Magnets and energy

Hello, I've been reading a lot about magnets lately and I've been reading on a site about a particular individual who claims that ceramic magnets if properly placed on the body can increase chi. Has anybody done any experimentation with this? I don't understand magnets, I realize there is a North and South side to every magnet? Is that correct? Edjumacate me please.

Hi!
I think that high quality neodymium magnets are much better for this. Such kind of magnets are placed inside hard drives and CD-ROM drives to move the head/laser. I've used them successfully to stimulate energy body, but they can quickly damage energy body(to the point of feeling sharp pain) when placed incorrectly(wrong polarization).

I've been reading up a lot on magnets lately and have used some on myself and my family.  The north pole magnet is what you want to use most or all of the time.  The north pole decreases inflammation, brings oxygen to the area, relieves pain, some claim it can even disperses tumors.  On the other hand, it seems the south pole does the opposite, it increases pain, can cause a tumor to grow, etc.
Magnets have definitely relieved pain in my family.  The gauss strength is important, the higher it is the better it works.  It cleared up my husband's sciatica problem in a day after he had it for several weeks.  It also stopped my daughter's seizure as soon as I applied it (heavy duty strength).   The folllowing is an article from a Dr. who is well-known for his work with magnets.  He talks about magnets increasing chi.  I hope you find this interesting.

Miracle of Magnetics

The human body floats in a sea of magnetic fields - those of the earth, moon, sun, and other galactic fields. The body is full of magnetic materials. Every cell and atom of the body is a small magnetic dynamo. The body's fields, which are very tiny, are measured in devices called SQUIDS. The earth's field is 100,000 times or more stronger than the body's! We are so dependent on the earth's fields that astronauts in space for long periods require artificial magnetic fields to maintain health.

Magnetic fields penetrate the body as if it were air. Nothing in the body stands in the way of a magnetic field. The body is 70% or more water, which doesn't reduce or block magnetic fields. A strong magnet held on one side of the hand can easily deflect a compass needle on the other side of the same hand.

SQUIDS show that tissues exposed to magnets have enhanced magnetic signals afterward for some time. Various types of magnets produce these effects. They include permanent magnets, such as flat magnetic pads and electromagnets of various kinds, such as MRI machines and nerve conduction testing devices.

Some acupuncturists use permanent magnets because they are painless and allow treatment to continue after a visit. While a student in acupuncture, I was experimenting on myself with two of the most powerful acupuncture magnets available. In two separate trials, I felt an obvious buzzing sensation in my chest and abdomen. By chance I stimulated two acupuncture meridians! This proved that magnets significantly affect acupuncture points and meridians. I also worked with a physician friend who owns some sensitive electrical testing equipment. We were able to show that magnets increase the energy (chi) flow along a hand meridian. In my practice, I now frequently replace needles for magnets.

Magnetics act on the body in many ways:

They stimulate the acupuncture points and meridians. In this way, they can be used for all kinds of problems, especially for pain, fibromyalgia and muscle strains.
They work on red blood cells because they contain iron. I placed a round bullseye magnet on a nurse's knee bruise following a ski injury. The next morning she had a perfect bullseye pattern over her bruise!
Most people report warmth and gentle tingling under the magnets. Europeans have measured increased blood flow. Others have seen this on thermograms too.
They affect some chemical processes within and between cells. Chemists use sensitive magnetic equipment to measure simple and complex molecules. Researchers at Harvard found that salt water passes a membrane quicker with a magnetic field.
They can affect nerve signals. High strength magnets can cause anesthesia, through a principle in physics called the Hall effect. Dr. Robert Becker (author of Body Electric) put salamanders to sleep before surgery with electromagnets more safely than anesthetics. Magnets can stop epileptic seizures. They are also used to study and map nerve structures deep in the brain, normally only accessible during brain surgery.

I hope the above has helped to inform you about the exciting new field of biomagnetics which has great potential to help people. We are clearly seeing a new day in medical sciences and health care with the expanded awareness and use of complementary techniques of care.

