Welcome!

First off-  You should practice meditation.  This is the most effective way to AP.  Also start where you want to start.  Don't jump into something too quick because you get impatient.

Second-  There is nothing to be fearing in AP.  It is a very safe place to be, no matter what others have told you.  As with all things, rules apply to AP.  Different rules, but rules for sure.  You should not be frightened, it is a calm and relaxed enviroment.  If you do fear something, try to think of something that makes you comfortable.  Say a prayer if it helps :)

Good luck and have fun [:)]

There are a few things I would suggest doing before you project. Definately meditate. I think this is very important and I have projected many times not by actually trying to but only by meditating. Learn to control your thoughts and emotions. Pay attention to them during the day and try to keep them under control. Don't let your mind wonder all over the place during the day. When you notice it doing this bring it back to what you are doing and concentrate on this. It is much easier to learn to control your thoughts and emotions on the physical than have to deal with it on the astral when it can really be in your face and overwhelming. Also at night when you are going to sleep, try to stay conscious as long as you can. Don't try to stay awake, just try to stay conscious as you fall asleep and notice how it feels to go to sleep. Start practicing Robert Bruce's NEW enegy development system.

well not only meditating will help you gain chances of AP, but sometimes its possible to AP while meditating! very cool. but just relax and dont be scared. being scared will get you nowhere. i suggest mediatating and everytime before you goto bed just tell yourself (i will have a lucid dream) repeat this every five minutes until it gets stuck in your head. this action helps alot for me.

Then I ask you this; what meditation posture do advice? Perhaps the old fashion lotus-position (padmasana) or just lying down lying down (shavasana)?

wizzle I was wondering if it is maybe a better idea to learn how to get Lucid Dreams alot before Astral Projection.

No. It wont hurt you to try to astral project if you cant do some of the related things, but it will be harder.

hi im brand new with everything and i decide ill go with AP anyway i know what meditation is but how do you do it. i just thought it was sitting for hours but i know  it is more than that so can someone tell me how to meditiate?

I think the best thing you could do before trying to astral project is getting your mind to be able to concentrate on 1 thing.

Because the mind is a huge chatterbox, and their are many methods to train your mind like focusing on a candle and then closing your eyes to try to visualize it.

btw how to get lucid dream ???
for ap you need to meditate.. and so on you get vibrations and bla bla :P hehe

but what do you have to do for lucid dream ??
is it like astral projektion.. but  only in your dreams  where you are aware of that it is a dream ?

Everything is simple if you can

jayselect

Lucid dreaming is a form of astral projection. If you become aware in a dream(become lucid) you are in the astral plane.

Learning the NEW system helps, practise is the only other thing you need.

"how do I meditate?"...

this is what I do:

I start by doing a lot of stretches and some basic yoga.this helps to release any tension in the physical body.then I ly down on my bed (you can use a nice comfy chair if you have one,or even one that isn't so comfy[:P]).I elevate my legs slightly, using some pillows,as this helps to alleviate tension in the lower back.then I do all my moving around to find the most comfortable position.then I try to calm the mind and eliminate the incessant internal dialogue.I IGNORE the itches that start to happen all over-unless they are caused by something on the skin, causing it to itch, they will just dissapear, although this takes a bit of practice.after that,I FOCUS INWARD,as much as a pin-point as i can get it.it helps to ELIMINATE ANY DISTRACTIONS-such as phones ringing,tv in another room, talking in another room.for this I put a small fan on (the whooshis absolutely hypnotic, and masks unwanted sounds),and I use earplugs as well.as I continue to focus my conciousness as deep as possible, visualizing my awareness and life-force as a point of light-like a bright star deep within,I start to lose awareness of the outside world.I then sustain this focus for as long as possible.

I also like to use a HEMI-SYNC cd called "transcendence".it really helps to alter the brain waves much quicker than usual, and the hummm helps to eliminate distractions.if I put it on loud enough,it won't send me to sleep after a certain point, but will HOLD ME AT THE BORDERLINE STATE between sleep and waking.

sometimes,as a way to focus the mind and raise some energy,I visualise and feel pure blinding light being raised from the feet to the head, filling the body with light and energy.

doing these types of meditation help to:
1-remember dreams much more vividly
2-become lucid while in a dream,or just as pure awareness in the sleeping body (in this case,I use it to project-just walk,or float away![:)])
3-be in a more peaceful, yet focused state of mind during the day
4-replenish energy.
The musical conciousness is mind beneath the sun.

my girlfriend came up with a nice simple meditation/concentration idea. i'm sure it's been done before, but it's still an interesting exercise.

all you need to do is find a comfortable meditation position, close your eyes, and silently count backwards from 1000 without getting distracted.

sounds simple, right?

she's been meditating regularly for over a year and her best ever effort has been down to the 300s. i've only started meditating again as of a month or two ago, and i'm lucky to make it down past 900 before my mind wanders Insert

it's a nice way to work on concentration/focus, and it really drives home just how incessant and hard to switch off your internal crapologue is. perseverance and dedication will get you there in the end [;)]

what sort of energy work is a good idea to do? i have tried to open my third eye and chakras and failed both times. is there a good way to do it?

I was wondering if it is maybe a better idea to learn how to get Lucid Dreams alot before Astral Projection. Maybe meditating or something, but i'm not sure. I want to practice projecting but i get scared for no reason, and i read that you shouldn't try projecting if your scared. Besides that, i was wondering if i should learn to meditate or get many Lucid Dreams before being able to project, or just to get closer to it.
