So beautifully sinister

I used to have all kinds of nightmares back when I was still a kid, but one beautiful day (night) they all suddenly stopped. Since then, I've noticed quite a curious change of my taste for dreams - everything that is sinister actually attracts me during the night!

Now, not to be misunderstood I probably should say that I do not feel attracted to monsters and aliens.    And, I do not spend my days watching horror movies or making Gothic drawings. Quite the contrary, I'm a happy and positive person. It's just when I go to sleep, it is highly possible that I will end up having tea with Satan (I'm serious, I've really had such a dream).

Satan actually shows up in my dreams at least once a year, usually in spring, and it is always...umm..nice to meet him. He is a highly intelligent and kind gentleman, with white, neat hair, always very elegant, and with an aura of power. Last time I had the "visit" he taught me how to play flute and told that everything would be very good in my life if I obeyed his advices. I don't remember the advices, though.

Last night I had another pleasant dream. I saw that a Persian shopkeeper (his shop was called "Quazan" or "Quazin", it dealt with all kinds of ethnic stuff from all over the world) asked me to help him because he thought that some demons had possessed his shop. I came to him and did a banishing spell (nice and entertaining, isn't it), using the word "Uguns" all the time (means "fire" in Latvian, but the dream was all in English for some reason, so I used this word in my mother tongue). After this, I had a normal "dream day", except for the fact that these demons were now following (actually, hunting) me. And I liked it! I saw them as two young people, a guy and a girl, all dressed in black, with black hair and eyes - only their skin was unnaturally white, almost albino. They were both very good looking, and especially the male was exceptionally handsome. I let them get close all the time, I talked with them, and I guess their idea was to "take me with them so that I became one of them". In the dream I even felt excited about this.

And I've had many more dreams of this kind. The thing I don't understand is why the evil and sinister things are so appealing in my dreams, though my thoughts and standards are absolutely opposite during the day?

"The struggle with paternal authority or power within oneself is often represented as the devil. If we change our code of conduct, we may meet the devil because we release the previously unlived area of self"
I know dreams are important. I always wonder how I can use them to help myself.

You mean that I am meeting my masculine side of mind? Sounds logic. Especially because I turn to my dream Satan always as to "my father".

Hey Vilkate,

I've had a lot of dreams with the devil in them (and a lot with God). A memorable one included me being in a landscape dominated by a tower, there was a gigantic goats head floating in the air near it (which I knew as the devil). During the conversation I was having with it, it would occasionally seem to pixellate slightly, almost as if it was computer generated. I've also travelled through time to the birth of everything and I had a meeting with god and the devil there. In other dreams I've been in hell and battled death (the archetypal skeleton in robes – I was trying to steal a book from him) and been hunted by the devil.
A dream which always made me curious seemed to see me in some form of 'dark ritual'. I'll paste what I wrote to another group about it:

Quote
I had a strange dream last night and I was wondering if anyone could tell me what it means. It concerned me being in a room at night, it was quite large and I was on a bed. I had a pentagram (pointing upwards) drawn on the back of my hand (the right hand I think) it was drawn in red. I can't remember if it had any other symbols on it. The dream consisted of me trying to do something, I can't remember quite what, but I had to finish a ceremony. There was a single black candle on a desk and it had to be lit, I had to pierce my hand to draw blood before I could light it though. I think I carried this out a few times. But later towards the end of the dream, the candle was a different colour (it might have been white) and the top of it was stretched out into a cup shape, the candle was now stood in a clear bowl which was deeply full of setting clear wax. I then put my hands into the setting wax crumbling it.

I'm still not sure what I was observing in this dream .

A day has passed, and I am still thinking about the two demons I saw last night, for they were so very... tempting, so appealing.

Sometimes I think I get obsessed with things I see in dreams.

You aren't the only one thats for certain. I have the same obsession. You may think its not right or its not healthy. However it's simply irrisistable. I have the same feeling towards a demon I call V.

I wouldn't say the dreams with devils and demons in are more fascinating or appealing than others for me. What I do find interesting is that I can see a lot of conditioning from a Christian upbringing in my reaction to these dreams (my family were not religious; it was a school/self thing). Certain dreams (containing devils etc) seem to produce physical symptoms when I think of them which seems to suggest deeply ingrained beliefs regarding evil/devil which manifest as physical tension etc. I guess it's something which will be worked through as time goes on .

I grew up in a Christian family, and I decided to follow some Christian beliefs, too - that is why I am curious about why "evil" is often represented as "good" in my dreams.

About evil as good, very interesting i have heard that satan's followers called the bible "satan's warbook" the church is all about control and the Bible itself is corrupted with lies

Vilkate

I sometimes participate in some Christian forums, and we recently had a discussion about this. If we agree to the fact that Satan is the "father of lies", then wouldn't it be just logic if the Church, the Bible and its followers were the greatest of his lies?

However, I don't think I agree to this.

A note-able dream from over 10 years ago because it was so vivid.

I'm at a banquet, not really a guest, but sort of a visiting observer.

The table is piled with seafood, bright red lobsters and shellfish, food everywhere.

The person at the head of the table takes notice, talks to me, and the one thing I remember him saying is, " For each man there is a religion." (For each man there is a (different) religion)

With the words, the accompanying thought in my mind was the meaning that every person interprets religion in their own way through their own mental filters, and that in this world there is not a true agreement on religions because every individual in this world has their own unique belief, therefore, no consensus = no knowledge of truth.

The gentleman at the head of the table perhaps represented a Satan like character or minion so to speak.

Someone who's savvy, business like, working on selling the illusion to maintain the population in his world/s.

In my dreams im usually doing something stupid, like last night i was drooling on someone's flowers, which upset them, while watching myself do this on TV.......anyway i remember meeting a demon in my dream, he was huge and black but he had like a red outline, he was real ugly, i saw him and thought "i have to kill this guy", i ran up to and plunged my sword into him, dont ask me were the sword came from, he looked down at me quite calmly and said "that wasnt very nice", then i felt bad and apologised, he said he would be ok and would regenerate, then i helped him with his shopping, he makes small cameos in my dream now and then, maybe he is like a guide but my screwed up head just applied a weird form for him.
