Title: Can anyone tell me whether this was an OBE that i had last night?
Post by: piyal_14 on August 01, 2012, 03:18:25
Hello all! I think i had an OBE last night.
I have actually been suffering from a bit of an anxiety lately due to which i don't get good sleep. To solve this problem i have been working out in the evenings so that i can sleep peacefully. I actually succeeded in this and slept peacefully for over a week.
However yesterday i missed out on my daily workout and my sleep seemed to be a little disturbed.
Anyway in the middle of the night i felt like my body was completely paralysed. I have had this feeling many times before but this time i somehow managed to open my eyes partially. Though it was very dark, I thought i saw a gleaming white light ahead of me and there was a very funny feeling as i was lifted up maybe just an inch above my bed. I was still not sure of what was happening and a little scared too. Then a series of events happened or i felt they happened:
I tried to wake up my sister who was sleeping right beside me but i couldn't touch her.
I tried turning on the bedside light but the switch didn't budge.
Finally i turned my head back and i saw my own face with eyes wide open and gleaming.
I freaked out because i saw my face upclose and also saw my eyes open. Then i could finally drop back into my body.
Later on throughout the night i kept drifting on and off sleep and again and again i could feel my body getting paralysed.
Please could someone explain this to me. I'm quite anxious.  :?

First off, Hello and Welcome to the Astral Pulse. Now secondly, you answered your own question right here when you said "Then I could finally drop back into my body". this in fact means that you did have a successful OBE (Out of Body Experience). Congratulations, the first one you remember is usually spooky, I say the the first one you remember because you shift every night, but are unaware of it. If you wish to ever break the "paralysis", try wiggling your toes. That does it for me. Sleep paralysis is perfectly normal, you go into it every night, again this is another thing you are normally not aware of, because you are asleep at the time.
If you wish to ever do this again, you will need to confront your fears though.
Good Luck and Safe Travels!  :-)

Actually the spooky part was when i saw the white light after i opened my eyes partially. Also, when i turned my head I saw my eyes wide open and gleaming too!! What could be the possible explanation for these events?

You hadn't returned 100% back yet from the Astral, so this was like a residual effect. So many bizarre things happen when you allow conscious Astral Travel into your life. You kind of have to take them in stride. Make yourself a Journal so you can log these events. Someday you will look back at this as the beginning of a fantastic new chapter in your life!  :-)

You opened your physical eyes, but this didn't matter. Your consciousness shifted into the astral and you lifted slightly out of your body. When you saw the light, your consciousness was in the astral. When you tried to turn the bedside light on, you were in your astral body. When you turned your head, again you were in your astral body and it was your physical eyes you saw. Then you dropped back into your physical.

Congratulations! In future, try to control your fear, there really isn't anything to be frightened of, imo. If anything ever frightens you, just say "you can't harm me!" and whatever it is will lose its power over you (its most likely a subconscious fear).

Hope this helps.

how could she open her physical eyes, or (keep them open) if her consciousness was in her astral body?

It is known a split-consciousness. Like I said she was between stages. I have always felt that Autism is the same as this split consciousness. Once on the road, during one of my shows I came across a Family with a Autistic child. I went into a very brief Trance for a couple of minutes and communicated with the boy. He was reacting physically to everything I was saying mentally. I feel that Autistic children have one foot in this dimension and the other in another. I feel for them, because I couldn't see how anyone could handle that period and yet they do their best. They are truly Special, in the best sense of the word! :-)

Greetings piyal_14
From the description that you provided it appears that you had the beginnings of an OBE. However you may not have entirely separated from the physical body so may have had only a partial projection (where part of the subtle astral body is still attached to the physical). If such a situation happens again it will be possible to deliberately go into a full OBE by (mentally) rolling the astral body apart and away from the physical body.

Good luck  :-)

Hello again everyone! And thanks for all your responses!!  :-)
I am very excited at this moment as i read through all your discussions. And yet again i want to share the experience that I had last night which was partially deliberate but still I did not understand it fully!
First off, to start with I have undertaken several tests before and everytime i have been detected slightly "autistic", as Lionheart stated!! Maybe this can then explain my last night's experience!
Ok so i start. Last night i slept alone in my room and had dim lights on the whole time. I lay down straight and started to concentrate on my breath. I have no idea when i had drifted off to sleep. Then i felt the typical vibrations though this time i did not feel the paralysis completely. My body lifted a little. This time i tried not to get scared and i lifted up one arm. It was transparent in a way i cannot explain. I wanted to explore a little more, so i tried sitting up and rolling out of bed and i succeeded very fast! Soon i was standing in a corner of my room and i could see my physical body sleeping. I went to the door which was right next to me and tried putting only my face through it. This was a very weird feeling because i could feel the depths of the door touching my face and at the same time i was looking at the corridor outside. I was excited and i pulled my face backward again. But then something very weird happened. I was now looking at my physical body which was sitting up and looking at me (a certain scared look in it's eyes). I remember gliding towards it and trying to tell it not to be scared of anything. And the next thing i know i was sleeping on my bed again. But i did not wake up after that either.
I dont know how far an improvement this was or whether this was "just another dream" because this time i did not even feel myself drifting back into my own body.

Yes, it appears that you Did manage to have a full OBE. Congrats Are in order!  :-D The steps that you performed to get OOB (out of body) can be performed Every time because you have found an OBE induction method that really works..

Cheers  :-)

There's nothing to be anxious about.

OOBEs constantly throw these riddles at us. When you think you have something worked out... you realise you indeed know relatively nothing.

A bit like life really.

But anyway... you had a really good experience there.
