Hey dani,

Well you don't wont your mind to fall asleep then you will loose all awareness. I also fall asleep a lot when trying to have an obe. Have you ever tryed to have an obe when you wake up? When you wake up your relaxed and your not tired and that's what you wont is to be very relaxed wonder if some one is to repeat a whole lot when trying to have an obe "out of body experience" a lot that it like triggers your consents. Well that's all I could think of at this moment but if I think of any thing else I will post it.

I agree with trying it after you wake up.  Wake up a about an hour before you usually do.  You're body will be completely ready for an OBE and your mind will not be as tired as at night when you're ready to go to sleep.  Also try sitting up.  When you lie down at night your body doesn't associate it with an OBE, but with "it's time to sleep".  It's hard to condition your body to not fall asleep in a position that it's associated with sleep it's whole life.  Breath awareness is a useful technique as well.

maybe i didnt explained my self correctly.
i dont fall asleep, the probleme is that i dont fall asleep.
i got to a point where my body is fully relaxed but my mind is still very much awake and because of that i cant enter an OBE.
and when i said about my mind falling asleep i meant to get into a trance state or so, im not sure how u call the process.

Well, now it all depends on what you define as "my mind is fully awake." If you mean you are still focused on something, but not chittering away on a mental level, then that is very good, and you are primed and ready for an OBE.

If you are still chatting to yourself, listening to your own personal mp3 player in your head, or whatever, that means you have not entered the trance, but are in the perfect conditions to do so, as your body is, as you said, perfectly relaxed.

I read somewhere that there is a certain "key," to getting close to proper sleep but not quite there. It's a sort of area that triggers your descent down into both trance AND sleep, depending on whether you are aware of the shift of mind or not. Of course there are other factors, such as whether your mind succumbs to the intense mental pressures of the theta state of mind, and falls asleep instead.

You say that you start to "lose awareness" in your body, so you start to "think again" to gain your awareness again. This is pretty much you taking yourself out of a deep trance. A trance so deep that your mind couldn't handle it, and started to fall asleep instead (loss of awareness). The easy solutions to that are A) meditation and regular practice of OBE, B) doing it when you wake up, not before sleep.

I don't quite understand what you mean by "make my mind fall asleep," but I'm guessing what you're trying to say is to get into the trance state. Pretty much you losing awareness IS your mind falling asleep. Random imaging and a struggle to hold awareness is apparantly good, and with regular practice maybe you will hold on to your awareness....

Bah, I'm probably making no sense.
Just practice when you wake up instead of before you go to sleep. As for my other points well...I'll leave it to you to try and understand my ramblings[:)]

No amount of rigorous training, sitting and doing nothing, and clearing one's mind can help a man who hasn't overcome his doubts.

dani,

It does sound like you missunderstood, like smooth said, you don't want your mind to fall asleep. That's why it's called a concious projection. You are awake during the entire process. You might if you want get close to sleep, if you think it's easier, but you don't fall asleep when having an OBE.

To enter a trance you make sure to relax the entire body, refuse to move it for any reason and just relaxes more and more. What you DO want to do is make the BODY asleep, but you keep the mind awake at all times. You wait for the body to fall asleep and lower your brainwaves by doing a trance practise, like concentrating on the breath, an image, heartbeat etc. The main thing, get your body as relaxed as possible while still awake.

At a certain point the energy double will be generated and you will be able to project. BUT YOU ARE STILL AWAKE WHEN YOU DO IT! Letting the body fall asleep, and letting the mind do it are not the same things. So in fact, that you don't fall asleep is actually a good thing, since you really do not want that.

What you might want to try is, relaxed fully mentally, it does not mean you should get close to sleep... Just that you have no mental restraints. Then decide on something to focus your full attention on, for example the heartbeat. Listen to this heartbeart, without straining mentally. Forget about everything around you, do not focus on the body, just follow the heartbeat... Make sure you have no inner monologue, and that the mind doesn't wander. During the entire time try to relax more and more, and MAKE SURE NOT TO MOVE AND SWALLOW!

When you do this your brainwaves will slow down, which causes you to enter a trance. If you concentrate long enough, and succeed in blocking everything out but what you concentrate on. You will sooner or later cross the sleep boarder, BUT YOU ARE STILL AWAKE. At this time, if done properly, you should have transferred to the energy body and you should be able to get up from bed, and find yourself in the astral. The thing which is important to see, is that when this happens YOU DO NOT FALL ASLEEP. You might not even realize you have projected, but still think you are in physical. If that happens, try to float up, or get up from bed to see.

Of course, sometimes you might experience a "break" in conciousnes when getting transferred. But you shouldn't expect this. And I would say that most of the time this does not happen.

I hope I have been of some assistance.

Yes! , That's what i meant , Lowering your brain waves not falling asleep, I just didnt know how its called.
So let me rewrite my probleme , So my probleme is that every time my brain waves start to slow down i automaticly starts thinking and the brain waves speed back up.
But never mind you allready asnwered my quesiton [:)]

dani,

It can also be worth mentioning that you don't always notice when your brainwaves slow down. As the brain gets used to lower states you can basically feel as awake as in normal life, even though you might be in lower alpha to theta range of brainwaves.

Slowing down brainwaves doesn't always mean you are getting close to sleep. The way to slow down the brainwaves is to shut down the surface mind, and concentrate upon one single thing. This will, if done properly, cause your brainwaves to lower, which in turn causes you to enter a trance. If you manage to concentrate enough, you might not even notice this happening. So my suggestion to you is to just stay concentrated, and trust that things happen for you. Don't think too much about if you lower the brainwaves or not, that alone can cause you to break it.

cause when i try to OBE the only time when i'm close to
falling asleep is when i loosing my consciousness, but then i notice that, so automaticly i start thinking again not to loose my consciousness and then i get back to full awarness. so how can i make my mind fall asleep?[?]
