Firstly, anyone in the central east coast US region, i hope you're ok.

Secondly, I felt my first earthquake today!  it was awesome.  it was apparently a 5.8 and the epicenter was about 40 miles from where I was in Central VA (it was between Charlottesville and Richmond, I am now in Northern VA).

I was in my work truck at a drive-thru and all of a sudden the truck started rocking really hard and then I realized the cars around me were rocking as well.  Apparently it wasn't as exciting for the people back at my work.  They said stuff fell off the walls and the whole building shook.

Anyway, I thought it was cool.  To feel the sheer power that the earth is capable of producing. Awesomeness.  Again, I hope everyone in the east is ok and no one got hurt!

be awesome.

I'm a little further north, in PA.

A lot of people said they felt it, but it was just kind of a slow waving effect. I actually slept right through it.

That wasn't the earthquake!  You had the VIBRATIONS DUDE!  :D

There were people here in GA (actually just 10 minutes away from me) that reported feeling it, but I call BS. I talked to one of my friends in Virginia last night and he was at his job outside a shopping center when it happened and he didn't know what was going on, like demolition or something, but afterwards he saw people acting normal like nothing happened so he just shrugged it off. He found out a couple hours later what it was.

Off topic but, heard of that hurricane heading towards New York?
On topic, glad those who were in the earthquake are okay.

That is cool PR, did not know you were so close; I am moving to Charlottesville soon. We should have a few brews... or a few tastes, or licks, or whatever the kids are doing these days.

Yeah, I am in Hampton, Virginia, and it looks like it will hit somewhere between northern North Carolina (lol) and Philadelphia. Hampton is halfway between, right on the beach, and will catch the eye regardless of where it hits... they are talking about 10- foot tidal-waves for miles inland, and 140 MPH winds; looks like we are slated for destruction. The above move I mentioned could not come too soon, lol; the move may end up being be my evacuation plan. Shiva has come to my door at last.

Same thing happened to me.  Right when it happened a helicopter flew overhead really low, so i figured it was just downdraft from the chopper that made the cars move.  Then I thought it might have been demolition because there is a quarry right near where I was.  When I got up to the drive through window, nobody inside was freaking out, they were acting totally normal, so I didn't think anything of it.  It wasn't until I got back to my office and the receptionist was freaking out, "OMG RUSTY!! DID YOU FEEL IT!!??  EARTHQUAKE!!".  Then I realized what happened.

But it was still pretty rough in my truck.  It felt like I was in a boat at sea in choppy water, for anyone who has been in a boat in choppy water before, you know what I mean.  Only I was on solid land.  It was a strange feeling.
be awesome.