So edumacate a dummy here, what do you mean by south pole magnets, vs. north pole? Are there two types of magnets. I saw some chinese guy selling magnets you wear on your fingers and on your feet (while you sleep).

If one wanted to increase energy flow and balance what would be the best way to go about doing this? I'd like to buy some magnets myself and use them as I don't have $150 for the chinese guys magnets. Any ideas?

No. every magnet has two poles. 150$ is a scam. Buy two damaged cd-rom drives, and take the magnets out of them. They should cost about 3$.

I've read alot about magnets but never about using them together the way that alex describes on www.alexchiu.com.  He has opposite sides of the polarity facing the skin on opposite sides of the finger.  It would almost seem like this would cancel each other out.  I don't know.  Or possibly this gives an altogether new effect.  But I wonder where he gets that information from?   He gives instructions on how to build your own.   But be careful, everything I've read is to use the NORTH pole against your skin ONLY, the south pole should only be used under certain, rare circumstances.  Personally I would not use the South side against my skin until I knew of a darn good reason to do so.  If you go under www.biomagnetic.org then under Biomagnetic research clinic, then under effects of different magnetic fields, you'll see their experiement with bread.  The south pole made the bread grow moldy much faster, the north pole kept the bread from getting moldy much longer.

There's a book on amazon.com called "the practical guide to magnet therapy" and talks about what meridians to use to place magnets for different health effects.  It's cheaper if you buy it used.

Another interesting website is www.chipower.com which talks about magnets and increasing chi.  There's an article about it, but to buy the information is somewhere over $100.

I still don't understand how the magnet works. Magnets have a (+) and negative (-) side right? so If I'm lying down, my feet facing north, how would I place a magnet say on my chest?

1. you got a body, top = head, bottom = feet
2. You got the Earth with North and South pole
3. you got a magnet with a (+) side and a (-) side

Now what?

Now you should use compass to find out where's North and South side of a magnet. The South of compass needle points to north of magnet.

Wrong. Magnets ARE (static) electricity. The force of magnets and electricity is the same. The average position of electrons and average position of protons in the magnet are different by about 10%  of an atom's width. I could be wrong up to 10x bigger or smaller on that, i'm no chemist. Big force for such a small distance!

How to determine
the sides of a magnet

Here are three methods to determine which side of a magnet is which:

The safest and most accurate method is to use our Magneto Meter gauge. This will allow you to easily determine both the healing north pole energies and the potentially dangerous south pole energies.

Using a compass  

The side of the magnet which is attracted to the needle point that points to the north pole of the earth is the healing north pole energy.


Caution

Make sure your compass is reading correctly by testing it outdoors and away from any metal (above or below ground).

Also, a magnet near a compass can easily result in a flip of the magnet needle's normal polarity. If this occurs, the normal North pole painted end of the needle points to the South pole of the earth.

In any event, be sure that the needle side that is actually pointing to the earth's North Pole is the end that is the one noted as attracting (pointing to) the healing North Pole energies of a magnet.


Using a thread  



Carefully affix a thread to the center of a magnet, so that the two poles can spin freely, the side of the magnet which faces the south pole of the earth has the healing north pole energy.

This whole thing seems like too much work. I'm just gonna get a huge ceramic 5lb magnet and lay it on my chest when I sleep. If I wake up feeling like hell, I'll switch it around the next night What could be easier than that?

Like I said, the easiest things to do is to buy magnets that are already marked north and south.  Good Luck.  I can't answer any of the speaker or any technical questions.  Just trying to help with the things I know.

Be careful with those hard drive magnets you guys!
I love to play with magnets, and have given myself plenty of blood blisters with those things when they slam together and catch my skin in between.

Keep them away from magnetic media such as tapes, credit cards, etc, and don't get too close to your hard drive with them.

I was playing around once with putting one near a monitor to make a pretty magenta spot on the screen. The problem with that was that the internal degausser wouldn't make it go away like I thought it would. I had to make a beefier degausser out of a nut driver, a spool of wire and a variac. So my advice is keep these things away from the computer altogether!
