I am someone of Chinese/Taiwanese descent who grew up in the West.

Growing up, my household was bicultural, meaning that we watched both eastern & western movies, were bilingual and celebrated both eastern & western holidays. As an adult, I've now moved back to Asia and rekindled my interest in Taoism, which was always in the background of all the movies I watched growing up.

I now live in Southeast Asia with my wife. A few years ago, I had my first ever supernatural experience, where I saw a ghost. Intrigued, I turned to learning more about the supernatural and the occult.

A few months ago, I began to take the study of astral projection more seriously. I've been having more vivid dreams but I still haven't been able to lucid dream yet.

Looking forward to connecting with fellow enthusiasts!

Welcome to the Pulse, ThirdEyeWizard!

There is arguably more good information here on astral projection than on any other source. I can assure you it is real; the challenge is learning the practice through  dedication and patience. Check out the Permanent Topics on the Astral FAQS board; the dark blue 'sticky' topics at the top of the first board Welcome to Out of Body Experiences (or any board) for some excellent ideas. And if you have a specific question, feel free to ask. Enjoy!
Be yourself; everyone else is already taken.

I've recently created a thread called "a glitch in the matrix"... If it interest you, I will share the link. Yesterday I thought I saw an oriental monk... He looked like a holy man, beautiful brown skin, bald head and an orange robe. It was brief, there was a profound feeling of peace and more specifically- Victory, before I realized I was looking at a man walking his dog. It made me wonder what just happened.

Now I am here reading your post, noticing you are from Asia and have an interest in eastern spiritual philosophy. And it would appear you arrived yesterday!

I don't believe in coincidence. Welcome to the forum~ it's nice to have you.

Sure let's swap ghost stories. Here's mine:

A few years ago, I was visiting a friend in the Cambodian countryside when I saw something I could not explain.

Let me set up the story and give some background context so that it would make more sense.

Cambodia is a very haunted country. It's the most haunted country I have been to and I think it's because of its recent past with the Khmer rouge killing pretty much everybody.

In the rural Cambodian countryside, everyone keeps dogs. My friend told me it was because dogs can see ghosts, spirits and other supernatural creatures, entities that humans cannot see easily. Because of this ability, rural folks keep dogs as guard dogs in order to ward off the evil spirits and protect the inhabitants of the house.

Now, my friend lives in a very remote part of Cambodia. The closest big city with over 100,000 people was actually an hour away. We are so remote that there are no public streetlights at night. So if you have to wander around after sunset and you don't have a flashlight, then you're flat out of luck.

One night, I was in my room when I heard the family dog bark at 11 PM. Now if you understand dogs, they bark only if they see something unfamiliar. If they see something familiar and friendly and safe, they would not bark.

I am a very curious person by nature so every time the dog barked, I would actually leave my room to investigate. I was staying on the second floor of a rustic house so the moment I heard the dog bark, I picked up the flashlight and stepped out onto the porch.

It was pitch black so I shone the flashlight at the dog and then at what he was barking at. Turned out he was barking at a passerby just walking past our locked gates. Thinking nothing of it, I returned to my room to work on my computer some more.

An hour later, at midnight, the dog barked again. Curious, I grabbed the flashlight and stepped out onto the porch again. This time, I noticed that the dog was standing near the fence that divided our house from the neighbor. He was barking at something on the neighbor's side of the fence. I said in Khmer, "Goo, teveu avey?" which means, "Goo (the dog's name), what are you doing?"

The dog turned to look at me with a friendly expression for a few seconds. And then he returned to barking at the figure.

My curiosity fully peaked now, I shone the flashlight onto the figure that the dog was barking at. What I saw defied explanation. I still have no idea what it was but I will do my best to describe it to you.

Trapped in between a tractor on the neighbor's side and the fence, the figure was in standing a position that was at a 45° angle. So this means I can only see its profile. It was a humanoid figure with the same proportion as a man. So it had the outline of a face and a torso and lower body. Its upper body was wrapped entirely in a blue cloth. Its lower body was wrapped entirely in a white cloth. I could see the bumps of a nose and cheekbones and a mouth underneath the blue cloth. It looked like was a department store mannequin. But unlike a mannequin, I got the distinct feeling that it was alive.

Now when you're human and you're standing out in the pitch darkness of the Cambodian countryside at midnight, when someone shines a light on your face, would you turn to see the source of the light? But this creature did not. This creature pretended as though I did not exist. In other words, it was ignoring me.

