101  Energy Body and The Chakras / Welcome to Energy Body and The Chakras / GROUNDING- Please help! on: January 05, 2005, 04:51:36
Hi,

Simple practical things really!

1. Cut out stimulants, alcohol and narcotics. Correct me if am am wrong, but did I notice that you said that you smoke marijuana often. For some it may be a useful prop, but in the long run it is not really beneficial to effective grounding. Try to cut back if you can't cut it out.

2. Light exercise - outdoors if possible. Long walks in fresh air in the country side can do wonders.

3. Keep good company, avoid people you bring you down!

4. A quick fix is to eat... not to excess obviously... light healthy snacks especially after meditation or energy work will bring one back to earth as will liquid intake (water preferably).

Hope this helps,

Stephen

Amma to dedicate One Billion to Reconstruct Homes

http://www.ammachi.org/

http://www.amritapuri.org/tsunami/billion.php

A friend sent me this thought: -

"Dear friends

For those of you who would like to give money/aid to the people of SE Asia but are reluctant to give to large charities and feel sceptical about the Aid reaching the people in need, maybe you would like to consider giving donations to Mother Amma who is an amazing Indian women who runs a number of humanitarian programmes.

Mother Amma is leading rescue, relief and rehabilitation operations all along the Indian coastline and is giving 1 billion rupees to reconstruct homes, schools and hospitals. Please see her web site to find out more. I feel its important to give to those working on the ground.

Many blessings to you all"

As well as your question, Time Traveler, about imagery, Id like to know where hypnogogic images "stops" and phasing "starts"? Or are they the same thing? Ive had a similar experience just yesterday and dont know how to classify it. Can you "phase" into hypnogogic images?

Hi Jaw,

Hope you don’t mind me coming in here. I’m probably not the best person to answer here… but noticed that Major Tom answered a similar question you had on another thread, and I am sure MT, Frank and others more familiar with phasing might be able to proffer a better explanation than me.

I know this is slightly away from the subject: yet a similar question of differentiation occurs when attempting to judge whether imagery is hypnagogic or pure clairvoyance (psychic or mediumistic). People sitting for those types of development also experience much the same sequence of changing awareness of perception when moving from normal consciousness to whatever altered/trance state they intend to work with be it for clairvoyance or other types of work.

In early stages of development the student will often get all manner of imagery. Although they will tend to random and meaningless until one places an element of focus on the matter. A typical example might be where a tutor of circle leader might take a group through say for instance a meet your guide type scenario. In that case imagery may come into clearer focus as ones imagination is able to utilise the suggestions made by the tutor. Once the tutor feels that each member of the group has reached a comfortable level of trance an invitation is made for inspirers or guides to draw close into each person’s field of awareness. After that it’s between individual and the guide. To close the tutor will bring the group back to room usually by retracing the steps already taken etc.

For the perceiver typically (in addition to a variety of sensations) one might go from seeing the backs of their eyelids to some hypnagogic images static and or moving, then darkness followed by the formation of the classic vision screen maybe with some astral sight; then as the trance deepens the tutors suggestions might kick in and one begins to be aware of being in the visualisation. Perhaps one might move though it and they might meet and see guide or an aspect of them (perhaps a symbolic representation of them which one would say recognise from say prior contact etc), or at least an awareness of their presence. As the student is brought back to awareness of their physical surroundings… the imagery may simply fade to grey, but often some other aspect of clairvoyant imagery is given by the spirit or higher self (if that was the intention) before the meditation or attunement has completed. Any sensible circle leader would then ensure by observing each member of the group that no one makes a disturbance until everyone has come back etc.

For myself – I often have difficultly in going to an OBE state as along the way (I assume somewhere in Focus 10) I get caught up with awareness of spirit people coming in and get tempted to have a chat etc. Do have a look at Major Tom’s thread ‘Mind awake/Body asleep’ see: http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=13644 by the way.

Although in that type of case I am quite used to differentiating between other impressions and spirit presence including imagery given and simple mind stuff thrown up by the subconscious. Luckily they are now used me to attempting astral projection and now seem to give me a bit more rope with that aspect of my practice.

A similar problem comes about with sensing energy, in that if ones has a steady practice of NEW or any other energy raising work it can become difficult to determine some aspects of clairsentience (feelings), again for example when working psychically with an other individual or with spirit. Many of the energy rushes and tingles ones becomes aware of when working with spirit as they interact with ones energy field feel much the same as the sensations ones experiences with energy work. So for instance the precursor tingles to the classic pre-exist vibrations accompanying projection can be confused with spirit contact. One way of testing this is to send a thought to spirit to seek confirmation that it is in fact them or not. This might also be confused or compounded if one is able to exercise controlled movement of energy to specific areas of the body etc. Of course practice makes one proficient with these things, but again it is always worth a double take if one is unsure.

Obviously similar issues exist with senses of hearing, internal sounds, smell etc. Yet gain practice leads to discernment. So if one works with trance states whether it be for channelling self healing, mediumship or psychic awareness and OBE practice... it really is a matter of choosing the manner in which one wishes to work by applying appropriate focus.

Again pardon me drifting away from the thread, but I hope that these illustrations show in small part that developing extrasensory awareness is fascinating, has a much wider scope than we might have imagined and can be a great learning and growth promoting experience for us all.

Best,

A couple of days ago I woke in the morning and I was raising energy through my body and I had something strange happen. My eyes were closed and I saw a grayish reflection of my face. An image then opened in my head. It was like a cartoon..of a cat dancing. Lasted only about ten seconds and then it vanished. I had another one today. My eyes were closed and I had a flash of a picture. It was very fast but it looked like something that was outdoors. Does anyone know what this might be? I read somewhere about somebody describing these same kind of things.

