Inhibition of natural ability

In all training there comes a point where more training actually  becomes detrimental. The body and mind burn out, so to speak, and react by regressing re the skill practised.
If you can sense the ability then practise seems to be bad the don't do specific pratices. Just set the goal in your mind and do something else. Something that's complementary to the things you're doing now.

You can sharpen an axe until there's no blade left. This blinding revelation was brought to you by yours truly http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/images/icon_Smile_big.gif" border=0>

What I believe is that I learned to guarantee failure while being able to tell myself that I am giving my best efforts to succeed. It isn't that I don't try so much as that I don't expect to succeed anymore. Of course, I have not lost faith that it can be done, but maybe I don't really think I can do it anymore?

Exactly why you should do something else for a while. You know you've done it before. The only thing that's blocking you now is subconsciously trying too hard.
Do something creative instead and forget the entire OBE for a couple of weeks.

Jilola, I knew you would be able to help me. Thank you for responding, especially so quickly. Actually, recently it is getting easier to see auras and to some extent large fields of energy. There are moments when I see energy all around me, to some slight extent. It is starting out the way seeing auras around people did, with a grainy and wavy dark look to the air around where I am looking. It is probably best to just allow what is developing to continue to develop, without really trying to force anything to happen. Actual use of specific technique can wait until later.

try taking a break and thinking upon your progress. in the martial arts, to train only the body and not reflect upon your progress is considered very detrimental to your progress. there are times you hit a plateu in your training, when you must stop and think. remember why you are doing this, what you have been doing that works, and what you have been doing that doesn't work. in body building you cannot continually work on one set of muscles: you must give them more than double the time (i think it was double; 6 hours of training, 1 day of rest, right?) to rest that you took to train them.

you must give you self time to get used to what is happening; to adjust to your new skills. training and rest must be done in balance. when you hit a plateu, remember. this was the most natural thing for me to do when i was training the martial arts.

It seems to me like I have much more ability than I am allowing myself to access. Increasing efforts to go out of body seems to make the goal seem farther away. The more energy I raise the deeper my next low mood gets. The idea of going forward by staying still or stepping backward is hard to accept. Should I learn the Core Image Removal technique to try to see if I am right, that there is natural ability I am blocking? Would trying to move in another direction just cause another of the same reactions?
