Am I dreaming or not?

Hi everybody,

Sometimes when I wake up in the middle of the night or in the morning (and I know I am a wake cose I do reality checks) I see people, creatures, my cat or even a group of children in my bedroom.

It's not scary and they usually don't look at me, try to communicate or even know I'm there. But a couple of times some figures did and looked at me and sort of tried to interact with me. But I just tell em how funny they are, that I love them and smile at them.

The people, creatures etc. look dreamy and I can see the difference between 'real' and not real. When I saw my cat on my TV and also looked at my cat next to me sleeping. I knew witch 1 was the real 1, it's very obvious to see. The 'fake' cat looked dreamy..

Does anybody know wtf this is? Is my brain still in dreammode when I wake up and need some time to switch to 'reality'?

ps: I find it really cool and enjoy seeing 'things' when I wake up not scary at all :-D

Only you can "discern" what is really happening.

It could be you are awaking while still in a transitional state. It could be you have left over images in your eyes from what you last saw.

It also could be that you are awaking in SP, without the bells and whistles, but are still in thought = action mode.

The main thing is, you have confronted your fears and you realize that you are currently still in a Non Physical state of mind.

It is possable the cat is in its astral body .  The other beings/critters could be people in there astral bodies , ghosts , left over energy , thought forms , ect.

Something like this happened to me once when I was a kid. See here (also the thread may be interesting to you): http://www.astralpulse.com/forums/welcome_to_out_of_body_experiences/hypnogogic_vs_hypnopompic-t32038.0.html;msg262900#msg262900.

I honestly don't know what to make of it.

Thanks or the replies and the link to the very interesting thread.

This morning I saw an old dude playing the piano in my room, hehe. He even kept rocking his head to the music (I hear no sounds btw). When the people I see fade away, there is an object in place of where I saw them. A lamp, ventilator or something else. Makes my think that my brain is still in the sleep-mode and converts objects in front of my into dreamobjects. But just a thought.

Well, for now I still enjoy them, little boring but funny every now and then. My dreams keep getting intenser tho very cool. Somethimes in the middle of the night I wake up and my whole body is vibrating/waving and I keep still and hope they keep going. But they keep fading out every time, still a good sing I think. Maybe I'm getting closer to project.

A couple of days ago I had a dream where I was like a slave of a woman and she made me do push-ups. Some dude was standing next to here and tryed to made me do things to. I got mad and didn't do what he wanted, he then attacked my and just when I wanted to kick his butt I woke up and my whole body vibrated like crazy. I really wanted to get back to sleep to get that guy but no luck. I think I met this guy before in a dream where he did the same thing. That day and the day after that, I had a very painfull headache. I sure hope to meet this guy again in a lucid dream, then he has some explaining to do :D

I take the position that *EVERYTHING* is consciousness.
Therefore, there is no body... physical, etheric, astral, whatever... I view them as simply not something that objectively exists separate from anything else: because all is one.

So when you wake up in the middle of the night, what you're seeing is simply a different perspective.  You're tuned into seeing reality in a slightly different way.
I've lived with what you're describing for my entire life.  Waking up and seeing people standing around me... creatures of all kinds... even things I can't even begin to describe all happening in my bedroom.  I've learned to live with it.

To directly answer your question... I don't believe for a second that what most humans call a "dream" exists.  Dreams simply aren't what people think they are.  They're real experiences in consciousness.  Anything you can directly experience is real.  So is what you and I experience a dream?  Most people would call it that, yes.  I say it's not a dream because dreams don't exist... it's an experience of the non-physical.  It's an experience of a slightly different perspective of consciousness than your usual everyday waking life... which isn't really anything but a projection either.  A projection of your consciousness in this, what we call, physical reality.

Mind blown yet?

This. For obvious reasons made me think of The Matrix, which made me think of The Invisibles, which is kinda awesome, bonkers and totally related.

Play with the scene, you're not quite awake. Hypnopomp as already said.
I used to play with the scene, making it insane then naking sure I tidied it up fully before wakung for real.
It's a brilliant way to learn too. I was around 9 years old at the time. It occured after meeting a guide and the astral proper opened its doors so to speak.
One thing you should do is empty the room completely. No windows or doors, just a white box. Then think on an exit. It's amazing what opens up.
Limitless creation...
There's far more where the eye can't see.
Close your eyes and open your mind.

Wauw that sounds great, thanks! Unfortunately I can't play with the scene I tried making entities whom I see look at me or do something by thinking about it. But nothing happens they just keep doing what they do.

I experienced this almost every morning for a while but at the moment I don't see anything anymore. If it happens again I'm gonna try playing with the scene and hopefully I can try your white box suggestion.

And thanks all for the great replies!
