Title: Where can I find good Articles/Resources re Meditation?
Post by: AffirmationStation on April 21, 2008, 11:15:23
I am new to this forum, my name is Johnny and I'm a musician/producer.

I recently launched an affirmation based website. Part of the site sells music for meditation/relaxation. Can any of you guys direct me to any resources/articles/sites with (great) information about meditation that I can then direct the people hitting my site to?

Also, if there are any stand-out books or any other reference materials you know about, I would love to hear about them  :-)

Thank you!

Johnny

Hi there AffirmationStation
I know a few sites that helped me when I was starting on my spiritual journey and I will List them below:
www.wisdomsdoor.com (http://www.wisdomsdoor.com)
www.crystalinks.com (http://www.crystalinks.com)
http://www.kryon.com/k_25.html (http://www.kryon.com/k_25.html)
http://www.spiritofmaat.com/archive/maglist.htm (http://www.spiritofmaat.com/archive/maglist.htm)
http://www.lazaris.com/publibrary/ (http://www.lazaris.com/publibrary/)

There are two books that I highly recommend:
The Emerald Tablets of Thoth - http://www.crystalinks.com/emerald.html (http://www.crystalinks.com/emerald.html) and
Ra: The Law of One - http://www.divinecosmos.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=category&sectionid=6&id=23&Itemid=36 (http://www.divinecosmos.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=category&sectionid=6&id=23&Itemid=36)

I hope this helps. :-D

It's one of the clearest introductory texts on the practice of meditation.

Hi Johnny,
My site offers some simple meditation practices for beginners and advanced without all the belief-system attachments you find most everywhere else.

www.simply-spirit.com (http://www.simply-spirit.com)

There are so many books available today... a good one for beginners is "Celestine Prophecy", a rollicking adventure story that provides some good, basic concepts for those starting out on their path to practice.

Another is "Way of the Peaceful Warrior". A true story with excellent messages and concepts for everyone.

If I can offer advice here, it would be to try and keep things simple for the people you want to attract, otherwise they may go down the same paths as many others and get lost in the complexity and semantics.

hope this helps.

Hi Johnny,

a book I recommend to everyone who is interested in starting meditation is:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Teach-Yourself-Meditate-Exercises-Clarity/dp/0749913282

This book could possibly teach 'seasoned' practitioners a thing or two too.
The book itself gets to the core of what meditation is, and what it isn't. It completely decouples it from belief systems and practices. A problem with meditation advice on the net (and in most books) is that it's usually deeply influenced by one belief system or another - so the techniques of meditation get lost or irrevocably joined to the belief system itself. Ones first experience of meditation colours the practice for life - which is why I recommend the above book. Once people get to grips with meditation itself, they can then go explore all the other forms and linked belief systems.
