I have been doing heavier astral training
A few days ago i experienced my first out of body experience
It was wonderful and i realized there is nothing to fear
It feels more natural then i thought was possible

As i felt my body separate i was in bliss as I felt myself lift into the air. I felt closer to reality then I thought was possible. The room however was lit brightly. It was dark in the room when I snapped back to my body. I also didn't see my body nor a silver cord... I was curious as to why this is. A friend of mine whom has had a good amount of astral experience said my body was probably overlooking it so I wouldn't be shocked and snap back. I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience? If this is true to your own personal experience.

Hi FadeEsdrasX

Congratulations on your first OBE - let's hope it's the start of many more to follow!  :-)

OBEs are different for everyone and there are no hard and fast rules.  So the fact that your room was brightly lit during the OBE but dull in physical reality doesn't surprise me.  I've had OBEs where it's been raining (when it hasn't) and all sorts of differences.  It perhaps suggests that we are no longer in the physical realm, but because we expect to be in the same room, we create the room over the top of what is really there, which means often we experience anomalies.  This is just one possibility.

Also this goes for the silver cord/your physical body.  Many projectors don't see either.  I've seen my body once I think and never the cord.  One of my future experiments is to expect to see the cord next time I'm out, just to test whether it's based mainly on expectations.  Although even then, sometimes my expectations are not met such as fully believing that I'm going to go through a wall and then crashing into it...sometimes it works, sometimes not, and I've not found a pattern yet as to why.

Keep up the good work and remember that with OBEs, there are no "shoulds" or "shouldn'ts" - just because you read something by a so-called expert, it is only based on that particular expert's experiences and they are not the ultimate authority on the subject.  :-)

We all find nonsenses to believe in; it's part of being alive.

Sarah,

Thank you for replying. That helped me allot in putting things into perspective. I do allot of reading but I think at times I take their words too litterally.
Good luck on your experiments!

I have had a several more out of body experiences. Though confusing to me is at times I meet my best friend Jonathan. Walking around and talking to me. As well as another man whom was telling me to remain out of my body. Why am I seeing people in this fashion?

Sometimes you will get dream overlays. This happens when your awareness during the experience isn't clear and sharp. Then images from your imagination start to creep in. Another possibility is that you were actually talking to your friend while he was OBE as well. If he was aware at the time, he may recall the incident. Depending on his views, you may want to ask him the next time you see him OBE if he knows he's OBE and his body is asleep elsewhere. If he does, chances are he'll remember the experience upon waking and the two of you can share your experiences. However, if he seems confused by what you are saying, he's probably not aware enough to carry the experience back to waking consciousness.

One of the things I've noticed in these instances is what the person looks like. When I'm OBE, my surroundings always appear to be semi-translucent shades of white, even the people. However, with the people, most of them tend to look light grey, like cigarette smoke. They can carry on a conversation at the time, but they aren't conscious of what they are doing at the time. And they have no memory of the experience upon waking. Other times, the people look bright and clear. And this, it would seem, is also a reflection of their awareness. Because these people tend to be aware, at least to some extant, of the experience and can carry it back to waking consciousness. So next time you're 'out' and see your friend. See what he looks like (dull and grey or bright and clear). Also ask him specifically about OBE and see what his response is.
Reality is what you perceive it to be.
