Is it because i can't do it? Can everyone do it or only some people do?
How do i get into trance state, any tips? Thanks.

Just sit there for a couple hours and don't think about anything. Then visualize yourself climbing down a rope, moving down in an elevator, or something where you are moving down.

Then when you start to feel a wave of heaviness fill your body, hold that feeling in your mind.

Kurt, for me, It's keeping that feeling for a long time which is challenging.

@ iwannaAP. But don't give up, Keep your eye's on the price and you'll always succeed.

It used to be challenging for me but after practicing for a few years I can now stay in the trance state for about 90 minutes without twitching a muscle or having a thought pop into my head.

The Present Moment

Try progressive relaxation, starting at your toes and moving up to the top of your head, then use the NEW techniques to bring a pleasant feeling warmth and tingling into your body. This is what I do.

Yes, anyone can do it.
You need to learn to relax your body though.
REALLY relax it.  Every muscle.  Head, shoulders, arms, hands, etc... relax all the muscles.

If I had a nickle for every time Xanth said the word relax, I think I would be rich.

Relaxation is important but that is only the first step.

What I do is in the morning after i've had 5 hours of sleep, I wake up, still groggy mind you.  My mind and body are both asleep.  I have a very hard time getting my body relaxed, so it seems easier to wait till my body is already relaxed, and just wake up my mind.  I am a very light sleeper and I never fall asleep meditating.  For me, trance is easier in the morning when I wake up already groggy.  I just sit there and let my body fall back asleep, but wake up my mind by focusing on my intent.

By using trance meditation and yogic breathing techniques ( along with the assistive technology I have been developing ) I am able to stay awake for about 16 - 20 hours a day. Then I need about 6 - 8 hours of sleep. This can make my daily schedule pretty unpredictable!  :-D

I used to be in the same boat as you, but now I actually have the opposite problem to this - I have trouble maintaining focus when I try to project. Providing I have not recently slept, I can usually relax very well and within a short while I begin to see colours and shapes with the odd bright flash (hypnagogic state).

Very often I wake up several hours later with the immediate thought "damn it.. again!?" I used to have a lot of trouble relaxing; the reason I actually got into meditation was to cure my insomnia.

It takes a bit of discipline, but to empty my mind I try to think only of the black emptiness of space. Don't move your body AT ALL, literally lie there and let your whole body fall limp. If you need to concentrate on a body part that seems like it isn't relaxed, breathe in - then tell yourself that when you exhale you will valinquish control of your whole body with that particular area in mind. Make sure you are in a comfortable position because completely relaxing your body may cause you to snore.

Every time a stray thought enters your mind, ignore it.. it may continue on somewhere in the back of your mind but don't pay it any attention. Maintain your focus on the black emptiness in front of you.

I tried this one night.. I laid on the couch all night and tried to get into trance...  all I did was waste 8 hours when I could have been sleeping.  My neck was tight and sore the entire next day, and I was fatigued from the sleep I missed out on.  I stayed awake the whole time, and my body was sore.  I can't relax my body unless I let my thoughts drift and wander... and then, my body relaxes.  I usually have to think of calming thoughts like wish fullfillment and other things that make me feel good, and I have to constantly move my body so my pressure points dont get sore.  It takes me like 2 hours to fall asleep.  Then, after I wake up to take a bathroom break, my body is really relaxed and from there, I can attempt to meditate or go into trance, or Obe or lucid dream or whatever I want to do.

I'm happy you figured out the correct way to do it, but It just doesn't work for me, I have to sleep 5 hours before my body has a chance of being relaxed.

I wouldn't move someone past the first step until they can completely relax themselves, since it really is the most important step.

I'd ask why you're in such a hurry?  You're a very impatient individual, Kurt.  :)
Sometimes one needs to slow down to smell AND enjoy the roses.

kurtykurt42

I'm not always in a hurry I just tend to do things faster than most people. No offense to anyone.  :-D

You should try getting into the trance state during the morning hours on a day you have nothing important to do. Wake up 2 to 3 hours early stay awake for 30mins than sit down relax and you will enter stance state so fast you wont see it coming.
If i could meet god i would ask him why did he make ugly women and stupid people because it just don't seem fair.

Like Xanth, I also suggest relaxing. A lot of people think they are relaxed but aren't truly where they need to be. I've always suggested to get as relaxed as you possibly can... and then relax more. Then double that. Trance is much easier when you go into it completely comfortable and relaxed to the max (without falling asleep of course).

Also, don't overdo it. I have a rule that if I'm not relaxed and in trance within 15 - 30 minutes, it's a no go and should abort. By 30 minutes I have a clear idea if it's going OK. I don't think much good can come out of forcing yourself to stay still and attempt something that's not going to happen, and you'll train yourself to pull off your experiences in an amount of time that won't stress your schedule or sleep cycle.

If I had to wait an hour or more for a conscious experience, I wouldn't be here right now.

Man don't you go to work or school? Or do you do this only on weekends, holidays?? :?

I'm fortunate enough to have a rather wealthy grandfather and he has been helping me financially. As long as I help him with his vegetable garden!

I keep getting a vision of a kid being taunted in school...
... not sure why.

Hmmm... anyways, ignore me.
Continue.  :)

This might be a good situation to try binural beats.  They induce trance within minutes.  Though relying on them will only hurt you in the long run.  But it may help you gain some subjective validation, which could very well be the push you need to do it on your own.

The fastest way I can enter trance is by maintaining consciousness when I'm in bed at night going to sleep.  You can feel the "falling" sensation in your body most of the time and that gives you a point of reference to recreate the feeling when you try to induce trance at other times.
be awesome.
