Commercialisation!!

Hey guys!! I have come to understand most of the information given in this site , but what is still fueling my skepticism is why is their so much of commercialization??Most products i have come across regarding spiritual development are advertised repeatedly.....just the same as products by some profit making private company trying to run a biz!!
  My point is....if this is a benevolent gesture in order to improve the lives of all human beings...y should it come with a price tag?? Well..take the documentary THE SECRET for example, well i agree they have to make the money they spent making the video!!....but what is raising my eyebrows is the fact that they are charging 5$ per view,and there r so many of us browsing the net these day...the numbers could be in millions...and if each of us are willing to spend this very little amount ,the ppl who made this video would be millionaires in no time......and the video could be just another crap to feed you with likable and believable insights ...and ppl tend to believe nice and likable things..!!....and the same thing implies to all the other products being sold !!....so the commercialization is definitely reducing the authenticity of these kind of products and services....making it even more dubious !!..a lot of ppl i know..think of all this to be a scam!!....anyway i hope u guys have understood my problem here....

dont like it dont buy it, its the beauty of a free market.   Besides, 95% of these spiritual items are just rip offs anyway and anyone who knows anything about real spirituality knows to stay away.  Case in point "Magic potions".  There are tons of magical potions/scrolls/dolls etc on the net that are just plain rip offs.  You send them $29.95 for a love potion they dye some water red and put it into a 30 cent vial and ship it to you.  Get over it, its how everything in this world works, there is always someone looking to gain from your stupidity or dire need or what have you.

yeah ive seen a lot of stuff like that which say they have "secret mantras to improve and balance the spirit" for a price of £40 or whatever which really annoy me..
google "wistancia" and she promises the same thing, she talks a lot about the world and how its on the brink of spiritual revolution etc.. and how she can help you as long as you send her money..

i emailed her and she told me she's only making a living, but she also says the "helpful advice" shes charging us for was channeled through to her by the friendly spirits, so i wonder if those friendly spirits would charge her?
if anyone believes that money is more important than genuinly relevant stuff for us to know then dont bother with em.

Even the Dali Lama has to sell his books.  If you want distribution, you have to charge a price. Unfortunately, it creates a market for all kinds of charlatains.

I can understand the complaint however I also understand supply and demand.  As was mentioned with production, shipping, advertising, and the like, it all has to be paid for some how.  But then you also complain about services that "could" be free.  I that they could be free because yes there is no overhead and such.  However if these people really do have a gift then they often get hammered by requests and people seeking help.  Look at Sylvia Brown.  She is often considered the best at what she does.  A great many people know this.  And in order to limit the field a little on how many people contact her she has to charge money.  If she didn't she could spend 24/7 with people trying to help them and never have any time to herself.  And even with the amount of money she charges there are people lined up at her door.

It's all just supply and demand.  The more demand and the lower the supply the higher the price.

so what if they make millions, do you have a problem with
people having abundance? Do you expect someone that
puts this information out into the world to have nothing in return?
The information shows you how to make abundance in your own life,
so everyone wins. There is nothing to be suspicious of.

anyway...i guess there might be some genuine and some crappy info out there in the net.....n we have to use our discrimination to choose the right ones..
Anyway i saw The Secret...it sounds very interesting and good....i agree with the fact that positive thinking affects ur performance,ur confidence,ur moods n stuff.....but that is in a psychological level!!....n do u guys believe it is actually possible to manifest what u think ....do u have any experiences with it??

I definately believe that thoughts can manifest into reality, but not necessarily as expected. In my life it tends to bring out a situation that provides the opportunity to get what I wanted. But hard work almost always comes with it. I don't think it's like "free money". If I really want it, it's worth the work.

I can understand your point, but it doesn't make it a fact for all things spiritual that people would like you to know about. But yeah, it is pretty lame for people to sell you pretty simple spiritual things overpriced. And although I've always had a view of giving things spiritual such as advice or pamplets or books even altruistically (and not to monetary gain), apparently some do indeed try to make a living.

I can't find it now, but I found a site that sells the same thing, basically a nice  crystal glued to the end of a polished stick with some ornamental beads on it for U$30,000  ! ! !    

Claiming that the crystal sticks have real magic powers.    

Imagine taking orders for for these things at 30K a pop. Maybe I would feel good about myself and say "stupid people with too much money need to be separated from their assets"
