Heart flutters when looking into 2D darkness.

BOATS

I have a problem that most times when I lie on my back and look into the 2D darkness I become very conscious of my heart.  More then just a consciousness really as my heart really starts to slow down.  This always occurs directly as I attempt to look into the darkness.  There is a definite Thut Thut Thut pulsing as if my heart is going to skip a beat.  It is really annoying and disrupts my concentration.  If I take my field of vision off the 2D darkness the fluttering will stop but I want to keep my field of vision there.  I do not have heart problems and in excellent health.  I recently was hooked up to an EKG machine and the technician told me to relax.  So I thought that would be the perfect time to simply meditate.  The tech told me after about thirty seconds of monitoring to not go to sleep, as it appeared I was actually altering my heartbeat unintentionally.  We had to restart the test so I know this is not just in my mind.  Some people would probably say that my third eye charka is connected to my heart charka.  I am sure I am not the only one to experience this effect and was wondering if anyone has a cure.  I have noticed that I can sometimes ease the effect if I cross my hands across my chest.  If not I guess just practice and time will be the cure.

Do you sometimes feel that your heart actually does skip a beat or "flutter"? I've had that feeling a number of times of the years. It feels just like a fluttering or like your heart literally skips a beat or two and is quite unsettling untill you realize what's happening. I'm not in the medical field at all, so definately don't take my word that this is what's happening to you.

But for me, I found out that what I was feeling wasn't my heart, but my heart chakra suddenly 'kicking' in so to speak. Mine wouldn't happen when I meditate or anything though, it would happen during the day when I was doing various things. And during those years, I had never heard of a chakra or anything. But I can now isolate the two somewhat, so its easier for me to tell the difference.

As for unintentionally changing your heart beat -- oh yeah! Whenever the doctor straps the 'thing' on to take my blood pressure, I find myself automatically lowering my heart rate. For years I never realized what I was doing -- and my husband (who is in the medical profession) always got freaked out with my results -- very low blood pressure. But for me, I was simply trying to relax, not slow down my heart. After many years of noticing what I was doing, I can now not do it, but I need to consciously control how relaxed I get. If I'm not conscious of what I'm doing at the time, my heart will naturally slow down every time.

So no, you are not alone in this.
Reality is what you perceive it to be.

Normally for me to have this happen in waking day life is rare.  It always does alarm me quite a bit when it does happen thow.  I get the flutter feeling and feel I need to cough to set the pace right again.  It is as if It can flutter more often unintentionally during meditation.  It does not seem to happen if I lie on my side but only my back.  Problem is I need to be on my back for the best chance for an AP in my experience.  I do not feel it is the heart chakra however as I have felt those vibrations.  This makes me want to jump up.  It's funny to be able to control something like the pace of your heart.  I have noticed I can control my blood pressure some what also.

Cure? It's a blessing. If you could slow down your heart and breath enough, you'd float right out of your body. Saturate your body with energy, and the process becomes easier, because your physical system then becomes less demanding, enabling a natural shift in consciousness.
I take it you haven't really looked into yoga?
This is the kind of thing I'm working on now.

If you are positive it isn't the chakra then I would definately get yourself checked out. I ask if you are positive, because they are so close that it really does feel like the heart when it happens. ANd I do know the feeling of trying to 'regulate' it yourself when you feel it.

When I had first read about chakras and their associated sensations, this was one of the 'side effects' of the heart, or so I have read. I can feel the other chakras as well as the heart. The energy and sensations that I sense in those areas during meditation or yogo are different from the fluttering.

Again, I'm not an expert in this or anything, so I'm simply explaining what I've determined I am experiencing. And the fluttering appears to happen unintentionally as the chakra is becoming more active on its own, if that makes sense. As opposed to me consciously focusing on it or trying to direct energy to it or anything like that during meditative moments. So my suggestion would first be to see a doctor and make sure there isn't anything wrong with your physical heart. If that seems to be 'in working order', then I'm not sure what else it would be except energy fluctuations in your heart chakra.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

Thanks Novice for replying.  I have had 2 EKG's, Stress test, and seen two cardiologists.  I did not see these doctors related to this heart sensation however but for other reasons. I have blood pressure 117/72 and have good cholesterol level.  I also run seven miles a day.  So my heart is in good condition.  I will entertain the thought that perhaps it could possible be the heart chakra.  If it is from energy then this is just another amazing discovery related to AP attempts.

Nostic, I have noticed that if I do continue to lie on my back after this occurs that as I continue to meditate and look into the 2D blackness I will begin to fall asleep and get the sensation that I am falling as I enter sleep and jump up.  So perhaps this is energy rising.  I will say one thing that on days when this occurs I will have very vivid dreams one after the other.  As many as 15 in a five or six hour period.
