Although I can't actually see auras I usually "sense" a color around people. For example: over the summer I was telling my dad about this. He asked me what color aura he had and after a moment I said mostly green but sometimes a few, less prominent colors. And he just sort of smiled and said that a friend of his in college who could see aura said his was green. (I am aware that aura colors can change.)  So I am wondering what this means about me?  Could it just be a lucky guess or am I actually "sensing" his aura. I am also pretty good at recognizing how the energy around people feels and can tell the difference between people by this. And also when it comes to my family and friends I can get a good idea about where they are in my or their houses and in school. And do you know any ways I can improve what I can do?

Hi Dansk,

Not everyone sees auras in the same way. I beat my head against Robert Bruce's methods for some time with no real improvements, yet during sessions of meditation & psychic development with friends, I found that I was able to "sense" the aura's, just as you say. Once I accepted that, and allowed myself to accept that what I was sensing was actually real, I slowly progressed to being able to see them, though even now I still don't see them as vivid colours, it's more a combination of seeing and knowing.

Sensing auras as you have mentioned is a perfectly acceptable method. This is simply because some people are more visual than others. Best way to improve on what you've got is firstly to trust in your senses, allow yourself to be comfortable with the fact that what you are sensing is indeed correct. Relax and don't try to push yourself further, but keep practicing what you know you can do. You will find that when you're not pushing yourself to achieve something more, but happily practicing what you know you can do, your senses will open up further, and you will seem to naturally improve.

Kind regards,
James.

Which Aura?  You Aura has many layers (and more than 7 Chakra's, but I'm digressing).  The Ethereic Layer is a sort of electric blue.  The Emotional Layer is multi-colored, and probably what your seeing.  The mental layer is Golden Yellow, and the Astral layer is multicolored.  That's your 4 basic energy bodies, but there are more as you move into higher levels.

People have a predominat color to their Aura.  Call this their baseline or native color.  When they do something, it can change, sometimes wildly until they return to 'rest'.  Musicians are a good example of a wildly changing Auric pattern.  A teacher would shift as they start to lecture.  A healer will shift to whatever color they need to heal.

Keep prcticing, it's always a useful skill.
There is a physical limitation upon how much light a human body can sustain. Interestingly, there is no limit on how much light a human vessel can generate. When fully enlightened you must instill your light in order to maintain its wisdom.

I just read an awesome book on the subject of which you are speaking, and which offers information more exact and descriptive, like what Rastus was saying...it's called "Hands of Light"by Barabara Brennan and I'm telling you, wholeheartedly, that book was amazing. She is an energy healer ...works with people through all levels of their energy fields, and she is also a physicist who worked for NASA for 5 years first and foremost. Her book is brilliant, very in depth...and a must read for anyone interested in working as a healer either personally or professionally. Awesome book! Mind blowing...it explains the different levels with awesome clarity, perception tools and techniques, etc. it's in a text book format and she even uses it in her classrooms (she has a healing school in south Florida) even makes small reference to her own spirit guide, personal case studies...etc.
Her book and Bruce's book mesh very well for an overall indepth understanding of the body and the unverse more invaluable than I can stress.

I agree with Loveregardless that Hands of Light is one of the best books on auras around. I've read many that have either been too airy-fairy, or have tried to be too scientific. Barbara's book is practical, straight forward, easy to follow, and very informative.

One important thing to mention though is not to get too caught up in how colours should be interpreted. There are some fundamental guidelines to the meanings of colours, and locations, as Rastus mentioned, which have been very well documented, but as to how you actually interpret the meanings of those colours yourself, its best to follow your feelings, and let your intuition guide you as to what your sensing about them.

James.

Thanks for the replies everyone! And I will check out that book.

I read the thing Robert Bruce wrote and it didn't do anything for me. Another thing, my dad said that when I was born he says he saw a goldish color around my head for about 5 minutes or so, and that after my brother was born he saw the same thing except it was silver. Could that mean anything? Does it happen to everyone?

How cool!!!

Means two things -
1) your father has the ability to see auras (kinda obvious that comment huh?)
2) Gold auras typically indicate a very strong spirit connection. This is not surprising in babies as they're very new to the physical world, so the level of higher spirit connection in them hasn't been diminished by worldly interference, and is very strong. Babies are VERY psychic and have increadibly good spirit vision. Watch a baby looking at someone and they often appear to be looking just past that person. They're often either looking at the colours of someone's aura themselves, or looking at spirit beings around them.

Kind regards,
James.

Was this put in the novel review forum?

I know my dad can't actually see auras he would have told me if he could and that is the weird part. I was thinking it could be because we are related? He is really good at picking up on things like the vibes people give off and he can usually tell whats going on in someones life (to some extent) by looking at them. So maybe because I am his daughter his "senses" were heightened?

I am so glad I am not the only one who seems to sense rather than see auras... when I started doing this, I simply told myself it was my wishful thinking and that anyone can 'imagine' there to be colours there. I am more a sensing, hearing and visualising person...only ever seen 2 spirits with my actual physical vision.

On all psychic journeys, imagination is the first port of call, so never dismiss it.

Imagination resides in the higher mind, well above the surface thoughts and analytical processes, and it can connect both to the subconscious and the super-conscious, the higher self. when Practicing psychic development, trust your imagination.  :)

James.

I agree with James completely. So often we think of "imagination" as being synonymous with "fake" or "unreal"...the typical use of the word indicates some level of fanciful false hood or childishness, when in reality, that couldn't be farther from the truth. Our "imagination" is our greatest spiritual/psychic tool. It allows us to "visualize", and "sensualize" in general, our non physical experiences. Creativity comes from our higher selves, as a way of expressing the nonphysical, and therefore imagination is a creation of our higher selves. At least that's how I see it to be...if that even made any sense. :?

Wow  the same happens to me.  When I sense energy, as well as auras, it looks like my brain somehow provides a mental or visual image,  it is not I see energy with my physical eyes, it is just that I get a Visual-sensing of energy.

This is something like when I do some visualization exercises  , where I try to feel and sense the environment I want, and I get a visual image of it.

I believe this must be a type of third eye vision.
