Are we conceited and egotistical because we believe we have more power than than the average person believes they have?
Is it ignorant to believe in all of this?
Is that what you think? You think you are more powerful? :-P
ofcourse not ;p but my now "ex"friend told me this because I refuse to believe what she has to say about things.
If you look down on people as being less than you then it does sound egotistical. Personally I dont though.
Our total selves are all just as powerful as each other. We are all equal. Everyone.

Exactly, that is what I told her. We are all equal, in we all have the abilities I believe in.
I just refuse to believe that this stuff does not exist and that makes me egotistical and concieted
No, according to her, that makes us all egotistical and conceited >.>
I did not mean to post a topic about something no one cares about. I am just angry cause she gets mad at me for being ignorant, when she is ignorant herself.
Why discuss it with a nonbeliever? You will get nowhere.

Well, I'm conceited and egotistical because I just am; however:
I don't think that being able to OBE or have visions or even have precog experiences gives you more power, because I think everyone else has the same capabilities (in general, some have different predispositions than others), so if anyone really commits to try, they can either learn to OBE or LD, or even have other talents.
But now that I've said that I think that when you do have expanded-consciousness experiences you realize that reality is more than meets the eye, and you also realize the interconnectedness and magicality of everything- and this is a great feeling, for as long as it lasts. Those that don't cultivate them miss out on that, but there is no way for me to know that they'll experience them anyway, making all of this speculation practically meaningless.
So, if I'm conceited and egotistical it's because it works for me (psychologically), not because I can OBE.

If you want to "convert" someone of something you believe in, this makes me think that you have codependency issues, and it's interesting that the word "power" was prominent in your first post.
Own your own power, and don't worry about what others think, and you will eventually find yourself surrounded by people who think like you eventually, naturally.
She'll become receptive to these ideas if/when the time is right for her. You've introduced her to the idea. Thats all you can do unless she wants to try it.
Doesnt it take most of us years between first hearing of AP and actually trying it? It must have been almost twenty years with me.

Honestly, that's your first mistake. From that position... what makes you any better than that mega-Christian trying to convert you?
Just let people believe what they want. There's no sense in ruining a perfectly good friendship over something like this. :)
Doesnt the ";p" mean he was joking? Thats how I use it.
Quite possibly... LOL
I missed that entirely. :)

That's very well put :D
I also feel that it's mostly only worth sharing with people who are genuinely interested (which are rare, yet easy to spot and talk to when they come around). And if you're really living your life according to you're principals, you'll naturally begin to attract and affect those who are similar. Don't worry about the rest, they'll come around when it's their time.
