When u project, could you make a Dungeons and Dice game on the astral plane?

Sorry bout that. I meant "Dungeons and Dragons" game

atalanta

Could someone explain this game to me because I have always wanted to play it but I don't know anything about it.

Rakon

Well, D&D is all about imagination, so anything I make in the astral could be labeled with D&D.

Come to think of it, I once had a lucid dream in which I created a scene from the session I had earlier that day.

Atlanta, are you interested in the concept of the game or the rules? Do you want me to send you Player's Handbook by e-mail? It has 19 MB...[xx(]

Player's Handbook is a core rulebook for D&D.

So far so good!

atlanta, D&D is a tabletop roleplaying game, or RPG. It's a game where people pretend to be, or roleplay, a party of adventuring characters, who are on a quest of some sort, or other different sorts of stories. They roll dice to decide specific actions or outcomes, and then they act it out, their actions, and what they're saying, etc. The Dungeon Master, (DM) sets the setting and story, and helps move it along, and also acts like a moderator, making sure people don't break rules and stuff. This specific RPG, D&D, is setup in a medieval fantasy theme. It's one of the most popular I believe, and one of the first that ever came out. I've never actually played it myself, but I've always wanted to. I have played video game versions though, I once found an online website that had some sort of online tool for playing D&D online with people, it was sort of like a chatroom, but it had map and dice tools, I wish I could remember the website! I've also played the traditional PC and console RPG's, but they arent really like tabletop RPGs, though they do share some similiar qualities, but they're too0 linear when compared to the real thing. The closest video game version I ever came to, was an online Text MMORPG MUD, called ShadowGate AD&D I think. Another one was an online video game MMORPG, called Ultima Online, but it's still very different. There's no actual DM's in UO, except for a few that are available on request, or sometimes they make a suprise visit. That was several years ago, don't know if it's different now though.

D&D is a brilliant way to expand ur imagination and have alot of fun while playing, iv been playing for roughly 7 years and its still just as exciting as the first i played it..i think cause there are no boundaries and total unlinearness of it makes it so

I used to play.  I am always a DM though.  I got to be a player once in a game of War Hammer 3000 or some thing.  But my outside the box thinking ended the game really quick.  Okay you storm a building, meet your objectives, and then need to leave.  In my opinion only a moron would get into an elevator knowing the extreme probability of guards and such waiting for you at the bottom.  So I talked every one into going down the stares.  The DM tried to redirect his trap but a stairwell is an easy thing to defend.  I wasn't allowed to give any more advise.

I still have most of the notes to my master game though.  Typical D&D game but I started and work on it for about 2 years.  Never got to play it though.  I have a book about the world I created running around in side my brain some place.  I just can't seem to get it on to paper though.  The book idea started while I was writing the local history.  I even went as far as to create a two religions and a new sub character class of clerics only found in that area.  I typically draw all my own maps, including land, dungeons, castles, cities, and so on.

I really like D&D.

I can remember playing a few times quite a few years ago.  I also used to play a similar game with a few friends which my friends created called Galaxy Master.  It used many of the same concepts as D&D, including a "GM".  I only played as GM a few times.  I can remember it being quite enjoyable and mind expanding.

There's a free game called Angband which I found on the internet and has the same idea as D&D, but I think you can only play as one character at a time.

I played D&D back when I first started college (10 years ago) but haven't played in a long time...

D&D! Nice game i stoped playing at 1-2 years ago or so.

When i play with my cousin, generaly i am the DM, but with other group of friends i am a player.

I love mages not because of the typical spells (fireball, etc, etc) but for other spells that are very funny to play. For example, one day my character went to buy a horse but the merchant was selling it at an high price. So, my mage went out and awaited fot the merchant to get back in his home. After that i played an enchanted mouth in the head of a monster that i hunted and put it in the the door of the guy. When he came out the head spoke something like "Dont be silly, make a good price on the horse for the mage or u will be doomed!" lol, the guy got scared and he made me a good price.

I love that kind of spells because the game will get different and much more funny.

When u play as a dm is amazing to see how players can change the world. One day (i was DM) my cousin character spoke with a demon about the location of the small island where he (the character) was living (there was a small town in that island). He gave the coordinates of the island to the demon "Oh i live in the place xyz, etc" and tought that such action wouldnt be bad (he barely knew that the demon was seeking a secret on that island eheh).

When later on, the character of my cousin came back home (the island) he saw everything destroyed (demons atacked the island). His action was stupid! Never tell a demon where u live :) ehehe

Answering to your questions:

Are you usually the DM or a player?
both
What's your favorite class?
mage
What's your favorite race?
humans and maybe dwarfs (they are funny to play)

Have you been in any interesting situations? Please, share!
read above but i have more to tell, just dont have time now

What's your campaign about?
when i was a player it was a typical story about evil vs good, about dark forces, orbs, etc, but it was a very solid and consistent story. Very nice campaign

When i was the DM my campaign was free: there was lots of groups interacting with each others and the players could do whatver they want and follow their own purposes. For example: there was a group of Rebels trying to make magic free for everyone (in my orld magic is restricted and not everybody can use it because in the past the world was near being destructed). The view of the rebels was that magic should be free so everybody could use it in daily life for getting a better life. But the Order of the Mages had a different tought: free magic would result in "terrorists" using it for bad use and for kings using it wildly in wars (and so bringing destruction again).

So, this Order of the Mages controls the magic in the world. Also, there was another organization: Magic Hunters: a group of guys wishing o give an end to all magic in the world....and so on. And then there was the Druids, and then the X, and Z, etc with lots of interactions. Players could choose what they want and modify the "agenda" of events in the world. I love this free form of play.

How long have you been playing?
Maybe 7 years, but during that time i would play only often.
I love you!

RenaissanceMan

Anyone here play Oblivion (the computer game)?  It's one hell of a game.

Kazbadan

Yes! I am playing it now! I dont play computer games a lot (only from times to times) but this one catched my attention.

What do u play?

I am a Redguard with a custom class (like an warrior almost) and i am at level 22 and almost in the beggining of the main quest lol! and u?
I love you!

RenaissanceMan

I also play a custom class - sort of a mage with some combat skills.  Also level 22!  I haven't started the main quest yet - still making my way through the mage quests at the Arcane University.

How did you find the Face Generator?  I have spent hours playing around with it, trying to get the face to look the way I wanted!

cainam_nazier

Is that the new Marrowind Game?  Cause I still play Morrowind.

RenaissanceMan

Yes, it's the latest chapter in the Elder Scrolls.
It's bigger and a lot prettier.

Kazbadan

Face Generator? whats that? btw, is there any constructions set like in morrowind?

Cainan, this game is so much better than morrowind! Playing with a fighter now is much more funny, the action is more realistic.
I love you!

RenaissanceMan

The Face Generator - when you start a new character and choose his/her race there's an option for modifying the character's face (eg. distance between their eyes, size of the lips etc).  You can make them as ugly or as pretty as you like.  Making them ugly is much easier of course.

There's supposed to be a construction set.  I haven't looked.

cainam_nazier

I will have to give this one a run since I liked Morrowind so much.
