Hello!

This is my case.
When I'm quiet, I heard a whistle in my head.

Is that the anahata nada?
Can be that a product of anxiety?
Could both causes be connected?

Anyway, I'm trying to understand what are the energetic factors involved in anxiety disease.

Thanks.

I don't know about the others but hearing a "high Pitched" whistle or ring in your ears is a sign of hearing damage.

If you work around loud equipment or listen your radio really loud those kinds of things can do it.  If you don't then don't worry about it.

Thank you cainam.

You can be right, that was my third hypothesis, haven't you heared about two others?

See you.

cainam_nazier

I had no idea what "anahata nada" was until just a few minutes ago when I looked it up.  And oddly enough I thought it was kinda interesting.  I know most often when my ears will ring it is only in the absence of all other sound.  But I still kinda don't think it means anything.  Maybe I will explore it some more next time.

I do know what "anxiety" is but I never really associated the ringing of ears with it.  I guess it would depend on what your specific anxiety was about.

Hi Cardio,

I'm not quite sure what kind of sound you're hearing exactly, but I hear a high pitch sound all the time when I am quiet and listen for it.  I believe I am hearing the small electrical current that is always constant within our bodies.  I have heard other mystics and yogis talk about this as being the "divine sound".  I sometimes use this sound as a focus for meditation... which seems to work quite well.

I also get a louder and different kind of ringing after being around very loud noises, which always passes away after a few moments.

Maybe this will help some.

I also use that sound to focus. I read somewhere if you can intensify it enough it can get throw you out of your body(OBE) or something like that :dont-know:

I asked a doctor a long time ago and he informed me that it was the sound of blood rushing through my head.

I think blood moving has a different sound...  If you plug your ears by pushing the little flaps that half-cover your ear canal with your fingers and listen for a few moments... you can hear a low rumbling sound, which sounds to me like the movement of blood and you can hear a rhythm that seems to correlate with the heartbeat.

Also, if you can hear the sounds that some electrical equipment make, like a TV or computer monitor... it's almost that same high-pitch sound that I hear when I'm quiet and listen for it.  I think this doctor you mentioned was just guessing when he said this.

Yes, there have been times when I meditate on this sound and it seems to jump to a much louder version of itself, and it seems like I may have shifted into an alternate reality or dimension or something.

Thanks,

I'll try to meditate while I hear this sound.
I'll tell you my experience.

Bye.

Hello,

I think I've reach some temporal hypothesis:

-This sound is influenced by our emotions.

-By concentrating in this sound we reach some degree of mental stability, that allows us to understand better our primitive mind.

CFTraveler

Or, it could be the sound of air passing through the ear canal.

cardio

Hello CFT,

the air doesn't pass through the ear canal, unless you breath through your ears

Anyway, I don't know if you feel this sound, but it's not affected by breathing. If stop breathing, sound doesn't change.

I'm reading now some books of Yogi Ramacharaka, this sound could be connected with raja yoga, and this autor looks like good.

Agur.

CFTraveler

So how do the ears equalize air pressure?

Leilah

(will be going on rant now...)

Oh man. I totally forgot!

The other day I was doing a little meditation. I tried to change things up by using ear plugs. After awhile, I heard this wind noise. I'm thinking OK, maybe its coming from outside and I can hear it.  But hello, I had earplugs on. Then I started hearing just plain out weird noises, although I think it was coming from my body? lol. To be specific, from my brain.

But wow. I cant believe i forgot about that one.
Actually, I cant believe I got scared.

Cardio -About that whistling noise - I have no idea what causes us to hear it.

Covelo - I know exactly what your talking about. A lot of times when I'm practicing, I'll just focus on the blackness and that noise will suddenly be a lot louder.

Whoops. Forgot something AGAIN.

A couple weeks ago, middle of the night, I woke up and went back to sleep. I had the vibrations. Only thing is, the vibrations would become stronger only when I would breath shallowly (my body was definitely awake at the time). Accompanying the vibrations was this high pitched noise (was that the whistling sound your talking about, cardio? -it sounded like a tea kettle was going off). So, the less I breathed in- the more I vibrated and the louder that sound was.

Strange.

If anyone's read muldoon's book: projection of the astral body, i think he mentions something about oxygen. Then again, maybe not.

Anyway, why would the sound & the vibrations become increasingly prominent the less I (consciously) breathed??

Quote from: CFTravelerSo how do the ears equalize air pressure?

it uses a liquid substance in the chochlea i think.. or just above it.

cardio

Hi,

air could pass through ears but I think this air flow would never cause a long sound.
I think the liquid in the ears produces pression onto the internal canals to give us equilibrium sensation.

Medicine, seems to me, is not able to explain this sound accurately, I think there is something more. Anyway, it shouldn't be despised.

Leilah, I think you are referring to intracranial sounds, arisen when you get off from your body.

When I get out, my sensation of breathing stops completely, but that is because I'm in the astral body, and there is not necessity for breathing. If you keep on breathing, you can't detach from your human body, you must let it to breath by itself, without your care.

Leilah

cardio- I wasn't exactly trying to get out of body. In fact, I don't think I was even close. As I said earlier, my body was awake while I experienced the vibrations.

I haven't heard about intracranial sounds. I'll have to look into it.

Someone explain this please, my ears ring all of the time, and I think it's from my medicine, a little while ago, something strange happened, I had just woken up from a power nap, and layed there for a minute, I closed my eyes, and heard a flute or piccolo playing a few notes, it was very loud, and very clear.  Any ideas?

Hello,

there is some kind of information, from East old philosophy, but all I got is in Spanish. I think you'll have to look for the "samadhi" book, (IV.65-IV.114):
http://www.abserver.es/yogadarshana/pradipika45.htm

Mazzierose, where does that sound come from?
Here you have an idea (if you can't find the above mentioned book):

The objective is to hear this sound during all the day, so you'll achieve mental stability and happiness.

This sound comes from the center of the body.

Although you hear different sounds, you must direct your attention to the finest ones (highest pitched ?). Through this practice, this sound will be heard above external sounds in 15 days.

Thank you Cardio for the information, I translated the page using Babelfish http://babelfish.altavista.digital.com/
