Hi, I'd really appreciate some help.
I'm not TOO aware of what astral projection actually is, but i'm pretty sure something weird is going on with me.
For the past few years I've always been able to wake up and have no use of my body, totally paralised & have this terrible vibrating noise in my head. While these experiences haven't actually frightened me, they've more confused me.
Last night though, somthing extreamly frightning happened and i'm not sure what it is.  Astral projection seems to be the most reasonable excuse though...
I woke up at some point, opened my eyes and realised i was unable to move any part of my body. i was just lying there, trying to will myself to wiggle a finger or one of my toes, when all of a sudden, my back started to rise off the bed. I had no control over any of this & very very frightened. Suddenly my whole body started shaking, as if i was trying to pull myself back down. All of a sudden my back relaxed, I stopped shaking and i layed back down.  After about 5 seconds, this really loud humming started up in my head & my whole body (i'm not sure if PHYSICALLY my body lifted, but i could feel my body rising) started to float above the bed.  I still couldn't move any part of me, but I was so scared. I was trying to move so bad, i think i may have wiggled my finger a little then I dropped back down and slowley i started to gain control over myself again.
Now, if this isn't astral projection, could someone PLEASE tell me what it is??
I know there are some weird things going on in my house..spirit wise..not sure if it has anything to do with that.
I look forward to your responses and will answer any questions.
Thanks,
Monica.

Monica,

Rest assured, you are fine.  These are classic examples of an AP, the only thing you need to do next time is relax and don't be afraid.

Some people refer to your experience as night paralysis, but it is one of the first stages of an OBE.  I speak from experience here and I would imagine quite a few others can relate as well.

Keep us posted, but remember... relax and don't fight it, believe me it will be an awesome and amazing journey.

uhhhhhhh no. rest assured that you are in sleep paralysis. a natural function of the body that makes u not move in real life so u can move in a dream. because AP is not real but lucid dreaming is.. for the love of god why is everyone lying about ap being real? its called DREAMING

I hope you stick around and at the same time don't get offensive towards members of this board, so far you haven't been rude in my opinion.  We need balnce, but you know, you could be wrong.....  In my own LD's, OBE's AP's or whatever you wish to call them, I have had concensus experiences with other living people, to the minutest detail.  That's what keeps me, basically, intrigued... and I know it's more than just a simple dream.  I'lll check out the dreamviews site you posted when I have time, it looks interesting.

And the threat of martial law in the US is real? I guess it depends on who you ask!

I echo catmeow's general comments, adding that we definitely need a less "occult" interpretation of dreaming, and hope that you will stick around to contribute.

Telos,

Could you please define 'Less occult' for me?

jay dawg

gee thanks some of you have a sound mind. i joined the forums because it seemed interesting to me. then i found out everything people are talking about really covers the same scientifically proven things that happens in the dreaming world.

and yes i believe dream sharing is POSSIBLE because we are all connected by an energy force. that doesnt mean its spiritual at all.

sorry not trying to put a downer on you guys but lucid dreaming is a science

Sure. I mean less emphasis on the supernatural, magical, and mystical, and more emphasis on the natural, practical, and discernible.

Quotesorry not trying to put a downer on you guys but lucid dreaming is a science

Woah. That's not a downer at all! Do you know how difficult it is to convince scientists of that??

jay dawg

no i dont, if a scientist has any brains he would know LDing is very possible it happens all the time and theyve done exparaments with REM eye movement and controlled LDing breathing to prove it works. not that any of that was needed anyway.

Telos

I envy your inexperience, if you'll allow my saying so.

My hair goes gray when I think about how much time I've wasted trying to discuss the subject with psychologists, psychiatrists, physicists and professors, who all treat lucid dreaming as something akin to an aesthetic anomaly, if they do not outright doubt its existence.

Certainly there is scientific work on lucid dreaming, and it is increasing all the time, but I think you've mischaracterized its current reputation in the scientific community.

jay dawg

so what you are saying is there are a ton of moronic scientists? i can imagine that to be true lol.

btw  "If, for example, you try to guess or intuit what the card is, you may see the card you have guessed, instead of seeing the actual card."

can u please explain to me how that is any different than a lucid dream where what u expect to happen happens? that one quote proves ap is not true. ill leave it at that and let who wants to believe it to believe it. doesnt hurt me any. cuz if u were APing then the card would 100% always be very sharp and the text wouldnt change like in an LD and it would be what it is not what you imagine it to be. o well i dont want to put a damper on your guys fun. sorry

Can you elaborate on what you mean by the possibility of dream sharing connection through an energy force and/or the cause of it?

Much appreciated ...

jay dawg

ya.

we are all connected by an unknown energy force that holds and binds everything together. call it God if u will. the god head or whatever. so things like mind reading and dream sharing and ANYTHING is possible. not that it is easy. i believe since brainwaves are energy emitting through existance, that it should be POSSIBLE to dreamshare or speak to one another with thought. i have no clue how many drugs or meditating something like that would take. i just know it has to be possible. and being in a dream, in your mind, would seem to give you access to brainwaves and such. like since u are existing in your mind then i see no reason why the mind couldnt pick up other brainwaves in time and space and let you perceive them.

yes one day i hope to achieve this. i have read that the guy at www.lucidcrossroads.com says he has had a true dream sharing expierience.

Vvid1012

Surely it isn't an 'unknown' energy? ;)

I think the reason people don't call it lucid dreaming is because of how broad it is.  Lucid or Clear dreaming is just a dream with vivid images and experiences.  Many people can have a lucid dreams but no AP...The line is where one actually 'wakes up' in the dream.

And of course scientists call it strictly lucid, simply so people will take them seriously.

are u denying that fact that u can have conscious dreams? wow i didnt know i was dealing with minds like these. being fully awake in a dream is an LD and thats all.

Telos

Vvid1012, I think the distinction you're making between lucid dreams as simply vivid dreams and AP as "waking up" in a dream does not exist modern psychology. LaBerge has defined lucid dreaming as "dreaming while knowing that you are dreaming," and encompasses both sides of the line that you described.

However, I agree with you that there is a distinction somewhere between lucid dreams and such experiences that seem to go beyond the normal characteristics that we ascribe to lucid dreams - more than vividness and more than simple control and emotional serenity - and that we must give these experiences a name (preferably one that isn't spiritual, religious, occult, etc.).

Andali has made a nice post about this. I encourage everyone to visit and save it from going off-topic.

the deffinition of lucid dreaming is you WAKE up in the dream world. are u saying APing is flying around the earth in your spirit? or are u saying APing is just another word for a very high level lucid dream?

Vvid1012

Yeah, I guess I haven't updated on that definition.  I just grew up with that notion in mind figuring it would remain constant.  Damn terminology, always changing...and so rapidly these days.

And no Jay, Im not denying...if you bothered to read and understand my previous post, you would have seen that I simply meant it is given another name(whether its the same or not--for god's sake)so people have a better understanding of what you speak.
