Hello all,

I've been trying to ap or obe, which ever is your favorite term.  I've noticed that when I try for an extended amount of time or rather when I try to hold consiouness before going to bed that when I wake up I rarely remember dreams.  Does anyone else experience this or does anyone know if this is not connected?  It seems to me that it should be connected because these nights of just not remembering any dreams usually occurs on nights when I try to hold consiousness for a long time.

Also I've noticed that more success for obes are when you are awake while dreaming or just after dreaming(although I will say that I haven't had a complete ap yet).  When do most of you all have the most success?

Actually for me it is different. I started remembering my dreams better after meditating every night and becoming aware of different states like hypnagogic etc.

Awake while dreaming? I bet you mean lucid dreams.. It is a good platform for OBE. I almost had one during my recent lucid dream, but the sensations were so powerful that I got terribly scared and woke myself by slapping my face
Unfortunately, I have had only one lucid dream in 3 months that I`m trying to AP and maybe one when I was a child. I guess you can train yourself to have more frequent LDs..

Good luck,
Ivanda

Whenever I go OOB, it is usually right after a dream or during one. Only thing is if I have one during a dream I am not lucid- it just feels 100% real.

Froglet, I have encountered the same problem.

"...when I try to hold consiouness before going to bed that when I wake up I rarely remember dreams."

Thats what I was doing last night/past couple nights. Yesterday I managed to remember one I think, but today, I woke up and I could swear that I didn't dream once last night. I have absolutely no recollection of any dreams.

Ivanda makes a good point though. I couldn't meditate last night (not feeling too well) but I did do some mini-meditations during they day. Do you normally meditate daily? I find that, for me, it not only increases dream recall, but actually enhances the vividity (is that a word?) of my dreams.

If you don't meditate, I suggest you give it a shot - there's plenty information available online on meditation.

If you do meditate (regularly), maybe try and think of anything else that might affect your dream recall.
