Yep, but I found that the scum sucking bastard in my dream that scared the bejebus outta me was my spirit guide. You may want to try and work with energy then ATTEMPT to have a lucid dream. YOu never know what will come of things when you go against thought pattern/what a creature expects you to. I suggest trying to lucid dream so you can overcome whatever is scaring you with common sense. worked for me anyway :-)

wow psi, that experience sounds like it was very scary. I admire your strength in finding out that what you feared would turn out to be an aid.

I think fear is what makes the spritual so hard to understand, and that "fear" is diferent for everyone - There doesnt seem to be any rules governing how fear manifests itself. I think most fears are there to protect us, and are important in keeping us from harm.

Fears associated with spiritual growth seem to almost play some part "in" that growth. In overcoming the initial fears brought on by the spiritual, it is like taking that first step that could and "will" lead to further growth.

All this seems easy to explain of a sudden, but when your the individual experiencing any of his/her fears, it it not that easy. Fear is different for each everyone, and seems to depend on how "ready" that person is for spritual growth. One can say they are ready, but if they are not able to overcome even their "simplest" fears, then they are not ready.

Nightmares are fun. Last night I had one (not lucid) with somebody chasing me with a gun that shot needles. I woke up and wanted to go back but couldnt. All emotions, including fear, can be used for spiritual growth, and can be fun with a different perspective.

The ability to create a lucid dream from a normal sleep dream can solve a LOT of problems. Control in a lucid dream allows a lucid dreamer to confront their worst fears in a nightmare or simply erase that nightmare and create a friendlier, more benign dream.
Equally important is the ability to project out of body directly from a lucid dream. Opinions about methods differ but most lucid dreamers agree that projections out of LDs is possible with practice.

Thanks for replying.

I've found that terror is inherent in any spiritual system.  After weeks of energy work, obe attempts, shamanistic journeys into the lower and upper worlds, and shamanic meditation, I have found the fear to be beneficial.  I haven't been out of body yet, but I am still trying, and I've always been thankful for nightmares and other-worldly dreams.  They are a gift.  The one emotion that just about every form of life understands is fear, and the need to survive, so in being afraid, we connect with life in a completely general level.  It's sort of life looking rolling back the evolutionary time line, back to when there was just Life and no denomonations or different forms of it.  The universe is a terrifying place, but that's no reason to be scared (::chuckle::).  H. P. Lovecraft wrote "The oldest emotion of mankind is fear.  The oldest and strongest fear is fear of the unknown."  Thanks again for replying.  I will make it to the astral plane within two months.

About 4 months ago I purchased Astral Dynamics, and got right into it.  I have developed myself with NEW to some extent, and can successfully reach the trance state, but each time I try to have an OBE, I always fall asleep and have extremely vived, almost 100% realistic dreams that are very otherwordly, and sometimes nightmarish.  Now it seems that every time I do energy work before going to bed this happens, has this happened before to anyone?
