I wouldn't disreguard it quite yet.
Most people aren't able to stay concsious during the entire exit, and I must admit out of the dozens of OBE's I've had, Ive only been conscious the entire exit for maybe 3 or 4.  I mean the real-time/Astral has a special feel to it thats quite easy to recognise (in my opinion from dreams) although many times if you are not completely conscious after the exit, your dream mind may be throwing images all over the place, even though you really are projecting.  Sometimes also, since you are confused the weird distortions are just you changing the  energies or even just your perception of a shadow or object or whatever.  After you've had several, you may end up realizing that you've had a few OBE's in the past, but because of these problems, you dismissed them as dreams.  Once you've had a lot though, you become less and less confused, and it becomes easier to recognise them from dreams.  After you've had the consious exit, you will probably never confuse an OBE for a dream again

I know this sounds like a goofy comparison but I have experiece a sound much like the one in The Matrix when Neo is getting his training. For those that have seen iot, you know the sound im talking about. it is a loud and painful screech. I was laying in bed and fell asleep and woke up semi-lucid during a dream. I immediatly heard a loud screech similar to the noise i spoke of above. It was so painful and annoying that I could swear i would have gone insane if it had lasted too long. its NOT NICE at all just like you said.

Hello,

I found your text about projecting most intressting and I have a question. If you do not have time to read the background; just skip to the question part. :)

Background:
Some ten years ago I were quite intressted in OOBE and after several weeks of trying I finally achieved what thought was a OOBE - I must however define it as a lucid dream (not an astral projection since I have that splitt second or sometimes longer period of not being consious before the exit) with a pint of alice in wonderland effects.

Most times I feel myself leaving the body. I would characterise the feeling as if I cast my physical boddy and leave it with my mental body.

To me all of the experiences have been very very vivid and I can remember them clearly. While having the dream I feel that the dream is very "real", however when waking up - it is just a memory of a dream.

Question:
Sometime during this lucid dreams I hear a high pitched sound; it is very very loud and not nice at all - when you hear it, you just want it to go away. The first time I was a little bit frightned I guess; but after a while I learned that I just had to relax and then the sound eventually would go away. I also recall that there was a relation between hearing this noise and my "jaw-muscles" cramping-up or something like that; at least I remeber that I felt pain in my teeth. Have you experienced something similiar or heard about this before? My question is why this sound is and if there is something else that you can tell me about it.

Thank you for reading this post.

Best Regards
