Hello Curious girl
You have to do a few mental things to a spell also. You have to believe that you deserve what you are asking for in life. You have to have faith that it will happen. You also have to visualize what you want for the end results only. You never structure how to have the Good luck happen but only yourself receiving the good luck.
I have a few articles on this website that mention how magic works. Also some simple herbal magic. You might want to read them and see if they help. They are in the Magic section.

What you WANT is irrelevant. What you EXPECT is what causes things to happen.

Hi Curiousgirl,

I think I am having deja-vu!  You remind me of young girl that was on these very forums not too long ago...Spiritgurl..do you know her?  She had the same way of getting angry when she didn't receive the answer she was seeking...hmmmmmmm..[?]  You both would get better responses if you weren't so hostile in your speaking...
Oh, and sorry I have no answer for you...for I am sure whatever I say will not suffice.... just making a observation!

Hello curiousgirl, yes it is possible for a "good luck spell turn into a curse" ... it is entirely possible that your friend simply cast a curse on himself because deep down he didn't feel he deserved it or just expected it not to work. If this was his first attempt at magickal manipulations I can certainly see something like this happening but I would still encourage him to investigate further. If he is a good friend you may suggest him casting a simple luck spell for you. People often find it easier to wish the best for someone dear to them.

On the other hand it is also possible that it was all just a coincidence ... many spells require a fair amount of time to manifest. Perhaps his luck will change for the better soon [:)]

Anyways don't be frustrated ... I'm still pretty new here myself but I found the people here to be good and decent and I'm sure no one meant to upset you. [:)]

YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT SPELLS LIKE THEY ARE SOME-KIND-OF-TECHNIC! YOU CAN´T LEARN MAGIC WHILE WATCHING A TV! IN REAL MAGIC THERE ARE NO "SPELLS". STOP WATCHING TV, AND START READING SOME BOOKS.(I KNOW THAT IN AMERICA YOU DO NOT HAVE NONE, BUT IT IS A BIG COUNTRY! YOU EVEN HAVE THE GODDESS NU(STATUE OF LIBERTY) IN YOUR BACK-YARD!  NEXT TO THE MONTAUK PROJECT. AND IT ISN´T ARC OF NOAH, IT WAS THE ARC OF NU. GODDESS ABOVE CHAOS. DO YOU KNOW WHAT IS THE MOST POWERFULL "SPELL" IN MAGIC? NO? -IT IS ANALOGY!

curiousgirl

what are you talking about?  the information i was talking about was all completely from books!  here are some quotes from what i said above.

"does research through many books, to make sure that he's not getting in over his head and doing something that is not for everyone."

"and the books explained to him how magick works just like you mentioned.. he was aware of all these things! he did the research, and the books explained over and over how magick works! but none of the books mentioned that if you didn't do things quite right, you'd end up with a horrible evil curse!"

and i personally DON'T WATCH TV or movies at all.  all i do is read books!

and all the BOOKS referred to magick as spells, but they explained it was actually more like prayer, with all the extra stuff like equipment as merely being something to help you focus your energy.  the equipment and all that are simply symbols of things that are meaningful to you.

and like i said, my friend did not feel he was unworthy, and he was pretty convinced that his attempt would work... he was impressed by the things that were said about wicca, he agreed with a lot of its beliefs, and felt quite inspired by all that he READ.  so why didn't the BOOKS warn him that if he didn't totally perfectly believe, or if he didn't totally feel worthy, that he'd end up with evil results?  the books were very positive about anyone wanting to get involved, and included visualisation tips, and advice on meditation, and all kinds of positive things.

do you think that perhaps all the BOOKS out about wicca nowadays are misleading?  perhaps a lot of these wiccan authors are foolish for getting the masses involved?  i see so many new books out about wicca and spell-casting, and there are LOTS aimed at teens!  could there be a lot of people out there inadvertently screwing up their lives with these books full of bad advice & misinformation?  this is all so confusing.  [V]

anyway, the main thing we picked up on looking through the various sources is that if you don't believe enough, or don't feel worthy enough, or something like that, that the spell would just simply not work, not turn on you and ruin your life (or ruin someone else's by taking their life!).  and this is the same information i managed to get out of someone who claimed to be a wiccan elder...  that the spell wouldn't have worked if he didn't do it properly, and it was probably just a coincidence.

if i'm here just to get put down, then i guess maybe i should just forget about the whole thing.  i'll just write the whole thing off as "it's his fault, he killed his family member through his foolish involvement in a religion that is supposedly for everyone, and for trying a "spell" that was assured as being harmless."

curiousgirl

oh, and by the way, grigori, thanks for your input and kind words... [:)]

