Mib,

If I understand your post correctly, are you asking if your psychic abilities will be enhanced by practicing "Reiki"?   The answer is that it depends entirely upon the individual.  Any time you work with energy, you open your channels.  The more you work and practice opening them, the easier it is to pick up other energies.

In Japanese Usui Reiki Ryoho, Sensei Usui began his daily teachings with "Hatsurei Ho".  They were excersizes or empowerments for calling in the energy.  These excersizes were designed so the students could get a "feel" for the energy and distinguish the difference among them.  Along with meditation, one could raise awareness and increase intuition. (a nice little perk to self healing :)

As a Reiki Master, I have noticed an increase in my intuitive abilities.  Although I have a dear friend who has been practicing longer than I and is quite frustrated with her progress.  Its clearly up to the individual and your ability to open and channel the energy.

Although invoking the aid of guides is not an eastern Reiki practice,  Japanese People, whatever their religious affiliation do pray to, consult, invoke, invite Shoten Zenzin, the "Protective spirits of the Universe" in exactly the same kind of ways that Westerners work with, invoke, pray to, the guardians, Angels, guides etc.

In western Reiki, its now a common belief, (not an Usui teaching)that when we are attuned, we are given a guide to help facilitate the energy.  It is purely a personal choice if you choose to acknowledge and work with them. I have called upon my guide many times, especially late at night when I'm sending distantly and too tired to keep it up.  I simply ask that the energy be sent to (name) for as along as needed.  Also if the energy is not accepted or refused by (name) then I ask my guide to send it to someone in need. You can call upon them as you would any other guide.  When I do  treatments, I usually ask for guidance as to hand placements and chakra balancing.  I personally use crystals/stones during a treatment and ask for guidance in choosing the appropriate stone.  The possibilities are endless!

Thank you for the information that was posted.  But I guess I didn't state my questions clearly.

I have been on the Reiki path.  I was attuned (levels I and II) in Reiki-Seichim.  My teacher was a Westernern and a clairvoyant.  She spoke to me specifically about my healing guides and I have, on many occasions, felt my healing guides and I've met with them in dreams.  She also spoke about general Reiki guides, high level guides that work with the Reiki energy and help Reiki practitioners.

Also, the way I was taught to perform Reiki was by drawing the healing energy down through my Crown chakra, through my main channel and out my hands.  Or rather, I was taught to let the energy flow this way.  And the attunement, as I understand it--I'm not a Reiki master--does make changes to the Crown and hand chakras.

So what I'm curious about the relation of performing Reiki and
channeling (I mean, trancemedium channeling).  As a developing clairvoyant myself, I haven't seen all the energybody channels with clarity.  But I understand that the "channeling"  channels are connected to the Crown chakra.

I am actually concerned about maintaining my spiritual seniority when I perform healing, and though I have appreciated the help of my guides, I don't wish them to plug into me without my being aware of it.  Sometimes my experience of Reiki has been very ungrounding.  It is a high vibration and I suspect that the vibration (in the room, in my aura) is hiked by the presence of guides that I may not be sensing.

I'm not worried of being taken advantage of in any way, but the type of focus on my path right now is on grounding, coming into the body, validating the lower vibration of the body and being okay with it.  Reiki, in my experience, tends to be a higher spectrum energy--so I'm looking to amend my agreement with it, or find a way to practice it that doesn't have the "floaty" effect.

That's it in a nutshell.  I would appreciate any insight you all have to offer.

Hi,

Trance Mediumship is a fascinating and very interesting subject. I have a modicum of experience with both trance for spoken communication and for trance healing. There are various good sources on the web, try http://www.fst.org/trance.htm for a nutshell explanation. If you want to go a little deeper and explore for instance other trance states like physical Mediumship see: http://www.noahsarksoc.co.uk/

The work of Jane Roberts is a good example of a truly gifted trance medium without the trappings of spiritualist ideology. There are more esoteric levels of trance out there, but that should give you a bit of food for thought!

Hope this helps,

Hello Dreamosis,

>>>So what I'm curious about the relation of performing Reiki and
channeling (I mean, trancemedium channeling). <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

The only relationship, (in my humble opinion) between "Reiki" and trance channeling is the way we draw in the energy.  Both flow down into the crown chakra. But apart from sharing that one similarity, Reiki" and T.C are like "apples to oranges".

The energy is drawn in the same way but "Reiki" continues to flow through the channels, down and out through the hand chakras.  Whereas, trance channeling energy flows down to the "third eye" chakra.  It is my belief that by practicing "Reiki" regularly, we open our channels more fully since it flows through more corresponding chakras.  Also, the energy itself is quite different. One is a healing energy designed for self and transmitting to others, while the other is direct telepathic energy from beings/spirits.

