Troubleshooting My Failure to Project

Something I find odd in my failure to achieve a conscious exit is my seeming ability to visualize in almost perfect clarity for 20 minutes or more. I can reach a deep level of physical relaxation, have done pretty extensive energy work for a few months and I haven't really come too close to projecting. I've read Astral Dynamics and Mastering Astral Projection and highlighted the ever-living crap out of those books, but I still can't nail down what I might be doing wrong to prevent success. Even after 45 minutes of relaxing, raising and stimulating energy, and holding my awareness outside of my body, there is still no indication that I am close to getting out. Any ideas on what I might look at in terms of troubleshooting.

Maybe you're just trying too hard, honestly. Relax.

If I were to give in, would you think me weak?

I agree, I believe you might be trying too hard. Do you let your mind silent itself, and drift into a near sleep state?
That in which you have doubts cannot be accomplished. That in which you have no doubts can be accomplished.

What time of the day are you trying to project?

Dear S7.

I ve been trying for less than 4 months to AP. I never knew what AP was till then.  In that period I had 5 APs, mostly less than a minute or two long. I practise every day awareness and concentration and try to AP everynight . I tried many techs till I find one that works on me.

You must be trying too hard or too wrong.
Most ppl when trying to AP they either fall asleep or cant sleep at all.
If you re falling asleep it means you need more awareness exercises. You must be focused, concentrated and clear minded.
If you cant sleep and you just keep laying there feeling of nothing it means you need more concentration exercises and another tech.
Relaxation and energy work are very helpful but the key element is concentration and awareness. You must watch yourself fall physically asleep without your conciousness doing the same and to do that you must be able to stay concentrated without internally chating.
That takes practise. AP is not  a 30 minute try every night attempt.
You must be aware allday. That will gradually make you wake up in dreams. You must ask your self all the time if you re awake or asleep and make reality tests. You must also take 15 minutes exercises where you will observe an object and then close your eyes and try to remember it without internally chating.

Usually we either chat internaly and cant sleep or we quit chating and fall asleep. But the term "sleep" is incorectly used for AP. We dont want to sleep, we want to AP. When the conciousness leaves to the astral the physicall body awaits in a state that we call "sleep". WE are the conciousness, thus we dont sleep,  we just change place of existance.

Hi there S7,

QuoteI can reach a deep level of physical relaxation

this needs to be very deep, on the borderline of sleep, if you are to acheive conciously induced OBE. You need to be feeling so relaxed that you can barely sense your physical body.

At this point, your visualization skills should help you out. This is the point where you need to turn your thoughts inward, away from physical distractions e.g. an itch in your leg, the sensations of blood rushing through your veins.

This is the point where you need to turn your focus completely away from the physical world. I have only been able to acheive it conciously on a few occasions; I can best describe it, as letting your mind wander, with a sense of purpose. There is a sense of relaxation, not a sense of applied effort.

Furthermore, your visualisation shouldn't be too detailed. Make sure you are making use of your other senses, taste, touch, etc. "Feel" that you are in a non-physical environment.

One last thing - you need to believe, on a very deep level, that the above is possible.

Don't be discouraged by what you see as a lack of success. Relax, take your time, & enjoy.

Kind regards,
Mark