-I AGREE WITH YOU IN THAT POINT, COMPLETLEY!
I SAID YOU ARE A TV-CONSUMER, BECAUSE YOU TALK LIKE A CONSUMER,
YOU THINK LIKE AN CONSUMER, AND THAT´S EXACTLY WHAT ARE THEY COUNTING ON! YOUR NAIVE IMAGINATION AND INTERPRETATION THEY HAVE GIVEN YOU TO CONSUME, TO BE A SIMPLE CONSUMER!
JUST LIKE MOST OF THE GUYS FROM MAGIC FORUM!
IF YOU DO NOT KNOW THE ESSENCE OF SOMETHING, LET´S SAY GUNS,
(THAT IS TO SHOOT AT SOMETHING, AND ESPECIALY PEOPLE!)
OR TRY TO FIND THE ESSENCE IN YOUR PRACTICE, DO-NOT PRACTICE IT!
THAT´S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WHITE MAGIC AND A BLACK-CON-ART!
PURPOSE.
HAVE YOU NOTICED, NOBODY IS MIXING MAGIC WITH ZEN,
BUT THEY ARE MIXING IT WITH EVERYTHING.(JUST LIKE AN BIG HAMBURGER!)

I WILL TELL YOU THE DIFFERENCE BETWEN CONSUMER(SHEEP) AND A MAGE:
THE MAGE THOSE NOT SAY THAT HE, AS A MAGICAL BE-IN-G IS PRACTISING MAGIC. EVER!
<THAT´S THE ESSENCE OF HIS BEING!>
THE CONSUMER ALWAYS WRITES MAGICK, SO YOU WOULD NOT MISTAKEN HIM FOR A DAVID COPERFIELD.

Ummmmm... to use a line that Tisha used once..(I loved it by the way)

Apophis, see that key to the left on your keyboard, Caps Lock?...Hit it..[:P]

Thanks...[:D]

Apophis,

Just to back up what Nay has just said, in case you are not aware, using upper case in your posts or emails indicates that you are shouting. So please turn your caps lock key off...we're not deaf.[:)]

James.

curiousgirl

i apologize, apophis.  my friend and i were exploring spiritual paths, and we were ignorant of the truth about wiccan/magickal practices.  we did what research we could, and is it really our fault if all the sources we found were misguiding?  i am just as disgusted with american consumerism as you are, but the only real sources we have for information are the books at the local library.  sources on the internet are all pretty much questionable for reliability, so we didn't want to resort to that.  and we are kind of in the middle of the baptist bible belt... not many wiccans that we can talk to personally that we know of.  it was all a horrible mistake, and the lesson was learned in a not so subtle way, and we will explore other spiritual paths that are aimed more for weak, pathetic, tv-watching zombies like ourselves.  thank you for your input.

perhaps you are wright, curiousgirl!
anyway, if you want, I will send you whatever you want to read and to practise if you specified me the direction of your development.
but read Crowley. he´s available. especialy MAGIC(K perhaps is in America politicaly correct) in theory.
and in that book you could read at least what are you faced upon.
the road of a witch is not today so diferent from a road of a ritualman, the woman not being able today to use her UTHERUS, as long time before, even choosing not to get birth, or what to give birth to! or to kill with the voice of her´s UTHERUS.
I guess you would have to watch planet DUNE a little bit carefully this time, that film with Sting being the "good"-guy,
or to read that book on that planet where those women-priestess are, of the same author.
and, for the ORATORIUM, you see, I AM! not shouting. I C. that the little letters are insignificant, and the capslocked are what matters. but I will lower the letters for your health´s sake.
thank you!

curiousgirl

ok, just to repeat myself... I AM NOT SPIRITGURL.  i'm sorry i gave everyone that impression... i didn't mean to sound like a b*tch or anything, i just kinda freaked out.  see, i've been asking my questions in other places than this, and i have been having such a horrible time!  i've been quite shocked at the amount of hostility my questions have gotten when i've talked to people in chats and stuff.  i've either been ignored, given answers that avoid my questions, RIDICULED, INSULTED, and one girl even KICKED ME OUT OF HER CHATROOM when i began asking questions that delved even deeper into her answers (her reason given:  "GOD YOU ANNOY ME").  i've been really polite in all of these situations (i swear it!  i usually don't react this way... i'm nice 99.9% of the time!  this is an unusual circumstance!), and I just came to these people for their opinions, but i've been treated like i'm either stark-raving mad or a complete idiot (i've been called all kinds of names).  i was so shocked and hurt by these responses, because i'm new to all this and don't know much, and i thought my questions were valid, but everyone has treated me like they were the dumbest questions on earth.  and then i decided to try this place, figuring people would be more helpful and give me some real responses... i truly wanted to hear other people's opinions on this matter.  when i posted it, and i got some answers that seemed to avoid what i was asking, i kinda freaked out and figured that that whole nightmare was happening over again.  i truly apologize if i seemed hostile and rude... i was just so frustrated and i kinda over-reacted because of my past experiences, and i was so tired of being treated so horribly.  i finally did get some helpful answers out of some kind people, though, which was so refreshing! [^]  i guess i just kept running across the wrong kind of people, and i got a little too emotional.  i hope everyone can forgive me.  and i swear to you, i really am not spiritgurl!