>>>>>I am actually concerned about maintaining my spiritual seniority when I perform healing, and though I have appreciated the help of my guides, I don't wish them to plug into me without my being aware of it. You NEVER have to worry about maintaining your "seniority", integrity, self, when practicing Reiki.  A guide will never, never, intervene if the situation doesn't warrant it.  They are only there IF you need the help.  And if this causes you to feel uncomfortable, simply ask them to come to your aid when you ask personally for their help.

As far as Reiki being a "high" vibration, it actually is considered one of the lower vibrations of the 7 rays.  There are 7 rays, in Japanese thought and "Rei" is the lowest of the "Ki's" or "Chi's".  If you are feeling a heightened vibration, you should definetly practice a grounding technique before doing self healing.

Can I share some personal info with you?  I hope you don't mind but it seems revelant to what you are asking.  I've been a practicing Master for 2 1/2 years, and the "feel" of the Reiki energy has been quite subtle in nature.  About a year ago, I was experiencing a dramatic change in the energy.  When I would lay my hands on my body, I would experience this incredible "rush" of energy, like a lightening bolt, throught my body.  This scared the "hell" out of me. I never before felt this energy, a total shaking of my body!  Something that I was totally unaccustomed to.  I alerted a friend of mine ( who is an intuitive ) to give me a reading.  Not disclosing any info as to what was happening ... she told me that I was channeling a "different" healing energy. That someone in the future would need this energy.  And that this energy was given to me now so I could acclimate it to my body. Through practice, my regular laying on of hands would adjust to this new energy.  Maybe, Dreamosis, you too are experiencing a higher healing energy than "Reiki".  Maybe you are also given this experience to feel a higher energy to help others. Can only comment on what I've experienced!

Wishing you Love and light!
Namaste"  Lil Iroguois

This "floatly" feeling may be due to the fact that you are overtly sensitive to the energy .... or maybe that you were given a higher level of healing energy that you will use in the future.

Keep progressing in your intuitive abilities, whether Reiki or trance channeling,

Lil' Iroquois...

Thanks for your insights.  I have been deciding whether or not to continue on the Reiki path.  My personal experience has been positive, moving, reassuring and (as I posted before) speckled with ungrounding experiences.

I do ground before I do Reiki and I find it helps immensely with the "floaty" feeling, but you reminded me that this is an important part of a Reiki feeling for me.

I'm currently Reiki II and considering mastership.  My Reiki master never spoke of the Seven Rays, or that "Rei" was the lowest (lowest in vibration) ray.  However, I have heard other Reiki pracitioners talk about Reiki as very close to earth energy.

But this hasn't been my experience.  Earth energy, that I run in meditation, and Reiki have always been very different.  They couldn't be more different it seems.  But I believe you're onto something when you say I could be tapping a different variety of healing energy that is special to me or my experience.

I didn't mention before, and probably should have, that the style of Reiki I was taught is called Reiki-Seichim.  It is a variation on the Reiki energy in that it is more "galactically-centered," of a higher vibration.  The Seichim information, and the altering of the symbols, was based on channeled (trancemedium) information from the 1970s.  A man named Tom Seaman, a trance channeler, founded this variation of Reiki.

My Reiki teacher, however, is now changing her teaching methods.  Over the last summer she met with a man (whose first name I forget) but whose name is Inamoto (spl) and after her time with him she began reassessing and looking at the Traditional Usui Reiki.

The whole business makes my head spin sometimes because they are so many sects.  What is important to me is the healing experience and not the interpretation of where it came from and why--though it's helpful information.

I do feel that I can trust the Reiki guides...Though they seem to have an effect on me whether I want it or not, if that makes any sense.  I mean, I'm usually very aware of their helping me with a treatment.  Occasionally their presence has felt semi-physical.  The experiences were wonderful in their own way AND, as I reflect, I realize that the loss of seniority I felt may have been simply crossing boundaries with energy-awareness and perception that put me into fear.  (Fear of growing...If there is such a thing.)

Also, thank you for risking to share your personal experience.  Intuitionally, the energy that made you shake seems to me like a running of angelic or divine healing energy.  I understand that this can be quite rough on the body.

A clairvoyant friend of mine had a healing once from a Filipino healer whose technique was a channel the Supreme Being and direct that energy.  He looked into and found out that those line of healers, though powerful, tend to have those kinds of experience with shaking and what not.

But thanks again...I'm going to digest...

Does anybody have any information or opinions on the possible trancemedium consequences of practicing Reiki?  Or information on the out-of-body Reiki guides that work with Reiki practitioners?
