Hillerman's works are good... some are'nt as strong as others, but they all stand up well and are very readable.

It seems like I have heard about this. Are Skinwalkers suppose to be shapeshifters that go around killing people? If I am not mistaken the Navajo are one of the few Native American tribes that view shapeshifting as a negative thing.
Alice had got so much into the way of expecting nothing but out-of-the-way things to happen, that it seemed quite dull and stupid for life to go on in the common way.

There are several websites that I came across regarding "skinwalkers" in the Navajo culture. I certainly know very little of the culture at this point but will read and learn more.

Also, I have included the link to the PBS television website. It has a lot of information on the Navajo and on the film.

There was a film on public television over the weekend called "Skinwalkers" based on a novel by Tony Hillerman. The film was ably directed and had a Native-American cast. It was a mystery with the principal characters being a Lt. Joe Leaphorn and Officer Jim Chee of the Navajo Nation police. The film was very well done and after I saw it I ordered the book to read.

Has anyone else read books by this author, and do you have any recommendations? Thanks in advance for any good suggestions. [:)]
