Binding Someone

Hi all,

I've been pondering this issue of late and thought I would put it to you all for feedback.  If there is someone whom you know is doing bad things to others on purpose, is it wrong to bind them and stop them?

You see, I know it would be positive to stop them from doing the damage they are to those they are directing their ill intent towards (and it is more than one person).  However I also understand that this would be manipulating this person that I would be binding.

Any thoughts/ideas would be greatly appreciated!!

Hi WOL,

This is one of the really important precepts I learnt when first studying witchcraft. It's all to do with exhanges of energy and the "three fold law".

To bind someone requires energy. In order to keep them bound basically requires you to remain energetically bound to them, effectively binding yourself. The three fold law implies that you will remain far more bound yourself.

The best course of action is through positive affirmations. Consider what would be the most positive outcome for the situation, both for you and the other person, and manifest that outcome.

Using the affirmation that a person will "do no harm to others or themselves" is a commonly used principal, but as you have correctly guessed, it is still a form of binding, and it will expend energy on your behalf, even though it seems like a positive thing.

Using the affirmation that a person will "do good for others and themselves" is the positive flipside of "do no harm", and requires little to no energy to maintain as it is a self perpetuation and reinforcing manifestation.

Blessings,
James.

My thoughts have been more to help with protection of those whom I know are getting hurt, and I can see how I would be energetically tied to this person if I decided to do the binding, but what if there are others that are being hurt/manipulated by this person, whom I am unaware of?

At the same token, I can also understand that perhaps this is part of their karma, something they need to experience for some reason currently unable to be comprehended.  Normally I wouldn't even consider binding, but for some reason it keeps cropping up into my thoughts, so I thought I must need to explore this issue!

More thoughts/comments are welcome please

I see what you're getting at.

I still believe the positive affirmation that I mentioned is the best long term solution, but if you are willing to put a bit more direct energy towards a more immediate solution, then work along the lines of manifesting that this person be harmless to all, and all be protected from their harm. I know its only a slight change in the wording from "do no harm", but remember the Universe is very literal.

Trying to stop someone from doing something is where all the energy expenditure and negative ties come.  "Be harmless" is a statement of being rather than doing. It isn't really a form of binding, as you're not trying to stop them from doing anything, but it is saying that any ill intent this person has towards others will be ineffective.

The second bit, the protection, is always available to us and others if we ask for it.

How does that sound?

Blessings,
James.

Apart from intent and affirmation, getting hold of and slipping a bit of flourite, or better - black tourmaline, to those being affected (if it's possible) will help greatly with the protection.

In the long term, I guess what your saying would be OK.  But I am looking in the short term, and therefore definitely need to help with some protection, for health and sanity sake.

And yes, black tourmaline is always one of my crystals I advise to carry to assist such protection.

Up here, someone breaks into your home, you shoot them.  Someone breaks into your neighbors home, you call the troopers.

I think the same principle applies to matters metaphysical.
