Hum... maybe they don't wanna talk because animals are not supposed to be able to talk...  [;)]
Maybe they were busy and had no time to chat with you...
Hum... in fact you talked with them; it was just a little bit too short...  [|)]
Next time, ask them why they don't want to...
Also, when they say they don't wanna talk, it does not mean they don't want you to talk...
Try to tell them a joke and see how they react... [:D]
If electricity comes from electrons, does morality come from morons?

LadyEowyn,
Maybe their your totems (as it's often called)? On the other side there is the opposing or opposite. The white/black birds I think of yin yang. You mentioned the first cat was male. Is this your  instincts developing? Cats represent female instinctual qualities (e.g. hunting and searching). Birds represent messages (e.g. higher planes to the earth plane).

Have you ever read "Animal-Speak" by Ted Andrews? This book helped me understand the animal kingdom.If you like, I'll look up birds and cats up in the book when I get a chance.

@Wisp
Wel this is kinda funny because I often wondered what my totem animal was and I always assumed it has to be one animal.
Well I grew up with a cat and I love cats and cats usually love me, I've had a cat that did not know me sit on my lap and the owners freaked out because that cat never sits on people laps that aren't familiar. [:D]
But I have also a thing with birds, I've even had a sparrow eat from my hand, while sparrows are usually so scared.
Anyway, that dream was from before I actually wondered about totam animals and it never crossed my mind that it may actually have showed them to me...
I feel kind of stupid not thinking of it because I always felt it had to be either a cat or a bird...

Well I knew the cat was male, because of the low man voice he said "no" in, so I don't know about the instincts...

And that book sounds interesting, I'll look for it...

@Nagual
Yes, I feel kind of stupid walking away from them, but this was my first lucid dream knowing about lucid dreams (the other one, I was too little) so I guess I was too busy going "Coooool"
I now the next time I'll try to talk more.

holy reality

It seems that having a conversation with someone in your dreams is more or less like having a conversation with your subconscious... is it not?

I remember when I first went around trying to initiate conversations with others that they wouldn't talk to me, or they seemed completely void of all feelings and intelligence.

This however, could very well be a reflection upon my personality, given that I'm not eager to converse with people, especially strangers, and probably seem to lack emotion most of the time.

I haven't done much experimentation with conversing with others while lucid but I'd venture to say it could teach you a lot about yourself...

Maybe I'll try to tonight and see what happens....

I've only had two lucid dreams [:(] and I want more [:D] but that is not the question here...
When I had a lucid dream I remembered that I read on a website that it is good to start a conversation because you might learn something from it. Well in my dream I was walking in the streets and I only ran into a cat and when I asked him if he wanted to talk to me he said "no" in a very low voice. I met a few more cats who all did not want to talk to me...
Then I met a big black and a big white bird who both did not want to talk to me and seemed even annoyed that I dared to ask them if they wanted to talk...
Now normally animals like me [:)] so has anyone an idea what this was about?
