Obe -> Dream

Last evening I had a dual obe. Felt kinda sleep deprived, so went to sleep 19-00 hrs as soon as I got the opportunity for it. Now it happens that when I want to sleep badly, I become ultra sensitive to sounds and even a pin drop feels like a huge distraction. So I put on my mouldable ear-plugs.

It must have been only 2-3 min, and I was already deep, and thanks to the earplugs, all the internal sounds were loud and crisp. I heard the usual 'bang' twice [those who know it will understand], it sounded like a metal sheet tearing apart...  :D .

Well that was too loud a separation to manage, so I got back with a jerk, full awake. Then again drifted off to sleep. Somehow after some time, I was semiconscious and I felt myself loose in my body. I got hold of my state and started rocking slowly, and increased the amplitude, as it gained momentum like a swing and quickly was out.

I felt the bed and the chair as I moved away from my bed. I gained some visuals when I neared window. It was night with all my neighboring buildings lit up with lights. So far so good, but as soon as I was out of the window I started floating like a feather, or felt so. The environment changed to something else. It quickly faded to some dream about me trying to go some place.

The second obe came without any attempt. Just rolled out from the other side of the bed (just for a change ;) ), when I found myself loose again. This one also became a boring dream. I woke up and had my dinner and went to bed again. The dreams that followed were crisp and kinda 'novel' compared to the usual subconscious vomit.

What I have seen is that whenever I try to cross something , like a window or a door..... I enter a dreamscape. Where I lose control. Is there anyway to keep the consistency and still move far away from the body?

But next time I'm going to stay in my room and just see what happens. :)

I read in a book called 'Out of Body Exploration'  (by a guy called Preston Dennett) that passing through solid objects such as doors, walls and windows during a lucid dream can change the lucid dream to an OBE. I guess it can work in reverse huh? When you fell into the dream state were you still lucid or did you just become wrapped up in the 'scenario' like in a regular dream?

I would suggest that next time this happens to you, if you are still lucid when you slip into a dream there are a number of things you could try:

1) Passing back through another surface (wall, window, door etc.), for the reason stated above.

2)Giving a command like, "I want/need to OBE", "erase/remove all illusion" or even "take me to...(insert your choice or friend/family member here)" or "Take me to see my guides" or something like that.

Of course these suggestions are only do-able if you remain conscious in the first place. Otherwise...

* Avoiding passing through solid objects until you have more control or clarity or thought/consciousness. :)

The thing is, from my own experience and from reading a lot about it, I've learned that being out of body can be like that. Sometimes you will bounce around a little, or find yourself in a completely different place without consciously deciding to go there. If you do find yourself 'slipping' though, try the 'regular stuff' to keep yourself fully alert and conscious; i.e. spin around until your environment/consciousness becomes more stable again, or say something like "I am dreaming! I am dreaming! over and over again. I've found that either (or even both) of these can work incredibly well :D.

*Note: You might be thinking, "Why would I state  that I'm dreaming when I know I'm in fact Out Of Body?" Well, my dear Astral friend, I'm not sure exactly how it works... I think it works in a similar way to when you're actually dreaming and then realise you're dreaming. By emphasizing the fact that you know that you're dreaming, you keep your consciousness 'awake' in a sense, rather than it shutting down and you losing all control over what's going on. I think that's a fairly accurate description...

But do try some of the things I have suggested. I hope they help. Others on this forum will surely have some ideas to share as well.

Keep us posted and let us know how you get on.

Happy traveling!

Abyss,
Those were really good suggestions. In fact I've tried some of them in past, except going again through walls or doors. Which I think may work. Looking at my hands helped me a few times. But my brain usually recognizes the 'trick' I'm playing and 'corrects' it.... :D

I faced a strange problem of getting 'fake' results. That is, it still remains a dream, only that it becomes somewhat clear. But soon I can realize that the situation is same. The obe lasts upto 1-2 mins, so its very difficult to gain control.

QuoteWhen you fell into the dream state were you still lucid or did you just become wrapped up in the 'scenario' like in a regular dream?
I was lucid, I could recite the name of the person I wanted to visit, and was wondering whats going wrong. Too much confusion and I woke up. So it was not a regular dream.

I feel that it has to do with certain conditions in brain. Obe happens when we are crossing through the boundary of normal waking state and sleep. As the obe progresses the brain proceeds towards sleep in usual manner. Which is perceived as gradual loss of lucidity. So I guess I must do something which delays this habitual 'descending into unconsciousness' of the brain.