anyway, as for casting magic, after this whole ordeal and talking to the various people, and thinking about everyone's reactions, and comparing notes from books i've read about other magickal practices, i've come up with my own opinions and ideas about magic (which was basically my goal... to see everyone's various responses, and think them over in my head and try to make sense out of it, and if it doesn't seem to make sense to me, try to come up w/my own conclusions).  while i agree with a lot of the ideas, there are some ideas i don't agree with.  a lot of the people i talked to were very... dogmatic about everything, and the more dogmatic people get, the more rebellious my mind gets, and i keep questioning whether these things seem to make sense or not.  while i believe in a lot of these spiritual/magickal/paranormal/mysterious/etc. things, i still try to keep a critical mind about it all, and not get sucked into any one set of beliefs.  i'm kinda going around gleaning what info i can from the various things, and come up with my own ideas.  oops i'm rambling.  anyway, i don't think i need anymore books on magic... i've kinda got a different path i'm going down... magickal, but in my own way.  and my friend and i have been bouncing these ideas back and forth.  well, thanks for putting up w/me, everyone! [:D]

I am wondering why you keep saying this?? Have I missed something? I was the only one whom thought you were and you said NO..and I dropped it.  If you are not spiritgurl then there is no reason for you to keep protesting the fact..  It only makes me start thinking that perhaps you are..hehehe..
And ya know what.. It wouldn't matter if you were, it seems you have matured and not out for a "good argument"...
The only problem I would have is if you were and you are "swearing" you aren't...that kind of deceit is bad news..
Well, seems I am off topic yet again..

Nay. [;)]

curiousgirl

haha.. well, i repeated it because i got a private message from peaceful warrior... he was assuming i was spiritgurl, too, and welcomed me back, and warned me to be good this time... so i figured i'd reassure anyone who still had doubts.  anyway, if you still have doubts, well, it seems like you guys have a way of checking IP addresses...  i doubt i'm living in the same area as spiritgurl.... i hope.

oh, and can anyone tell me why my questions seemed to upset/annoy/enrage a lot of people?  is it really THAT dumb of a question?  be honest!  any ideas?  i really didn't mean to offend all those people.  thanks!

Ya know I was really surprised at your responses too ... not that I'm all that fond of Astrology ... but maybe there is something to that Mars thang[:P]

Anyways, I'm glad you found some peace with your magickal quandries for a while there you were sounding a bit frazzled.

Best of Luck to you!
G

curiousgirl

haha, frazzled doesn't even begin to describe it... anyway, thanks!

ok, here's a situation:  let's say this person is curious about magick, and does research through many books, to make sure that he's not getting in over his head and doing something that is not for everyone.  he learns from various sources that magick:  is basically like prayer, that anyone can do it, and that it is mainly your intent that powers it... the materials used and all that aren't totally necessary, they just help you focus.  the books sound very positive toward anyone wanting to get involved (they are aimed at people who are new to the magick/wicca stuff), and contain simple, positive, harmless spells for beginners.  he learns about the 3-fold law and that as long as your spell is not harmful to anyone, and you remember to include in your thoughts that the spell should be for the good of all who may be involved, things should be ok. and he learns that spells should not be used for controlling others or for greedy, selfish motives.  the person decides to give it a try, since wicca sounds very positive & spiritual, and in touch with nature and he would like to try a spell and see if it works.  he decides to try a spell for better luck, since he tends to have not such great luck.  he finds a simple spell, where you light a candle at each direction of the compass, and say a "prayer" at each point.  the very next day, his luck goes totally downhill.  his house gets flooded while no one's home from a broken pipe under the sink, and a few days later a family member dies a very sudden, unpredictable death, and there's no improvement of his crappy luck in sight.
is this just mere coincidence, or did something go horribly wrong w/the spell?  was it possible for things to get twisted around into something horrible, and a spell for good luck got changed into a curse?  is it possible that some negative spirits could have stepped in and ruined things?  or is it a karma thing?  or could there be something wrong with this person spiritually that could have tainted his attempt?  or maybe he's being punished?  cursed by someone else?  now, i know that sometimes when bad things happen, sometimes it turns out for the best.  but nothing good that could happen could ever be good enough to make up for the death of a loved one.  was this just one big case of pure coincidence, or what?  he kind of feels that it may not have been his fault, but he still gets kind of worried that maybe something did go wrong.  needless to say, this person is afraid to touch another magick spell again!
