I would like to know how many of the members here makes affirmations during technique?  I usually include an affirmation to keep things positive.  Please do share. :-)

I also do the 'keep things positive' affirmation. I only do this when things tend to get a little dark. And thats not too often. :) I guess the key is believing it deep down.

Before I ap, I say to myself concentrate and ap.  That is very important otherwise I will not ap if I fall asleep.  I keep telling myself ap is easy.  If you think it is easy, ap is easy to do.

When I begin to Phase or fall asleep I say this in my head.

"By my act of will I RELEASE my focus over my physical body. PLEASE TAKE ME to your desired destination. SHOW ME what I need to SEE. TEACH ME what I need to LEARN.

I add this while going to sleep.

AWAKEN ME in my Dreams with full conscious awareness. So I may LEARN from them and ENJOY them. So I may REMEMBER them".

All of the capitalized words I envision fading into the darkness before my eyes.

I do this every time.

Once in awhile I throw this in as well. It's something that i learned a long time ago while attempting to Scry.

"The unseen Multiverse is readily open to me, my inner sight is true and far reaching"

I hold a dream / OOBE journal... every day when I am done, I write a whole paragraph of intentions which often goes like this: "This night, I am sleepy, my body falls asleep, yet my mind remains alert; the vibrations comes on strongly. I observe them and wait for the perfect wave to go out-of-body with ease. Once I am out of the body, I am fully aware that I am in the Second State. I do *this* and *that*. Once I wake up, I remember every details of the experience and of every dreams".

I may write more intents or formulate questions, goals, healing directions, request for guides somewhere in the day. These days I also use a recording of intentions which I put on low volume when I go to bed. I let it play and I fall asleep... if I am not succesful, when I wake up in the middle of the night, I let the recorder plays again. And next thing I know I am out of body.

Many times in the day, I repeat intentions while firmly believing I am going to succeed. It's not a failure if I don't make it or if I am stuck with mild vibrations or it doesn't go in the direction of my intentions. I keep trying over and over and even when I only have ordinary dreams, it's a success. Sure OBBE are amazing, but you should not deny the insights from ordinary dreams. For example, I had an ordinary dream this night, I found myself within a little spot, within the texture of a much larger universe. I didn't understand until I emerged into a forest where I saw a monk in meditation. From this dream, I found a creative idea for my writings!

Affirmations are 100% about the Intent you place behind them.

Figure out Intent and you can use it to your hearts desire.

Totally aggree with Xanth here as I was doing affirmations alot before and they didn't work at all. They did nothing for me. Later I realized that I had autonomically repeated teh same affirmations like 30 times each day with out any real intent. I believed I had intent, but I didn't after all. You can feel true intent, like you know its true. I can honestly say I never repeated any affirmation with true intent. Perhaps I should start trying.

That's what my viewing the words does. It makes it real!  :-)

Instead of just saying them, I'm seeing them fade into the area I want to go.

This empowers and deepens the intent even further!

But yes, if you just say them without meaning them, you are just wasting your time.

I even add Please to mine and thank you to my affirmations, because I like to show respect to my inner self/consciousness, whatever you want to call it.

I always say Please when asking for something and Thank You when receiving it, so why stop now!
