Have any of you ever been astral traveling for what seemed like a year and wake up to realize that it was only about an hour? this example is a little on the extreme side but have any of you experienced any kind of distortion of time or lapse or something like that? and how long did it seem to last?

There is a time distortion, more related to the Astral than the Etheric... but it's there.
However, I've never heard of someone experiencing THAT much of a distortion.
We're usually talking minutes or hours, not years.  :)

Perhaps this piece is interesting to read, although it is not in a OBE I think but it is about a time lapse.
It starts in Chapter 2, page 11/12. I read the whole book which I thought was a good read.  :-)

Hi Sauce
This does happen to me occasionally in dreams. Once I had a dream that seemed to last 2 or 3 years yet of course it could have been no more than 1 or 2 hours long.
Many people do report time distortions during OBEs and Especially during NDEs. Many people who go out of body during a near death experience report that they go to another location (usually a focus 27 reception center type place for the newly dead). They remain there for a VERY long time (sometimes it seems to them to be weeks or months) and then return to their physical bodies only to find that only a few minutes or hours have actually gone by.

I don't think this should really be that surprising. Time is relative only in physical terms. In my experiences, time and space (meaning distance) have no real meaning in the non-physical.
Reality is what you perceive it to be.
