I have just started reading this and am convinced that after the first 10 pages that this goes up there with the Freedom of Choice as a must have if you are interested in spiritual ideas, and for anyone who wants an interesting read.  Thanks Adrian for giving us all access to so many wonderful sources of information in one place.

Hi Adrian,

Today I did order The Kybalion book from Amazon, along with several others you recommended. I was planning on reading this work first in order to get an overview of the philosohy. What I can do now (thanks to the link) is start out reading the ebook until the hard copy arrives.

(As my wife and I will be leaving Sunday on a little trip to Arizona the laptop computer will be my link here (as well my ebook reader).) Thanks.

Greetings,

Just finished the book. Very nice work indeed!
So far no questions.
Maybe I studied Hermetics in my previous life? :)

~Knowledge, like Wealth, is intended to Use~ The Kybalion.
Well we`ll follow the advice.

Thank you Adrian.

Greetings,

The higher the degree of rate of vibration, the
higher the plane, and the higher the manifestation of Life occupying that plane

Does it means, that our ability as M-D beigns  to expands our presence, towards greater number of dimensions is related to a plane we are occupying?

Osiris.

I was told that one of the "three initiates" who wrote the kybalion was Paul Foster Case.  One of the other two was Wlm Walker Atkinson.
It was put forth at a time when eastern and western Orders were putting forth a great deal of information to the public.  Case, having grown disgusted with the psychotic nonsense in the GD (Case was head of the GD in the US at one point) formed the Builders of the Adytum Order.  Atkinson wrote more but then stopped writing.  A lot of practical working was put in Violet Firth's books under her pen name of Dion Fortune.  (Deo Non Fortuna was one of her Order names)
Cheers, Radha

This little book has been one of the most thought provoking ever (referring to the hard copy). The concepts in The Kybalion ring true. It took a while to read because I wanted to pause after each chapter and think about what I read. Thanks Adrian.

Greetings Nick,

Yes indeed, The Kybalion is one of the pivotal works on the true nature of the universe. The philosophy goes back to at least the days of Hermes Trismegistus, many thousands of years ago. Back then, the lost, and highly advanced civililisations were around, and I am sure the same philosophy existed then and probaly thousands of years before that - there are considerable links between those now lost ancient civilisations and ancient Egypt, including very similar glyphs which can be found in Egypt, in many remains of the ancient civilisations of central and south America - the Toltecs, Inca's, Mayans etc.- and more recent finds on the floor of the Atlantic Ocean.

Modern quantum physics is now fully supporting this philosophy from a completely different sicentific angle, specifically that of the holographic universe being a mind projection within The All.

It all goes to underline the ultimate fact there is only one truth, and here we have it.

With best regards,

Adrian.

I've been reading it - and thank you kindly for the topic...

But I'm curious. It talks of the All, and how our universe is a mental creation of the All. This is easy enough to comprehend. But the talk of the rebirth and moving up through our universe has me wondering (because if I understood correctly, we are limited to our own universe until our final unity with the All) - do they refer to many physical lives or does a spirit's progression to the astral count as a rebirth? Because a large number of people seem to have come by proof that the latter situation happens in many cases. If these 3 initiates were right, and so are the large numbers of people who have gained experiences of a life, after physical death, in the astral, it implies that the majority of our universe is actually in these Astral and Mental planes. This means, unfortunately, the majority of our race today do not even admit the existance of the greater part of our potential boundaries.

And now my logic is spiraling upwards at a rate faster than I can form thoughts, so I'll sit back and ponder and allow others to do the same.

Thanks for the brain food,

Mark
P.S. This is what part of the alphabet would look like if Q and R were eliminated.

Fyrenze

And if this permanent progression to life in the astral realm constitutes a move to the next life, how does life in the astral end, in that timeless realm?

The more you know, the more you don't...

The link below is from the Kybalion website. It is specifically a link to the Kybalion resource page. I thought I would include it here for those interested as it contains some useful links related to The Kybalion.

Greeting Nick,

Thank you very much indeed for providing the link to this excellent site!

The site also provided a link to another site who have published a most interesting looking book entitled:

SUMMUM Sealed Except to the Open Mind        http://www.summum.org/philosophy/book.shtml

I will certainly be reading this at the first opportunity.