My first reaction was complete bewilderment. What the hell was that thing? Now, I don't do drugs or smoke or drink alcohol and I don't take any mind-altering substances. I was in a completely sober state of mind. This definitely was not a dream because I never sleep that early. But I was still baffled. Thinking I was hallucinating, I turned off the light and then waited a few seconds.

At that point, the dog stopped barking and returned to the garage, where he normally sleeps.

For the second time, I turned on the flashlight at that location again, expecting it to disappear.

It had not disappeared. It was still there, standing at the exact same 45° angle, with its profile facing me. Puzzled, I wracked my brain, trying to figure out what it was. It did not seem to be malicious. It was just ignoring me.

I turn off the flashlight again. It was now completely dark again. I would try one more time.

I turned on the flashlight and there it was again.

At that point, I began to feel scared. Not because it was menacing but because of the mystery, because I couldn't figure out what it was. It is human nature to be fearful of the unknown.

Fear took over and I decided to go back into my room. I would not venture out that night again.

The next morning I told my friend all about it and he brushed it off as very normal. My friend's reaction was very matter-of-fact. He said, "so you saw a ghost," as though he were announcing that it's raining. He then said that he had seen plenty of ghosts in his village as a child. For example, when he was eight years old, at the front entrance of his house, there was a lady under a tree who told him to come play with him. She stuck out her tongue and it reached all the way to the ground. Another time, my friend's sister was going to the local market at 3 AM to set up her produce stall. She said that she saw the figure of an old man with only an upper body but no lower body just floating in the air.

My friend also said that his deceased father's spirit was looking after his family. There were also enchanted shrines at the entrance of the property that had been strengthened by various local protection spells. So that was why the thing could not enter our property and why the creature was on the neighbor's side of the fence and not our side.

It was the first time in my life that I have seen anything remotely supernatural. I cannot be 100% certain it was a ghost but I am 100% certain that was not a man or woman or human and it was not any natural animal on our planet. It felt very supernatural and paranormal.
I'm certain it was not a human for two reasons: the awkward position it was standing in (it was sandwiched in between a tractor on one side and the fence on the other) and the fact that it did not move or turn to look at me when I shone a flashlight in his face three times.

Does anyone know what I saw?

In any case, this supernatural encounter led me onto the path of spirituality and spiritual development. It was the catalyst of my spiritual awakening.

I also just googled some ting mong/Cambodian scarecrows but it looked nothing like what I saw. The pictured show faces but the thing I saw I had no face: just an outline of a face. It just looked like a mannequin wrapped in shrouds.

Here are some reasons I don't think it was a scarecrow:
1 it was gone the next morning when I woke up. Why would be the neighbor remove the scarecrow in the morning? Wouldn't he want the scarecrow to be there all day to scare away pests and birds?
2 I don't remember the neighbor having placed a scarecrow there earlier that day. There was also no garden or any crops nearby that needed protection. This was the residence and not the farm.
3 The cloth resembled death shrouds.
4 Why did the dog suddenly notice it at midnight? Why didn't it just start barking at 11 PM at around the same time when it saw the passerby pass by our locked gates? The dog barking at 12 am suggests to me that the ghost had suddenly appeared and triggered the dog's senses. Is it likely that the neighbor placed the thing in such an awkward position between the tractor and the fence right at midnight?

My friend's house faces a ditch and he told me that lots of people died during the reign of the Khmer Rouge. Their bodies were thrown haphazardly into the ditch without a proper burial. Perhaps it's one of the vengeful aggrieved spirits that I saw.

Hi Wizard!

Thank you for your ghostly story = )

I was just having a conversation with Tak about these strange phenomenon.

I guess there's more to reality than meets the eye. Ghost, ET's, Angels. But also- Time warps. Like being somewhere in the past when you shouldn't. Then there's actually missing time and having no explanation for it.

So many things... And it is also curious- why do we experience it? I actually like experiencing life in unusual ways so I feel grateful for these interesting moments.

I titled the thread a glitch in the matrix because the matrix implies the illusion or simulation of ordinary life. Here's the link you asked for,

Thank you for the link. I'll check it out.

Yes there's definitely much more than meets the eye especially because our human senses cannot sense everything that exists. Sometimes, animals are more attuned and are better at perception than we are. This is why I'm beginning to believe in the supernatural. I'm 100 percent sure I saw the creature so now I'm a true believer.

