we do use our entire brain... well, maybe not everyone (no this is not aimed at you sloppy).

the 10% thing is 10% AT A TIME. throughout the course of a day, almost everyone uses each and every part of their brain, just not all at the same time.

thats what i meant kakkarot. use 100% of the brain at all times. have u ever seen the movie Phenomenon? Though its a good idea i don't believe it even comes close to what we would be capable of if we used 100% of our brains at all times. Then again i don't think in the movie he was using all of his brain either. but oh well

Tom

If you can find a way to make practical use out of doing every possible thing at the same time, good. I can only do one or two things at a time but do not consider this a limitation.

I dont think using more of your mind means doing a bunch of things at once.  I expect it would lead to seeing and experiencing what you're doing using more of your brain so that would lead to a differnt perspective or more understanding.

why would it mean you suddenly have to do 20 things at once.. I dont think using more of your brain would lead to ADHD.

Hephaestus

I was always under the impression the whole 10% thing was that we use 10% of our brain to do things like move, smell, taste, work things out in our heads etc and the other 90% was simply used as memory storage and is inactive until we attempt to retrieve the information.

goingslow

I get the feeling no one's getting the whole percentage of the brain thing right.  I know we dont use all of it during the course of a day. Im also dont think 90 percent of it isn't dedicated to memory and the rest to basic skills.
But I know we dont activate certain parts unless we think in a different way.

Then there's degress.  Just using a portion of your brain by being creative a little isn't using that part 100 percent.  Some areas you may just touch on.. its too complicated to break down in 10 percent for this 10 for that.  Because in that 10 percent you  may only be using 5 percent of that section's potential.

Tom

The sections of the brains are very specialized. That is why they only do limited things and get called on to do those things. Memories are scattered around through the entire nervous system, not just the brain. So again, I ask how many things you really want to be doing at once. The back of the brain does eyes and breathing. The maintenance functions of the body require a lot of the nervous system. It is not just the brain where we do our thinking.

I was actually wondering Tom if what we do in Astral regi is something we do with our Spirit and not with our actual brain. ? It seems to me that the brain in some ways hold us back rather than aid us in our quest. In the bible it talks about Jesus walking on the water and calling Peter who started walking on the water too (not unlike what you do in a OBE ) then it says "when he saw the wind and waves he started to sink" in other words his brain told him "Hej there Pete look down see those waves this just ain't possible you cant do that it cant be done" and Peter said "Ohhh look at that ...wow youre right I should be sinking oops   ...I am sinking"   and Jesus reached out and grabbed him. It is my experience that if I try too hard to understand things with my mind rather than feel and trust my instinct I make most of my big mistakes. The battleground seem to be in the mind(brain) and maybe an increased brain activity is a disadvantage?. Maybe our Spirit thinks with something other than a brain. Maybe a brain is more like a radio reciever that has to be tuned to the right signal.Maybe the signal is what tells us what to do. If we are tuned to the right station. Just a thought

Words.....there was a time when I believed in words!

I think our "breathing" part of the brain is actually along with another function.  Like controlling body movements since you dont have to think about breathing.  But you can work to stop breathing for a short time.

Most of our brain isn't dedicated to physical mobility and there is a section for memory. Its happened during accidents a person will lose all memory when this site is affected or not be able to create new ones.

kakkarot

actually tom, that thing about specialized functions of the brain reminded me about a study.

it has been found that men's brains specialize in areas, whereas women's brains generalize. ie, men find it easier to pick a few tasks and get REALLY good at them while women have an easier time doing lots of things better than average.

it explains why men did the "hunting and gathering" while women did all the chores around the village/house in older times. but with convenience as it is now, anyone can do anything (pretty much) [:D]. even talk for long times without really saying anything [8D].

Tom

There have been stories of people who learned to meditate and then had injuries to the brain. Their experiences showed that the brain is more of a tool to focus the mind, like light throw a lens. Then there is astral projection itself, where we continue to function while the physical brain is in another place.

Um, *shivers at that thought*
I would think using 100% of the brain at once would be like overclocking the computer.  Runs great for a very short while, then everything fries.  That in itself is probably the reason why it's not used all at once.

-SoulWolf Pathwalker, aka Spirit

Who has enough mental troubles without trying to overclock it, thank you very much [:D]

I think its possible a person would go crazy.  I agree with one thing this world isnt meant for a person to use so much of their brain.  Ive heard of really realy intelligent people going crazy.

whats that saying about genius and madness?

Hello,

Wouldn't the Hemi/Holo Sync work with this?  The guy from Centerpointe says it allows the whole-brain thinking, or how he calls it, "Thinking in Stereo". But I don't know off hand by experience.  Wouldn't the creation of new brain pathways also induce the apperance of kineses as well? I would aslo want to think that the "stereo thinking" would make the visualization and the use of ki/chi/psi much easier.  Anyway, just wanted to input on this....

sloppyjoe42

this does have much to do with energy work, i was just thinkin about this last night. You know how we all use about 10% of or brain (i'm sure it varies a bit depending on the person bt 10 is the average). Even though it only 10% we are still able to focus our energy for many things ex.: breaking in martial arts, psi balls, telekenisis, and so many other things. Well just think what we would be capable of if we ever learned how to use the entire brain. We would be able to to some amazing things. then agian i'm glad we haven't discovered how to use 100% of out brains. There are some many idiots out there they'd prolly kill us all if they had that kind of power.

What do you think?
