.  Setting these markers is in my opinion over complicating matters.  Its like riding a bike or driving a car.  It may help in the beginning to set up markers to prime your mind (Mirror, signal Maneuver etc) but once you learn to drive, you just...DRIVE!  Projection (again, in my opinion) is the same.  Setting these markers does help prime the mind but I dont think it helps necessarily with projecting.  In my case, whenever I focussed on these markers (SP or vibes specifically) I used to note them as such and get over excited to have hit a MARKER that the projection failed.  When I learned to focus ONLY on projection, in essence ignoring anything up until that point, is when I succeeded.  Sure, vibes happened initially but by not putting them up there as a milestone, it enabled me to remain focussed on the real goal of projection.

But hey, if SP and Vibrations are how you project then great, its just not how it works for me.

Thank you all for the suggestions.  I have Radugas ebook and tried all the techniques he calls deepening.

I think my problem is that when I think of prolonging I am also thinking of the experience ending, hence why I want to prolong!  So I think the thought of prolonging brings about thoughts of ending and this is what brings me out.

I like the suggestion of changing scenery - I think that might work.  Rather than thinking about prolonging (which brings about thoughts of ending) I will try to ignore both and just change scenery.

Thanks again!

Hi All, its been a while since I posted due to work and other things, however my practices have not stopped, although reduced somewhat over the last 6 months or so.

Anyway, I can project fairly easily now when the conditions are correct (which, because I am not consciously trying to project may be a week or so in between).  However something which I still struggle with is prolonging the experience.  Projections I would say last up to 5 minutes (perceived time) which is not enough for me to do what I want.

I have tried the many exercises I have read about to prolong (rubbing hands, meditating whilst projecting etc) however none seem to work.  In fact the thought of prolonging once I am projecting often shortens the experience further.

Can anyone offer any suggestions?

I do not believe in other bodies.  I believe we are pure consciousness and thats it.  It may FEEL like another body but its not really.  Its just our minds projecting into something we feel is familiar - a body.

Hey Marley, im sure people will have an opinion but from what you wrote I (personally) have no clue what you are asking for?

What paths do you have as options?
What do you see as your transit period?
Where do you want to go?

My view is this:  I cant shake the feeling that someone or something (which, btw I believe was us) created us.  Its just a logical conclusion.  But religion, to me, doesnt mean "oh lets praise a god"...religion in its current state is a form of control.  Plain and simple.  Religion is bad, belief in a "god" is not.  As long as its a personal belief and not something from a book then I will listen to anyone.

It can, but it's not easy.  The reason is that most of the time, when you realize you're not awake you then wake up.  But, if you can manage to become lucid and not wake up, you're there already.  If you have the time and it happens, just keep your eyes closed and go back to trance, and separate again, with full awareness.

Agreed.  But I will also add, I think that a False Awakening IS an OBE, you just dont know it.

Hello all,
\Can you get "high" in the astral? Could I smoke hookah in the astral? Are these stupid questions?

There is no such thing as a stupid question :)  My view is this:  Weed affects the physical body.  When you project you are not physical, therefore completely negating any physical effects.  I do however believe that weed can help to project by separating the mind from the body.  However, where I live, I f I smoked weed I would be jailed for years so I dont know how it affects projection as I havent had any for 5 years :)

Wow man, what a great read.

I personally hate religion.  I believe nobody should have their path TOLD to them through anyone elses experiences.  Religion is not a belief in God its a belief in what the "book" tells you.  I believe that you should make your own religion through personal experiences, and reading what you wrote tells me you just had that experience.  Thanks for sharing.

Question for everyone, please.

How long does it take before you receive something you want using LofA??  For example if you need a new car, does it take days, weeks, months, years??!  I know its different for everyone, but please post your own personal experience(s) as to how long it took before you received what you wanted using LofA

Before (LONG before) I even heard of the Law of Attraction I was implementing it.  I dont say this lightly, or with any kind of bragging... but everything and I mean EVERYTHING ive ever wanted, I have.  When I wanted them, I KNEW I was going to get them and so thought in that way.  I didnt think "oh man I dont have it" I thought "I KNOW one day I will have it".  Literally everything.  Some examples....

I used to have a list of things I wanted to do.  Ive done them all.  Abseiling, caving, scuba diving, sky diving.  Done them all.  I am now a fully qualified SCUBA diver (advanced PADI) and also a fully qualified sky diver (B license).

I always KNEW I would have a Mustang GT.  Being from the UK this is a very rare thing.  I have now had 2 mustang GTs.

I wanted to be earning 30,000 pound a year by the time I was 30. Im now 29 and earn much more than that.

I wanted to leave the UK - which alot of people want but never do.  Ive now been living out of the UK for 5 years.

I wanted to meet someone who was like me and not from the UK.  Ive been married to my perfect girl (from Lebanon) for 4 years now.

I always hated working my arse of for others, so wanted to work for myself in my dream job.  Now I own my own photography business.

Basically the things I have wanted are way more than most people from my area want or will ever achieve.  I wanted them, no...I KNEW I would have them and I have.

I can name more but you get my point.  The Law of Attraction really works but I agree with other posters.  You cannot want too much because wanting is caused by worrying about whether or not you will get it.  KNOWING you will get it is the key. I know I used the word "wanted" above but its really not wanting, its knowing. It was after all of the above happened that I read the secret and heard about the LOA and I realised at this time that I had been doing it all along.