Hi Time Traveler,

Interesting!

Looks like some good clairvoyance or a couple of short OBEs. The only anomaly being the cat dancing, which sounds like simple hypnagogic imagery dropped on to your minds eye by your subconscious! Regardless of what terminology you prefer it looks like you had some good success.

I often get outdoor imagery returned to my mind eye. Please allow me to tell of a recent example I had at the recent workshop… I related back to Robert Bruce that I had was aware of viewing an outdoor scene – not dissimilar to the Brecon Beacon’s location near Buckland Hall. Robert fed back that I most probably had a short OBE.

Now one might say that after a long drive and a couple of restful days at the Hall one might when in a deeply relaxed state rekindle such scenery! Now in my case the imagery I was aware of was form an elevated vantage point at least 50 – 100 ft above the countryside of tree lined hills and a lakeside. Incidentally although I knew there was a river nearby I had not been aware that there was a lake. I later double checked this and found that there was in fact one nearby. This got me to thinking as I had no awareness of dislocation from the body as the imagery had come to mind whilst I was sitting and feeling as if I was still seated in my chair in lecture room. How could I accommodate for this? One way might be to consider it as a form of remote viewing or clairvoyance. So if it were OBE then the only way to account for this would be that an aspect of my mind had perceived the scenery and on bringing it back to my body location as a memory to be replayed before my minds eye. Perhaps this was a type of memory download situation! No matter how we try to define and label experience - it was fun!

Anyhow hope this simple example makes something of a comparison with your experiences above.

Best,

Dear Cobalt,

To follow on from daemOn's thought the very wish to offer to be of service to help those in need brings about action - in this case for greater good. Or for example in spiritualist terms it might mean 'no thought (wish/prayer) is ever missed (by guides etc)!

Just because you might not be consciously aware that you wish well for others, does not mean that an aspect of yourself is not working wonders in dimensions of reality beyond the physical!

Your thoughts and therefore you make a difference.

Good on you,

Hi,

Gagging feelings, excess mucus and a need to swallow are quite normal side effects of working with deep relaxation exercises etc.

Looks like you have been experiencing some throat center activity, and these sensations are also associated with the body becoming deeply relaxed while your mind is in the trance or altered state. It will clear given a bit of time and is nothing to worry about.

You are doing fine,

Stephen
120  Energy Body and The Chakras / Welcome to Energy Body and The Chakras / Closing chakras ? on: December 24, 2004, 16:05:53
Hi,

This question was raised by someone and then answered by Robert during the recent Wales workshop.

In other words he made it very clear that attempts to practice chakra closing exercises to reduce energy center activity will only result in stimulating them further.

To allow them to get back to their natural base level - simply bring your attention to everyday activities etc. e.g. Walk about, stretch, have a cuppa and so on! I think he said one of the best things to do is to have snack for example.

Hope this helps,

The furthest back I can remember having an OBE type experience is to about just a little more than 3 years of age possibly 4. I had been tucked closely under the covers between my parents and I had woken from sleep or had thought I had done so. At that age the divide between worlds was very fine and had been used to watching dreamscapes shimmer before my eyes. It was as if I was in their bed room as I could turn round and see all the features of that space and at the same time peer out into a panoramic vista! My attention moved back to the bed and I noticed toys and matchbox cars that I had been playing with earlier in the day appear tidily arranged on the bedspread. To childish joy and amazement the cars started to drive over the crest of crumpled blankets apparently all of their own accord and woolen toys ambulate around the room as if in their own play. I remember with crystal clarity calling to my parents ‘look, look, my cars are driving by themselves’ look look’. To my disappointment my parents did not lift an eyelid from the slumber! Needless to say my own attention wavered, the toy play disappeared and my head fell heavy. Subsequent attempts to explain my evening’s fun met on bemused ears. Oh, dear you had a dream... !

125  Energy Body and The Chakras / Welcome to Energy Body and The Chakras / Stopping the NEW on: December 22, 2004, 17:17:46
Hi FreeChile,

Sorry to hear of your plight. I have been using NEW on and off for about 5 years. Before I had I even heard of NEW I had experienced a variety of Kundalini like signs and symptoms including: powerful energy spikes, Satori like experiences, very strong chakra activation etc. So can appreciate in part how kundalini type experience can be mind blowing and can throw one into a psychological whirlwind.

At the time I had considered professional medical help, but following what could only be described as abusive treatment a number of years ago by the medical profession of a close relative: I decided to weather the storm without their mind and body destroying witch’s brews. Luckily I had an abundance of support of close friends. Also I found new friends who understood what I was going through and were able to offer additional council and guidance whilst I was undergoing a manifold increase psychic ability, awareness etc.

Personally I have not seen any cases of premature kundalini awakening following NEW practice, and Robert Bruce spells out quite clearly guidelines for the NEW system in his literature including in depth information on cautions. Part of this is to discontinue NEW practice until any apparent side effects subside and to make a point of focusing and grounding oneself on every day life etc!

From what I have read and from personal experience: kundalini will occur when it is meant to occur regardless of practices etc. This might be an arguable point, but it does seem to be the case!

More importantly you appear to need some support regarding your experiences and you could not have come to a better place.  Regardless of my personal comments above: the medical profession can help within the constraints or scope of their ability and knowledge. However desperately few of them have a working appreciation of parapsychology, and are often ill equipped to be able to deal with people undergoing spiritual awakening and associated physiological change!

Perhaps someone here might be able to refer you to an understanding psychologist or psychiatrist, but there are people here who have an appreciation of this and may be able to offer suitable counselling for you or at least point you in a safe direction.

I very much empathise with your difficulties and offer heart felt best wishes for you.

Hope this helps in part,

Stephen