With best regards,

Adrian.

Thank you Adrian for the wonderful E-Book.

Except that I have already written it. When I got to the chapter of "The Seven Basic Hermetic Principals" I recognized it immediatly as a small pamplet I composed a few years back that I call "The Wiccan Manifesto" and have distributed it to anyone who asks.

For a moment, I admit, this had me spooked. I had to get up and walk away from my computer a moment. But then after thinking about it I realized it is not an unusual thing- mystics do always come up with the same ideas, don't they? I have never before delved into "hermetic" teaching, but I see it isn't a bit different from the magick I've already been studying. Truth is truth no matter how you label it.

I hadn't visited the Magic section of the forum until the other week. I don't have any desire in 'doing magic' (at least as I understand the term). However, I have begun to get curious about Hermetics and thought I'd read this book as an intro to the philosophy. I have already ordered the books by Franz Bardon and Mouni Sadhu, but they haven't arrived yet.

As Nick said, very thought-provoking.

Most of the concepts presented in this text I had already 'created' on my own. Meaning they are consistent with my own personal view at present, except one. When I reached the desciption of the universe being a Mental creation of the All and that it is undending to a point."...but not until The All finally withdraws us into itself does the vision actually vanish." Something about this rubbed me wrong.

As I interpreted the text, when we are absorbed back into the All, we 'disappear'. We are simply 'figments of imagination.' Which just doesn't feel right to me. And I use the term "feel right" because I don't think I'm viewing this from Ego's perspective. I do admit that this is a possibility, but intuitively it feels wrong to me.

Then, about 2-3 chapters later, it references this concept again, but adds that "the Spirit of each soul is not annihilated, but is infinitely expanded - the Created and the Creator are merged." When I read this, something inside me went "YES!" This is very much in-line with my own personal views as well.

But I have a question about this concept within Hermetics itself. In the beginning of the book, the All is defined as immutable "not subject to change in its real nature"...."It cannot be added to nor subtracted from."

Can someone then explain, within the context of Hermetic philosophy, how we are merged with The All without that merger changing or adding to The All? I have only one thought on how this might work, but I'm curious if others know and if not, what their thoughts on this are.

Thank you!

Novice, would the explanation "The all is an extension of ourselves" suit your preference?

Hi Ceriel!

Hmm...not sure I would agree. I think it would be better to reverse it and say "we are each an extension of The All". But I'm still not sure that is 'correct' within this philosophy. And I'm by no means implying that I have or know the 'correct' answer. But from what I've understood thus far, this still isn't quite right.

I'm not sure how to put into words my thoughts on this, which is why I didn't offer them in my first post. I guess I would try and explain it as follows:

Each soul, through its own direct experiences, evolves and grows its own individuality along the path back to The All. Upon completion of that path, The individuality of each soul is 'imprinted' in The All, maybe. Although that word's not right either.

I guess I'm trying to say I think we cease to exist as seperate entities and instead become one with The All. But cease to exist is really misleading because we were never seperate from The All.

I understand, at least I think I do, what the book says conceptually. But my question is whether anyone can further explain on the 'merger' part of this. I'm REALLY not explaining myself well. And I think its partly because I'm not positive I grasp the details, rather a general understanding of the overall concept.

Then again, maybe the book by Franz Bardon will elaborate on this further.

Sorry for my rambling here. I tend to do that sometimes!
Reality is what you perceive it to be.

Thanks Adrian for this advanced book i was always locking for.[:)]

Damballah

It was indeed an interesting book. This book seemes to be a medium for the great philosophers like socrates those who searched for the "truth" instead of just learning things they tried to get an understanding of things

narfellus

yes, a great book! i had it in my amazon queue, but now there's room for one of the others dozens of books i wanted that aren't downloadable. The Truth is Truth, and i think it is wonderful to be shared in this format with people simply looking for answers to life's deepest questions. It coincides with most of what i already believed, while adding new details.
If but we knew the power of our thoughts we would guard them more closely.

Adrian

Greetings everyone,

Herewith attached is The Kybalion in Adobe Acrobat ebook format.

The Kybalion is not a course for the path, but is rather Hermetic philosophy, and one of the best works of its kind.

It would be nice to start a discussion here on The Kybalion.

Enjoy!

With Best regards,

Adrian.
