Hey, im new to this and am learning slowly, but unfortunately havent got very far with it, but im getting better, i'd just like to know about the "entity" that people see and am wondering how long the episode will last. It's really taken my intrest but from reading i assume one way to get over it is to confront it? I used to suffer sleep paralysis as a child and it always followed waking from the same dream, but i didnt see or hear anything which is what is rumoured, however i did feel short of breath as if someone was smothering me for a few seconds, before falling back to sleep. Thanks

You don't always feel the presence. It's only a hallucination anyway, and can take on different forms each time. It's not a separate entity. I've never experienced the smothering effect, but I have felt weight on my chest. If I see anything during sleep paralysis, it's usually the inside of my room with some dark negative energy cloud near my feet. Trying to move towards it induces an out of body experience, and that requires you to confront it.

The SP episodes are extremely varied in how they present to you, but for myself, the only way could get past it was to become fed up and confront whatever it was that was pestering me.  This freed me from much of the fear of the episode- hallucination or not. For that story, it is in my blog in the earlier entries- check it out in my sig line.