Listen, everything is about intent.  REAL intent.  OBE's, LOA..everything...is intent.  Just dont let that intent become a want because wanting something is different from you intending to have it.  Wanting is fueled by not having, intent is fueled by knowing you will have it.  I know this is not a OBE discussion but its exactly the same.  Those who WANT OBE's have trouble.  Those who intend to and know they will, have more success.  Intent is the key for everything in life.  In my opinion.  Intent is raw consciousness.  Its what the consciousness feels and therefore draws what it needs.  You can say one thing, but if you intend different then your screwed.

Not sure I have explained myself correctly but I hope you get what I mean.

EDIT:  I also want to clarify...the things that happened didnt just present themselves on a plate, each one was based upon a choice I made.  The LOA doesnt just gift you things, you have to take advantage of a situation which will be presented to you.  For example...the thing about my having my own business. I wanted to do it for years, But I was earning a LOAD of money in my previous job.  So I wouldnt have quit.  Then I got stabbed in the back and fired (long story).  I could have looked for another similar job and earned the same or more monthly wage.  But I knew what I wanted, and I knew this was my chance. I could have gotten another job but I was presented with an opportunity to start my own business.  I took it.

Or get up very early in the morning (two hours before regular wakeup time, your REMs are buzzing then) and try to project then- get up, walk around, go back to bed (in a different position than sleeping position), get back to trance, and when something happens, try an exit technique.  An active technique, not just hoping to start floating all of a sudden.

Exactly.  The sleep cycle provides an amazing opportunity for projection - use it.  REM is ideal.

I have tried many as I have read of many in books by Sylvan Muldoon, Scott Rogo, Monroe,
Llewellyn, William Buhlman etc.

Have you considered using the natural sleep cycles for your attemps?  For me, these are WAY easier than trying from a fully awakened state.  Once you can master this, then move onto consciously projecting.

I would say you probably need a new approach. If you're dependent on the weekends for it, it's probably going to be a lot harder. It's more of a lifestyle than a weekend hobby and you have to live it everyday. You may not project everyday, but your life will be effected by it everyday. It's more than just floating out of your body, it's also about changing the way you think and perceive the world.

Maybe rather that just 2 OBE attempts a week, do some shorter (15-20 min) daily meditations during the week and attempt an exit on the weekend. Putting concentration into daily meditation may greatly increase your chances of success when you do make a serious attempt. It'll help in other areas of life as well.

What he said.

I will also add that trying too hard (especially as youre limiting yourself to 2 days) will not work.  Relax.  Have the intent.  Most of my projections come when I think about having one, but not trying.  Can I ask what method do you currently use?

I'm not sure what dream re-entry is. Is it where you go back into the same dream you just woke from?

Yes, but not necessarily one you have just woken up from, any dream you can recall.

Hello, I am currently exploring dream re-entry.

I have read the methods of Robert Moss but have had little success. I am just wondering if anyone has had success with this and what your methods are?

I dont necessarily think someone else is controlling your dreams, however I do believe they are precognitive in nature.

While this maybe something non-physical, when it comes to vision I always recommend getting your eyes checked by an opthamologist, THEN move onto exploring non-physical possibilities.

Seeing dots could indicate retinal detachment - this is probably unlikely as  you have seen these all your life but its worth a quick check :)

Thanks Vedyl

Has anyone ever tried to re-enter a dream/projection using a technique as described by Robert Moss or similar?  I want to give it a go but to my knowledge only he seems to know how to do it!  He gives a technique but its never worked for me.

Hi all, I had a weird nights sleep last night in that I didnt actually sleep much at all!  I was pretty much constantly drifting into hypnogogia and then waking the entire night.  In the early hours of the morning I started seeing one, and only one, image during hypnogogia.  It was a black and white scene of a countryside.  It was very static and very solid.  It didnt change through 6 or 7 spells of hypogogia.  At one point I phased into the image and it started becoming less static, but still black and white.  Then I got this feeling of something chasing me, so I ran away.  Then I realised that if something was chasing me I didnt need to run.  Now I dont remember what happened but I know I stopped and confronted it.  I then remember feeling amazing joy and then the scenery went from B&W to colour and it was vibrant and alive.  I then had a false awakening still full of joy knowing that I had accomplished something.  Then I felt something tugging at my feet in bed and I just laughed at it and told it to get off, as if it was a playful child. I then woke up.  I remembered everything, including what I had accomplished and the reason for it, but I never wrote it down.  Now this is all I can remember :(  I hope the reason comes back to me because I really feel I did something worthwhile.

An OBE is the physical experience of being mind awake body awake, to mind awake body asleep, and physically experiencing the separation from your body.
Hi Spatialreason, I know the reasons for you saying this is a "physical" experience, because it FEELS physical, however I really honestly think there is nothing physical going on when you "separate".  Logically, it cannot be physical because you are LEAVING the physical by means of a non-physical phenomenon.  Projection of consciousness by definition is non-physical.

Quote
If you are in an LD, you have already avoided this possibility by falling asleep, the fact that you are dreaming indicates this. So to OBE from an LD, technically, you would have to slighly waken yourself up (hopefully not to quickly or too much) and try and catch yourself waking up

Exactly right.  This technique has worked 100% of the time for me.  When in an LD I know I am in a "dream" (although I dont like that term), therefore I can choose when to wake up (if I dont wake up automatically) which means I transition from the non-physical to the physical without losing consciousness which means I know I am waking up.  With this in mind, I can choose when already asleep not to move when I awake.

Jesus smoke your one messed up and INTERESTING dude

I dont necessarily think messed up is the right term, i think he just brain dumps his entire feelings and thoughts, which are unfiltered, making it very hard for us to get what he means :)

Regardless, I love reading his posts :)
