My first “remembered” experience?

I am a bit perplexed about something I experienced last week when I was sick. At the time I was fighting off a fever. I was lying in bet trying desperately to find a comfortable position. After becoming quite exhausted something strange happened. I started feeling nauseous, almost as if I was sea sick.

I started feeling a sort of slipping or falling sensation underneath me. Considering I was lying flat on my back, there was no way I could be physically going backwards. Sometime during this sensation there was a seamless transition. At first northing seemed out of place.. I think I was either too tired or too distressed to notice, but before long I realized I was no longer in my bedroom.

The first thing that I recall is that fact that I was now standing. It was daylight. It was around 9 or 10 pm in real time when this happened, but during the experience it was clearly mid day, complete with blue sky and white clouds. I remember being able to look around at will. My recollection of the environment is a bit fuzzy, but I could defiantly tell I was outdoors.

Around me I could see large trees every few hundred feet, and below me was a concrete walkway surrounded by grass and rolling hills.(Almost like that Windows XP desktop, lol) My first thought was to move around. This is where things got interesting. My first attempt at walking forward was shot down quickly. Something told me that I needed to clear my path before moving. My knowledge of this seemed to come naturally because I don't remember taking the time to figure it out.

I had with me an object, or rather a set of objects, like a marker. These were really strange. I remember being able to bend over and place one of these on the floor. This "marker" contained of a pattern, one I don't ever recall seeing, but it seemed so familiar. I perceived it to be 2 dimensional, bearing no height, with the length and width of a large pizza box. After these were placed on the ground, I could then walk upon them.

Walking any further in any direction off of them would result in very real and very crippling physical pain in my back. This happened several times. Even during this experience I found it this to be sort of humorous, as if I was playing in some sort of life-sized board game. After recovering from a few wrong steps, I soon began stacking these markers. Don't ask me how it's possible to stack a 2 dimensional object on top of one another... I just did. I became frustrated with my situation, being stranded on a square in a world of pain wasn't the most enjoyable way to spend my time after lying sick in bed for more than 3 days.

It seemed more like I was summoning a pillar out of this flat tile, A few moments later it was towering over my head, reaching far into the sky. In an instant I shot up into the air, all the way into the black of space. This defiantly seemed strange, but since I had expressed the desire to see how far it went, I was already in the mindset so I just went with the flow. After reaching the top remember remarking to myself "At least I can see where I was" I was now a great distance from the planet I was standing on just moments prior. This planet was blue with oceans and streaking with weather systems, the pillar, now growing smaller as it disappeared into the distant planet led my eyes to the brownish-green continent in which it was planted.

This undoubtedly looked like the planet Earth, but there was no way for me to be sure. As fast as I got there, I shot back down to the ground, I had little or no sense of travel since the trip was almost instantaneous. Now I was back on the ground, the pillar was still there, everything was the same but I was a little unnerved by the sight of people around me and the surrounding area. There numbers ranged anywhere from 10-15 at first and upwards of 50 as time progressed. Many of these people were walking along the concrete walkway by me. Although for the most part these people looked normal and lifelike, there were a few instances where one or two would look strange, some of them were void of features, either they had no face I could recognize, or they were a silhouette.

The majority of them were moving around freely but a few standing still caught my attention. These ones I believed to be in the same situation as me. I seem to remember calling out to one of them saying they have to place that object down in front of them. Not much else in the way of interaction was made. I managed to move over some hills and follow a few a few of the figures, this eventually fatigued me to the point where it was hard to move anywhere. In general I had the sensation that I was tapped. The duration of this experience lasted anywhere from 15 minutes to a half an hour. I remember the pain building up to the point where I just stopped trying to move.

Shortly after stopping I found myself lying in bed. I was back in my room now, but I was still paralyzed. The large throbbing pain in my lower back was still there. After a few moments of readjustment I started to relax. And just as the experience was winding down, my mother came into my room to check on me. What I saw and felt was so real that I quickly reported what I saw to her. Wile I was describing what had happened, another strange phenomena hung over me. This time it was a very powerful feeling of déjà vu. It seemed like I had been in this very situation, or ones like it many times. For some reason I knew this is where I had been in prior times of sickness. And memories of times when I had been there seemed to be planted in my head, memories I had never known.

This story has me asking questions. I hadn't put the two together at the time, but just 3 days later Robert Bruce made an appearance on Coast to Coast AM on the topic of Astral Projection. This interview captivated me to the point where I went to his website, and found these forums.
Could the story I related to have any ties to Astral Projection? Is there any explanation to this?
Hallucination, or dream perhaps?

Any info will be appreciated, I know from reading these boards, there are many gifted and knowledgeable people here.  :)

Wow - that's some experience.

Fevers are a sure sign of some weird things happening.

There are quite a number of points you mention that ring true with me.  These are:

Seasickness - whilst I don't feel sick as such, I do get the sensation that I'm floating on water just before I exit my body.  It's a slight swaying movement that is quite pleasant once you've got used to it.

Slipping/Falling Sensation - very frequently I get this (and I believe it's very common) - again, just before I exit.  It also happens sometimes just before sleep - you must have had that before where you jolt back awake?

Knowledge - instinctively I know what to do without having to figure it out.  I don't know how I know, I just know.  (This is when I'm out of body, by the way).  Something feels right (or wrong).

Shooting up and down instantly - What you describe reminds me of something that used to happen when I was feverish as a child.  It was hard to describe, but it was like there was something very very far away in your mind, and then in a flash, it was really up close to your face, too close for comfort, and then again in the next instant, it had zoomed away again.  I've heard it described as "big world, little world".  It's a strange sensation, and I've also experienced it when I've been incredibly relaxed.

Strange Phenomena of Deja Vu - Yes, yes and yes.  Especially when I started having OBEs - they seemed familiar somehow.  I guess I'd had them as a child and didn't realise what they were then.

It's almost worth having a fever, just for the whacky stuff that happens

We all find nonsenses to believe in; it's part of being alive.

Thank you for the insight Sarah, it's nice to know these experiences aren't solely confined to my own imagination. It's also nice to know im not going crazy!  So would it be going too far to say this had something to do with the Astral plane, or is this just common to sickness? I've heard these "abilities" are known to happen randomly, or provoked by sickness or injury, but I am in no way experienced in any of these occurrences.
By the way, I just thought I'd take a shot and throw this up here. Has anyone here seen or heard of the reference to a "Blue Hand" during the circumstances above?
