I just realized that I live 10 miles from The Monroe Institute

What a strange coincidence that is... it feels like fate, haha... as though I am intended to visit...

I definitely feel I should drop by there soon and interact in some way.

As I have felt often these years, I don't know what to make of it.

Has anyone here been before?

Cool, I would drop by if I were you. I'd take a course if I could afford it.

Rudolph

I would stop by for a tour but I would not take one of their overpriced courses.

I am on their mailing list and nothing they say makes me think they are on the cutting edge anymore. They have gone very commercial lately and I am underwhelmed by the new programs coming out.

Honestly, Stookie... I think you're further along than anything they could teach you.  :)

I'm with Rudy... it seems like an awesome place to visit, but I wouldn't wanna pay to be there.  ^_~

Stillwater

Yeah, they seemed WAY out there in price, haha, I would never pay to take a course- I am sure I learned everything they would teach anyhow in about 6 months on my own.

And I agree that they probably have not done much after developing hemi-sync, etc.

I think it is mostly for the sake that they are one of the very few enduring locations dedicated to the practice and study of projection that interests me; they feel like "peers" somehow in that regard. But yeah... who knows

Might I suggest taking some sort of free tour. I would think the place would be quite loaded with "vibes" Maybe that in itself would be of some benefit. And you'd still weigh the same at the end.
Pedant. Pedagogue. Prick.

I always thought if I had the money to blow I'd go to check out a course. I've always wanted to do a group thing, and it sounds like they have really nice facilities. I think it would be more to be around "peers" too, but then again, whenever I think I've found a group of people I have something in common with, it turns out we have very little in common. I'd hate to spend a couple grand just to get bummed. That's why it would have to be with money I could burn, and I've yet to come into that situation. It's all hypothetical I guess.

Boom

Personally I'd quite like to take an active course in meditation and astral projection.  I wonder if there are more places that do this, other than the Monroe Institute?

Stillwater

I wouldn't pay for a course in meditation- it is sort of one of those things you learn by doing it enough, as long as you have read enough to get the basics, like posture and breathing, and work through the issues that slowly arise.

I took a weekend course there (combined it with family vacation) and even though it's true that most of you are more advanced that what they can 'make' you, the experience of being in a controlled environment with every minute planned, and just being there was awesome.  If I ever win the lottery (or something like that) I definitely plan to take a week course there- it's one of the things on my list.

Yeah, that's what I want to experience. Or even a floatation tank. But before anyone says anything, I'm not making my own or paying ridiculous amounts to be in one.

Rudolph

Yeah. Back in the early '80s the flotation tank was a fad and I got a special deal for a 30 minute float. Pretty cool, for sure. A sort of 3D blackness is what I got quickly into. But the 30 minute teaser just wasn't long enough for me.

This sounded like a good question to me and I did a search;

For about $430 you get a weekend intensive OBE workout. That seems pretty reasonable considering it looks like a very nice building they are renting.
I could not find any in the USA but I know they are out there.
