This experience is purely to clarify how important it is to write things down AS SOON AS YOU REMEMBER THEM!!
Damn, I can't believe I did this...
Two nights ago, I was staying in a hotel in a city centre. I'd gone to sleep about midnight. As it was a Saturday, I was interrupted intermittently throughout the night by other hotel guests coming in late and being noisy. Whilst this was annoying, it meant that I kept waking up. And we all know that isn't such a bad thing if one wants to project.
So at some point in the early hours of the morning, I simply lay on my back and closed my eyes, awaiting the next door to slam (!) whilst I drifted in a haze of sleepiness and relaxation.
At some point I realised I was swinging forwards and backwards. Great sensation. I mentally pushed it to go higher and higher and then on a forward swing, I jumped out of my body. Just like you would on a swing.
I landed at the end of bed, on my feet. Without going into too much detail, I had about 5 of these 'swinging' experiences. During one of them, I walked through the hotel wall and found myself somewhere completely different. I was talking to a man and I understood (due to a Monroe Rote) that he was a German POW in England.
I actually had enough lucidity to say the following:
"What is your name, so I can search for you on the Internet tomorrow and verify it."
He told me that he personally wasn't able to tell me his name, but his friends would. We walked over to four or five people and he said to one of his friends:
"Ferdinand - this woman would like to know my name".
Ferdinand then proceeded to tell me his name. It was very unusual and rather memorable.
And I became fully conscious at this point. Noted his name, and went back "down".
In the morning - could I remember his name? Of course not.

What a great experience Sarah! Maybe the name will come to you later when you're not trying to remember it. Wouldn't it be cool if it turned out to be an actual POW!
Not to mention spooky!
