Hey,

Lately I have begun to feel a difference when trying to get out (never succeeded, unless I can't remember). At first I started to see through my eyelids (although I'm not completely sure it's through my eyes I see), but now since a week something new occurred.  I hear strange noises that come from apparently nowhere but are as clear as it could be.  These sounds occur after 10+ min of relaxing (I'm still fully conscious at that point). At first there's only a somewhat silent static noise, but while it continues, other sounds come in which are totally clear and distinct.
One sound sounds like a cardboard box that is being pushed over the floor. An other sound is like an empty can of cola rolling over the street.

When I got up after sleep I went to check if there was nothing that could create those noises. One noise (cardboard box) was totally not possible to occur in the house or outside at that volume.

Now what I wanted to ask is if it is normal, or it's just a figment of the mind.
"The end off all, is merely the beginning of everything else..."

It's a figment of the mind and normal . It's a very good sign that you are relaxing deeply and staying awake during the onset of the hypnogogic stage. I'd see it as being on the right track.
