I am Christian, and I strongly belive in my religion.  There is nothing in Christianity that opposes the use of ki, for it is only a source of energy, not a replacement for god, or the holy spirit.

ss_majin_gohan

I like the way you think Monk Man, [:D] I am a Christian too, and I also strongly believe in God! I train in ki too! I am just wondering everyone elses opinions![8D][8D][8D]

Tom

Personally, I do not believe in God. However, if you believe in God as a Christian then you believe that God created both people and ki. It would be an advantage to see ki as a gift from God that you must learn to use and cultivate. When you want more ki you have someone to ask to give it to you, under any circumstances. A person I know of went farther, saying that the "Lord's Prayer" that Jesus taught was a lesson in using energy.

Well I dont think that any prayer in Christianity is meant for motivation, or an energy raise in your ki, but im sure that in some cases people can use their prayers as a way of helping them with their ki. Although many beliefs involving ki can be very different from the beliefs in christianity, one can still find many simiallarities between the two. If you are serious and emotional about your prayers, than it can act as a gateway to unlocking the energy you may or may not have been able to use.

Tom

Jesus Christ performed miracles, used prayer with God, and sent down the Holy Spirit. He told his followers to accomplish miracles in his name and they would do better things than he did. When I consider Christianity, I try to imagine what Jesus taught rather than the entity surrounding me.

Squeek

I am a heavy beleiver in the Catholic religion.  I partake in a youth group for it, but I have yetto bring up this topic, nor will I ever...

Anyways, I had it summed up for me pretty well on another site somewhere...But one thing I've kinda wanted to post for a while was an odd little painting on a wall in a room at the rectory at a church.  It has Jesus on the cross with two orbs emitting from his hands pointing towards the sky. This particular picture is featured twice in the building, and guess what I thought the first time I saw it :D

As you can see my beleif is that God created everything, so he created this as well. We just had to tap into the hidden parts of our brains to access it.  It will be an amazing day when the other 90% is revealed to us.

Ss_majin_gohan,
I would advise caution in speaking to other christians around you of this. The christians that are on this forum have a more open mind than many. Many christians are completely closed minded to spiritual concepts that are outside of christian doctorine, and you might end up finding yourself being prayed over to be released of the influences of the devil. This has happened to me.

I no longer class myself as a christian as personal experiences have changed the way I view my beliefs. I did however spend 16 years as a christian in a few different churches, and found that the general christian dogma that is preached, as opposed to the words of Jesus himself, tend to be strongly opposed to any "religious" views, especially eastern philosophies when it comes to matters like this.

My views agree with Tom's. All energy come from the one source. Most disagreements that churches have with concepts such as ki or chi come from the terminology and origin of that terminology. To completely deny them would be to deny similar things but with different names that appear in the bible. Many of the "gifts of the spirit" can be translated into terms used by eastern and new-age philosophies.

James.

Well, one time I was doing research on ki and it's other names, and I found multiple places that said that in Hebrew or something like that, it was refered to as "The Breath of Life", and I was thinking about the creation in the Bible, and about how it says how He blew into the dust the breath of life or something like that, so I though that it might mean that He put ki into man! [:D][8D][:D][8D]

ss_majin_gohan

I am sorry to hear that James, however, I am going to stay in my Christian walk AND train in ki. Really, I think that ki is a gift from God, I mean, who is to say that does not give people gifts like this? I believe that there are gifts from God, such as: Ki, Telekinesis, Pyrokinesis, oh heck, all of the kinesis things! And then there are things that I believe are NOT gifts, like Wicca, because there is nothing mentioned in the Bible about kinesis being bad, however, there are things mentioned in the Bible about Witchcraft! THAT is what I believe![:D]

BagelGod

Well, I am a Pieest, so i dont think it is my place to talk here. But my religion fully supports it, much of anything you do. I dont think many christians though, would be to accepting of this. Probably because they dont understand what they see, and try to come up with a rational(to them atleast) explanation. So ki with christianity doesnt seem to mix too well. Good luck trying to maintain both. I have a feeling that one will be pushed to the side.[8]

ss_majin_gohan

Exactly, they wouldn't aprove of it most likely because they don't understand it, and the first thing that comes to mind is "Work of the Devil!" so that is why most wouldn't aprove! Although I have read into MANY sites, and I have not found ONE that said it is Satan's work, although, alot of them I found said "I am a Christian and I train in it!"

goingslow

Theres a big difference between people who are Christian on ki sites saying they do ki and they're Christian and the actual faith and church.

