Hey all,
So basically iv been remembering a lot more of my dreams lately i think its due to the more meditation iv been doing,
Anyways from what seems to be about 10 -15 mins before i wake up i start to become lucid or just start viewing my dream with clarity,
I suddenly gain conciseness and start to see whats happening, i don't have control an explanation would be like my dream body and mind is just doing its own thing in the dream 'sort of' and I'm in the body also just watching it all but i don't actually take control until the last sort of 2 mins before i wake (which is annoying) as i want to gain control a lot earlier.
And once i take control its great! I just do what i want but only for a few mins then i loose lucidity and wake up :(
This morning i was riding a bike trying to get away from someone or something then i crossed a bridge and went into what was like a house cut in half so i walked straight into a room and thats when i gained full control i leaned my bike up against a table in the room and suddenly thought to myself HEY! Im actually here now, i remembered everything prior to taking control in the dream an just thought awesome I'm lucid what should i do, then i thought i can do what i want so i imagined a beautiful girl to experiment, Sure enough i turned around there she was a beautiful brunette who instantly came toward me and started to touch me kiss me etc, it felt super real! I touched her hair and her body it was all so real then i noticed it fading and thought NO NO NO and then i woke up haha. darn it.
There was also a door in the room i was in that sort of caught my attention but then this girl rolled up and took more of my attention
And i really wish i opened the door instead, who knows what was behind it..
Just wondering if anyone has any tips on trying to gain control earlier in the dream instead of watching it for ages and any pointers how to stay lucid for longer and not to wake up as soon as i gain control? A week or so ago i gained control and instantly rubbed my hands together as iv heard that can help to strengthen your grip on the dream but it didn't work i woke up not long after doing it..
Thanks for your time.
It comes with practice and time. Instead of being disappointed that you only get two minutes of lucidity, be grateful that all your work and intent is starting to payoff.
We tend to get frustrated over little advancements when in actuality they are great milestones.
And don't think of it as getting there. You have already arrived!
What helps me gain lucidity is getting myself to notice something is out of whack. That's hard when you accept every strange ting you see in dreams as reality. Sometimes looking at a clock then looking back at it and its another time. Reading something then looking away then back again and it say something else. During the day I question if I'm dreaming and it brings itself right into my subconscious as a habit. It helps it become automatic in dreams. Just a few ideas.
Ye i understand, i was disappointed that it ended but defiantly was exited and thankful that I'm starting to gain lucidity in my dreams, and more often too.
Im defiantly slowly advancing and building towards my first OBE and getting lucid and holding it for longer is the start of my training.. Thats what iv come up with anyways ;)
thanks
I've heard that sometimes if you get too excited, the dream can cease. Try not to get excited if you are, that is.

Hey AstralJames,
Since this post I have excelled A LOT. And You are correct, The excitement defiantly overwhelms you at times which If not controlled can result in your experience coming to a end.
I have since got this under contol and have had MUCH greater results.
Cheers, enlightnd

Yup... first it's fear that ruins everything and then it's the excitement. They can both be overcome pretty easily but it's one of those things that you have to experience to understand.
Glad to hear you are doing better with it. I actually JUST had my first "realization" in any dream. I was in the dream and I felt my dream self ask "am I dreaming?" Right when I became lucid, the whole science split into like 10 pictures of the same dream, fading further and further into darkness, and I just ended up waking up. Pretty disappointed, but extremely happy I had my first dream where I realized I was dreaming.
Thanks, And well done mate!
That for me was where it all started, It wasn't long after i started gaining lucidity more frequent that i had my first proper conscious projection.
Your gaining Lucid Awareness, I personally wouldn't refer to it (not that it really matters) as your dream self asking the question , As its Your actual consciousness (yourself) realising that you are in a dream (which is excellent), And thats when you can take control of the scene.
You sound exactly like i was , You'll be disappointed it ended for sure! But as they told me, Defiantly realise thats a major mile stone in your attempts and only means your one step closer to the real thing!
You will figure it all out, Soon enough things just start falling into place for you as your ready to move forward, One thing that helped me to keep lucidness longer - Once i realised i had gained lucidity And was no longer watching my dream i was 'involved' Instantly rub your hands together! This defiantly helps to gain a firmer grasp on the dream, Also touch your surroundings, FEEL your surroundings, FEEL the friction and warmth as your rub your hands together, It will buy you some time, But this will only work so much and you will of course eventually wake up.
Each time you gain lucidity from now on it will most likely last slightly longer each time and become easier and clearer. You will be more consciously 'aware' once you become lucid and you won't even need to question it, You will JUST NO And start to do some steps to further your grasp on the reality. Basically you won't dawdle around, You will no that your time is limited and start to explore the experience.
Good luck and safe travels, Im sure it won't be long for you now till you have your first AP, Dont fret too much as i realised its not something you can force, It will happen when your ready, Probably when you least expect it.
Cheers.
Sometimes if someone is not regular with lucid dreams then the person can loose some concentration.
You have to do reality checks all the time for gaining control. It will definitely help you in controlling your dreams.
What really helped me to become lucid in my dreams was wrighting down all my dreams and doing realty checks. You ask yourself several time throughout the day "am I dreaming" and try to put your fingers through your hand but you have to mean it. Do it when something seems off in reality. In your dreams your fingers will go through your hand that's when you know your dreaming. Or you can wright a letter on your finger and look at it throughout the day. Also a real head start into dream memory is setting up and alarm every hour and wrighting down your dream then go back to sleep. I become lucid every night, usually after I wake up and then sleep again, sometimes create my own dream (WILD teq). If not lucid exptremly vivid. I can hold lucidity for long periods of time, it's all about not becoming too excited. If you feel yourself loosing your dream pick something from the dream an really focus on it, the color, emotion, texture, ext.
I hope this helped!! Happy dreaming!
