The OBE experiences I have had have almost always occurred within dreams. Sometimes right smack dab in the middle. I am usually laying down to fall asleep and sometimes I even believe that I am awake only to be disappointed when I wake up for real in my physical bed (which is usually different from within the dream). Rather than bore you will all the times this has happened, I will skip ahead.

Most of my experiences have occurred in the morning. I can't for the life of me get one as I'm just relaxing or going to bed. They are usually easier than a thought. I just have the random thought "ok, time to float into the air" and then do so. I have the most success, ironically, by laying on my side. I will just "roll over" to get out of my body. Looking at my [astral] hands as I roll over helps too.

After rolling over, I will myself slightly into the air. I am completely lucid, however I don't act as expected. Such as, I never have an interest in looking down at my body or checking for a silver cord. I really just don't care, though I am always filled with excitement. My body (or lack thereof) feels exhilarating and I feel the vibration of energy at my core.

What makes me start doubting the authenticity of these experiences is that while my bedroom looks how it should, if I try to go out the door, it stops looking how it should. I am a very slow floater (um...) and I haven't been able to get my feet on the ground (nor do I feel like it at the time). I'm curious if this is pretty common: being lucid, but still not acting like you'd think your lucid self would act. Once I made it to the bathroom door and I was so excited! But inside was completely different, making me think that I wasn't actually having an OBE. Also, I am unsubstantial so like my hand will pass through like the window or wall, but whenever I try to go all the way through, I am pulled back into my body, ending the experience. I want to explore so bad! I read stories where people can will themselves up to zoom into the air and look down at the universe... And here I am stuck in my bedroom... >_> ugh!

I am still rather new to this from the outside perspective so any comments are super appreciated.

This struck me as weird, mostly because of the sensation that was created.

I was enjoying my dream as usual. I'm usually aware that I'm dreaming, though I don't make an extra effort to manipulate things. I just enjoy the ride. The content isn't really the point, I was just walking around my old neighborhood from my childhood and random stuff was happening. I am a female, but myself in the dream was male. Same age and everything and I really didn't look much different. I just knew I was male. I've been a male version of myself before so I really didn't think much of it. Then I was suddenly my female self... also there in the dream. So I had two consciousnesses at once. Now that was weird. I was in complete control of male me and female me, but separately. We just kind of stared at each other thinking individually that it was pretty weird.

My consciousness has been split in dreams before. Sometimes 1st person and 3rd person at the same time or me observing myself from a different level of consciousness while a more physical form of myself was unaware of my higher consciousness. But two first persons at once? That was a bit much! Anyone else have this happen before? I apologize if I sound confusing.

I'm finally joining a forum that focuses on these kinds of discussions... The places I have been seeking are quite lacking in this area. I'm excited! >_>

Hi, I am Chopstick Fox and I am from China. I experience lucid dreams and I believe I have been OBE/astral traveling as well. Though most of mine have occurred while within dreams. Yay spontaneously detaching from my body while dreaming! :D I find dreams so incredibly fascinating and believe that in understanding myself I will attain a greater understanding of the universe. So... I look forward to poking my nose around the forum.

I do believe myself spiritually to be kitsune/fox and identify with the otherkin community. I hope that does not offend anyone, but in forewarning, I do not often find myself in human form within realms other than our physical one.

I enjoy drawing, singing, and pretending to play the guitar. I also love chickens and owls.