Of course if they're on a site with it they dont think its the work of the devil.. i think most people were saying if you were to bring it up to your pastor or churchmembers they wouldnt be too open to it.

Some understand it in a way and believe it exists, but believe people shouldnt toy with it.  Ive heard some outright say pschic mediums are doing the devil's work.  I think they're afraid of false prophets or whatever.

If you really want to know what christians think of it go to a christian site and ask.  NOt a ki site that has christians on it.   Plus one or two people dont represent the church.

kakkarot

"Thou shalt have no other god before Me."

well, unless you "worship" energy as though it were a god (in the same manner that some do for money or sex or whatever else), then christians should have no problem with it.

as long as you know who God is, are striving to know Him, and are still doing His will, then He should have no problem with it. unless He specifically doesn't want you to use it, in which case i'm sure He'd let you know [;)].

~kakkarot

Shaolin Monk

Just to let you know, most Christians have their beliefes based off pure faith and hope, not facts. Many of them are not looking for a plausable or logical reason for anything. Everything on this earth, in their opinion, is just another part of the mysteries of god. If they truly believed that god created everything, they would not put down something so quickly considering they most likely do not know much about it.

Also I would like to state that being able to use and controll ki may be rare in the percentage of people able to do this, but know that you are only reaching a small portion of your body's true potential. We know so little of what we are actually capable of, and we probably will never know. Again faith keeps you running, so never give up looking for the truth in life.

ss_majin_gohan

I dunno what you mean by a "Cloudwatcher" or a "Necromacer", but I have never seen anything against ki in the Bible, pod![:D] I just might do that Goingslow! Thanx for the suggestion! Awesome point Kakkarot! That is EXACTLY what I was thinking! I mean, I have prayed to God that if he has anything against my training in it, that he would stop my growth in ki, and I have kept growing in it![:D]

James S

That's probably the best thing you can do - go to the Source for your answers.

My spiritual path as a christian came to an end NOT because I stopped believing in God or Jesus, but because my own personal encounters with the spirit world gave me a different perspective than what I was getting from the church. A close friend of mine had his faith in christianity strengthened because he had a spiritual encounter that brought him closer to the teachings of his church. We have spoken of our experiences to each other, and both agree that it is all good, because we have both grown spiritually as a result.

We all have our own paths to walk, it's a very personal thing. That path should not be dictated by what other people around you tell you what is right or wrong, or indeed what the religious texts (which were, after all, written by people who had their own opinions) tell you is right or wrong. The path should be guided by your own beliefs, and your personal relationship with God or the spirits that are guiding you.

James.

First off the word Christian can mean a many thing.  I would consider myself christian as I believe in Christ as my lord and savior.  That I know, is all I must care about.

As far as psychics and so forth go, I wouldn't say its the work of the devil.  what would you call prophets?  Plus i know for a fact there are people out there that have clairvoyance, or they have some piece of psychic in them.  I do at times and I have friends that do.  That is something that can't be helped, and is something we are born with.

I just stick to the belief that humans have a large brain.  We were given that be be able to do more then any creature around us.  We unfortunately, according to science, do not use all that much of it BUT it is a possibility that some of us use more of a certain part of it, hence, psychic.

There is alot more to the human mind then most people are willing to give it.  I for one am striving for the answers myself, as my parents, church and the bible to not shed much light on this.

We are capable of so much more.......

Squeek

the word "Christian" means beleiver in Christ. that's all.  Seriously. all.

ss_majin_gohan

[:D]Yes, I think that all that matters is that my walk with God keeps going in the right direction! If ki was really wrong, then my walk with God would be hindered in my opinion! I am really surprised with how many Christians really train in ki, this is SUCH an awesome topic![:D][:D][:D]

Shaolin Monk

Also to add, if using ki truly was an evil practice, but in your heart of hearts you felt it wasn't or didn't know it was, then god would not consider it a wrong act.

Hey, don't worry.

Electricity used to be the devil.

Not anymore. (Or is it?)

I thought the same thing! Just how you are in your inossence in God's eyes intil you are old enough to actually understand Him at all. It is kinda like, you know, you don't know what you are doing is wrong.

ss_majin_gohan

I wanted to know everyone's thoughts on Ki training and Christians, because I have heard that only etheists train in ki, and I have heard from OTHERS that you can be a Christian and train in ki at the same time!
