If electricity comes from electrons, does morality come from morons?

I have planned to do just that ever since I realized AP might just be possible. I just need to get quite a bit better at the art before I try such an experiment. Better, as in having enough control to have a fairly high success rate at actually getting out. =)

I can't see it being very interesting. The actual inner workings of the internet are actually very boring.
Sorry, im a computer science student. Unless packets and binary are are your think then i doubt you would find it even vaguely interesting.

Ceriel N

You're obviously not a hacker. [:P]
(Hacker, as in its old skool meaning, and IMO only meaning. [;)])

And I wonder if you'd see that API of the OS, or a symbolical representation of data, or like you said, ones and zeros.

No im not a hacker. Too lazy to be a hacker[:)]

I guess that you would probably see just the electrical signal. It would give anyone a serious headache trying to translate that into something meaningful without a computer.

Ceriel N

As far as I can tell the astral is a world closely related to information, so maybe the net would turn symbolical for the astral explorer. Interaction with the physical (electronic pulses) net might not be what we'd encounter, but rather the information those pulses represent.

actually i was thinking more along the lines of what we see on the screen, not the data. i mean being able to travel ov the net would be cool. but if its gonna be just 1's and zero's or something like that, than maybe i might not want go there. but just to look around i might try it out.

Don't forget to tell us what you see. [:D]

Or maybe post here while you're at it. [;)]

When you can do at least 10 million binary math problems per second in astral, then you might be able to play a computer game by projecting into the computer circuits. I doubt you're fast enough. If you get even 1 of those problems wrong, the whole game could crash.

jc84corvette

LOL I'd be playing CS then!

Van-Stolin

I would like to see what would happen if you projected into the video game itself.  Now that would be cool, interacting with the characters and finding out who they really like instead of having to guess at it all from the conversations set up by the programmers, that would make fanfic writing so much easier.

I think you couldn't change the programmers code.

Van-Stolin

No you couldn't I am saying that becuase of the game you are able to go to a spot in the astral where the characters exist and interact with them like that.

It would be the same kind of thing you can do for paintings, someone mentioned printing out the Astral Pulse Island and then flying into it so I don't think it would be imposiblle in the astral to do the same thing with what is on your computer or tv screen at the time.

ya say if you were gonna go into tony hawks proskater four, or grand theft auto ice city, you skate with tony and steal cars too, and not go to hell lol. i think im gonna try it. ill leave the game on and go into the tv and onto the game! that would be cool! anyonelse joining my plan? say I

I would go into Half Life. Very interesting!

You could go into other peoples thoughts about the game, but it wouldnt be the game. If you were in the game, you would be surprised at how mechanical the characters are, behind what you see on the screen.

Van-Stolin

Shouldn't you be able to find these characters in the astral though.  I mean thoughts become real in the astral after they have been thought about for a while in the physical right?  Well if that was true you should be able to find them in the astral, even though that might be impossible concidering that the astral is infinite.

My 2 credits:

Everybody, including virtual characters are subject to thought projection. Everybody witnessing the character gets certain impressions from it, modify and reflect them back. The effect of this is that the character is constructed by its witnesses and develops dynamically. This is true for both virtual and real 'people', except that the real people also have a 'true' self that they refer to as 'I'.
We we exist as ourselves and as images in the minds of others, or if you wish; as astral constructs. Game characters exist only as astral constructs.

Cool so I was right.  The only hard part is finding them.

Hi All,
About six weeks ago I was wondering if you could project awareness along the Internet connection to the person I was having an MSN conversation with.  I started with a person who lives about 100 miles away from me and found that it was easier than I had thought.  Looking out the other persons screen at them was a little weird tho.

The next time I was on MSN with them she asked me to project to her and see if I could remove a neg that was hassling her, so away I went, and it worked well again.  I figured the Communications highway would not be so very different to a normal highway we use to get somewhere, especially since we were in direct communications.

So the next step was to see if it would be as effective over much longer distances.  The person I was communicating with was Osiris from Ireland, who used to be a member here.  I am in Australia, so it was a huge step up in distances, but it didn't matter, the connection was there and it worked.

I began to wonder if it could be used to work with people that needed help, so I began talking with a few more members about it to see if they wanted to try it.  And away it went from there, until one person forgot to leave messenger on, so I had to find them some other way, which I may make a separate post at some other time.

So, this works, and you might like to try it with some people.  And it would be great practice for anyone who is interested in Ap'ing and trying something a little different.

Love Always.[:)]

i guess i will have to try that, thanx for sharing Teyesin.

Strange... MSN messenger should work through a central server, so the connection isn't direct. It must be some sort of emulation on the human side that handles the connection, the visual representation of the client functioning as a focal point or something...

Maybe it could be used as a way to go to Astral Pulse Island? =)

i dont know if it will take you to the island, besides, if i wanted to goto an island i would pick probably the carribean, or the bahamas YA!

Back to the original post...to get into the net with AP. Now, I'm going to take a few steps further and see what you guys think about this idea.

First, assume that eventually everyone can AP and get into the internet (assume the net is exactly as it is today). Now, based on that, a game is constructed in the mind of a central individual...a server soul so to speak...

Questions: Would anybody be willing to play a game like this? How hard would it be to design/program? Could you "import code" from another mind easily?

The things I find interesting in this is you'd need an optimal person to be the server (trustworthy to not change code, can support infinite connections, able to successfully block attacks if that becomes a problem), you'd need the player base (maybe), and you'd need a really good game! Frankly, I have done some thought about this, and I think it could be possible to pull off, but I admit that something like this isn't what I'd want to make right now anyways.