After all, seeing is believing. I know that I saw something that was paranormal.

Welcome! :-) I really liked what you shared, it's a fascinating story. I have also witnessed the presence of etheric beings, with a friend we were able to see one together.
This physical plane is full of incredible manifestations, you just have to be open-minded to see and interpret them.
This experience has been a kind of initiation, so good for you!
Thanks for sharing and feel free to do so.

Thank you, Tak! What were the etheric beings like? Were you on the astral plane when you saw them? Did you interact with them and if so what did they say?

Hello ThirdEyeWizard  :-)
The being we perceived was when I was 18 years old, it was from this physical plane. My friend and I were dining with my family at home, seated in a perspective where only we could see it. Each of us saw it independently, without saying a word to anyone, and corroborated the experience later in my room.

Suddenly, I saw an entity constantly entering and exiting the kitchen, appearing as a formless, elongated, and semi-transparent mass of energy composed of thousands of particles in motion, giving the sensation of 'TV static' - you know, when old TVs had no signal and displayed those moving white and black dots. In some way, the density of the being manifested itself in that manner.
The being entered the kitchen, stayed for a few seconds, then exited and stayed at the door for another few seconds, repeating this pattern for several minutes, until finally was gone.
I never thought of sharing this with my friend or anyone, as I've always been reserved about such things, even when my friend was experiencing many 'paranormal' things at that time.

However, in my room, my friend decided to share what she saw during dinner with me, and I didn't say a word until she described in detail everything she perceived, and it was exactly what I saw. According to her, it was a deceased person, but I am not sure.
I find it striking that this being looks exactly like how I perceive myself in the astral plane (although perhaps we are all very similar) - a formless, elongated being composed of thousands of particles in motion, like millions of stars or dots of light. Viewing it from the astral plane, I perceive my body and the microdots of an immaculate, brilliant white light, but from the physical plane, this being appeared more dense and transparent, as fog with static.

There was no communication with this being, but somehow I felt no fear when I saw it; I felt peace and didn't feel the need to alarm anyone or disturb the being. I sense it was benevolent. I had already experienced astral travel and seen similar beings and myself, so I understood the phenomenon at that moment.

This isn't the first time I've had such perceptions, but the others have been while I was alone, both physically and astrally.
I'm also deeply grateful to have witnessed these manifestations. I believe everything happens for a reason, and perhaps this is meant to encourage us to open up to the unknown and explore reality beyond the veil  :-) .

I have also observed an entity some time ago. I have never discussed this in detail on the Pulse. To this day I am in deep thought what/who exactly the being was. An Angel, a super high vibrational being up at the doorstep of the Divine, my higher self of which was of very high vibration... The experience was unfortunately frightening, as I was unprepared for just how spectacular this being was in all its glory. I didn't sense the being had any ill intentions. The being did not speak.

I am not sure if this event occurred in the Astral or perhaps a very unique RTZ event, as I was only in bed a few minutes before the being appeared.

I had a precursor to the being's visit on two other occasions, of which I was completely awake. A mere glimpse of an anomaly of a similar color and light emission. Then the mesmerizing visit followed.

I also agree with you Tak in that the being, at a minimum, wanted give me curiosity, focus and drive to see what's beyond the veil. I think there is also more to it, and perhaps someday I will get the answers.

Hi ThirdEyeWizard, I'm glad you enjoyed the story; yours seemed even more fascinating to me! :-) I think the dog was a great indicator, since he wouldn't have barked at a scarecrow and reacted similarly to when he sees an unknown living person.

Honestly, I have no idea why that event occurred to me. My intuition tells me it could be an advanced astral projector in the middle of an adventure. I often joke that it could be myself in the future or even me after this life, visiting a scene from my past (since consciousness exists simultaneously free of space-time).
For some reason, I perceived that energy as feminine, and its imprint was human, not alien. I also thought it might have been a bit lost or disturbed due to its constant movement entering and exiting the kitchen, as if unsure what to do until finding a solution.

I suppose some entities materialize partially, allowing collective visibility, while others are only perceived through our own non-physical senses. In this case, the being clearly lowered its energy vehicle's vibrational frequency, allowing my friend and I to perceive it simultaneously.
I only know everything happens for a reason, and perhaps sparking curiosity in my friend and I was the purpose of its visit. Perhaps feeling peace is because the being harmonized the environment, as you say. Some things may remain shrouded in mystery, at least during this lifetime.

