It sounds interesting and heavily related to sleep paralysis.
I use a tts engine for reading.
Can you send a sample?
I don't have a tts format but happy to provide a sample. Would your tts engine read txt, doc etc? Alternatively if you have windows xp or above I can send a sample using a lua gui. That will take a few days to put together.
It reads lots of formats. On a very few I have to load the next page. These are PDF format mostly. E-pub, kindle etc no problems even with pictures.
It doesn't like the very old text, if the typeface has irregularities it reads them but the words are broken and very difficult to follow while doing other tasks.
Im using android mostly, portability and multifunctional.