If you wish to see Angels, ask to see your own Guides; they may not be of that level, but you'll experience the purest unconditional love ever felt on Earth. Be cautious, as it can be overwhelming! But it will be unforgettable, filling your eyes with tears each time you recall it, at least that's how it was for me.

One of my greatest desires is to see nature's elementals in the forest. I've had many wonderful experiences in nature; once, I felt all the trees spoke to me, warning of danger and death. That's because I discovered later loggers destroying them, and the entire forest was trembling. The trees cordially warned me to leave.
However, I've never seen the forest's subtle energies. My dream is that they'll present themselves someday  :-)

My friend's house faces a ditch and he told me that lots of people died during the reign of the Khmer Rouge. Their bodies were thrown haphazardly into the ditch without a proper burial. Perhaps it's one of the vengeful aggrieved spirits that I saw.

That's amazing -- not only the story but how you reacted afterward, starting your spiritual journey!

In my opinion, what you saw reminds me of what people call a "residual haunting." Not an intelligent, earthbound entity, but rather an energy-formed impression of a prior event. Here in the United States, the Civil War battlegrounds of Gettysburg, Pennsylvania are known for them.

Where do I begin with my ghost stories?

I'll just start with my favourite one: December 2014, Chicago,  I was in the hospital. It was 2 or 3am and I was in the bathroom. Amongst some paper towels on the floor, one began to move on its own, spinning in circles. But wait -- there's more! I felt a gush of cool air pass right through me a few minutes later. I was amused and said aloud, "of all things..." After seeing an episode of Unsolved Mysteries from 1991, I instantly wanted to experience this, and then I finally did!

Ghosts are just people, their personalities don't really change after they die. After my first close encounter of the ghostly kind, I was able to pick up on earthbound entities and communicate with them, using that first experience as a reference point. I've helped a few cross over into the light. Ghosts feel very lonely while still retaining the same desires they did while alive. They want to eat their favourite foods, drink their favourite drinks, socialise with friends. Yet, most people aren't even aware of them and the ones that are tend to be scared.

I love my ghost buddies and I jokingly call myself the "ghost host." Make of it what you like. :)

You make a good point. It was really helpful to have that passerby walk past the gates an hour earlier, sort of like a control factor in an experiment. I'm actually heading back to the village in a few months because my wife is from there and will be living with her. I will be staying there permanently so I will report on any further supernatural encounters.

I think I will ask my guides to help me see an angel. I have been invoking angels lately and asking for their help and blessing.

It's interesting that you mentioned the tree spirits because Taoism, which is my main area of practice & expertise, is somewhat pagan, like all early human religions, and thus have great reverence and respect for nature.

Yes I've heard of these residual hauntings.

Would it stand to reason that these ghosts are not able to drink and eat anymore? Or is there a spiritual or energy equivalent of consuming food and drink?

It's very cool that you were able to help some ghosts crossover. What exactly did you do to help?

Thank you :) I think by making contact with other peoples' food and drink, the ghosts find a way to experience the taste, though I don't know how. They seem interested in mine.

Helping the ghosts cross over, it's hard to explain. I've helped five in the past seven years. It's different for each entity.

Three were murder victims killed in the early 70s by the same guy, who thankfully rotted away in prison. I was not even aware of the cases until after I helped Mary cross over. I met her and two other victims (Linda and Lisa) whom I all met at the same cafe. Mary and Linda used to take turns visiting me. Mary crossed over when she knew Linda was in good hands. I felt like Mary was like a mother figure to Linda in the afterlife.

After I met all three ghosts, I had discovered that someone had posted stickers displaying the killer's picture and name saying "Bernie has friends" outside the cafe where we all met. Once I realised who he was, I ripped those stickers down out of respect for the ghosts.

Linda did not realise she was dead. She kept asking me. She used to follow me home from time to time and spend a few days or longer. I could not figure out why she was not looking for her daughter. Eventually I think after I reassured Linda that she was dead, she got her daughter to follow me home. This was last Christmas, I asked them both if they wanted to cross over. Linda told me yes. I told them to look for the light, the Source, and go to it when they see it. I meditated on it intensely. After they had crossed, I could tell they were no longer in my apartment.
